🌸🌳Cherry Blossoms In High Park with light walk! 🌸🌳
🌸🌳Cherry Blossoms In High Park with light walk! 🌸🌳
🌸🌳 **CHERRY BLOSSOMS IN HIGH PARK WALK** 🌳🌸 Spring Blooms, Early Morning Magic & A Park in Full Colour This is one of those events where timing is everything. For a short window each spring, High Park transforms into one of the most beautiful spots in the city — with cherry blossoms in full bloom and people coming from everywhere to see them. And yes… it gets *busy*. That’s why we’re going early. The cherry trees in High Park were originally gifted in 1959 by the citizens of Tokyo, through Ambassador Toru-Hagiwara, as a symbol of friendship and appreciation. Many were planted along the hillside near Grenadier Pond, and over time, the display has grown into the iconic spring event we know today. This is not a formal tour. It’s a social walk — a chance to experience the blossoms, take photos, and enjoy the park together. 📲 **Join Our WhatsApp Group:**[ Click here to join](https://chat.whatsapp.com/DRFTkxRlHS4B3IL1lMleUd) *** 🚶‍♂️ **What We’ll Do** We’ll meet at the entrance and head straight toward the three main cherry blossom areas, stopping briefly at each so everyone has time to take photos and enjoy the views. After the blossoms, we’ll continue on a relaxed walk through the park, passing by the zoo and looping our way back to where we started. This is a lighter walk overall, but there *are hills*, so be prepared for a bit of a workout. *** 🌦️ Weather & Expectations This event will happen in typical spring conditions — sun, wind, or light rain. As long as it’s not extreme weather, we’ll be going ahead. 🌸 **IMPORTANT:** Cherry blossom timing can change depending on the season. If needed, this event may be moved to another date to catch peak bloom. Please keep an eye on updates. Dress in layers and wear good walking shoes. Also — this is NOT a guided or historical tour. I’ll share context casually, but the focus is on enjoying the experience together. *** 🚫 Getting There **DO NOT DRIVE TO THIS EVENT.** Parking in the area will be extremely limited or unavailable. It is strongly recommended to take public transit and meet at High Park Station. *** 🧢 Meetup Details 📍 Meetup Location: High Park sign (west side at Bloor & High Park Ave) 🫎 I’ll be wearing my Moose Hat ⏰ Meetup Time: 9:00 AM I will only wait 5 minutes. Early is on time. On time is late. We’ll head in promptly to beat the crowds. End Point: Back at the starting location *** 🎟️ Meetup Fee: $5 cash in person or e-transfer to 📧 **mathewmaclean@hotmail.com** This helps support the group and allows us to keep hosting events like this. Thank you for supporting community! 💖 *** 🎒 What to Bring Water Good walking shoes (hills!) Camera or phone for photos 📸 Weather-appropriate clothing (layers + spring-ready 🌸) Please also use the washroom before arriving, as stops are limited early on. *** 🌈 Who Is This For? This group is open to anyone who wants to be social and make friends — whether single or not. We also host: 🎬 Movies 🚶 Walks & hikes 🎭 Arts & culture outings 🍽️ Restaurant gatherings There’s always something happening. *** REMEMBER: You’re welcome to just show up on the day if you’re unsure about your schedule. And as always, sometimes plans shift and events may need to be canceled — please keep an eye on updates. *** 👤 Organizer: Mathew Questions? Post on the event wall or email 📧 torontomoviesandoutings@hotmail.com Come for the blossoms. Stay for the walk. Leave feeling like you caught one of Toronto’s most beautiful moments — right when it blooms. 🌸✨
Uncovered: Ag-Gag Poster Jam & Workshop
Uncovered: Ag-Gag Poster Jam & Workshop
Come together for a fun, creative, and purpose-driven workshop where truth is turned into impact. Facilitated by organizer, Erin Grace. At this interactive session, with the assistance of Mercy For Animals, lesser-known facts will be explored about ag-gag laws and animal agriculture in Canada, from hidden industry practices to policies most people don’t even know exist. Then, that knowledge will be put into action. What to expect: \* A poster-making competition focused on bold facts + eye-catching design \* Collaborating, brainstorming, and building community \* Prizes (or recognition) for the most powerful and creative posters After the workshop, there is the opportunity to engage in some activism with an optional poster run, where all will head out together to put our posters up around Toronto, sharing these messages with the public and sparking conversation. Whether you’re an artist or just passionate about animal advocacy, this is a space to learn, create, and take action together. \*\*\*Materials will be provided by Mercy For Animals and Wishbone, but feel free to bring your own magazines/cutouts, and other supplies

🎨🚶FREE EVENT - Janes Walk: Graffiti Alley 🚶🎨
🎨🚶FREE EVENT - Janes Walk: Graffiti Alley 🚶🎨
🎨🚶 **GRAFFITI ALLEY WALK – ART, RULES & THE STORIES ON THE WALLS** 🚶🎨 Street Art, Big Questions & A Different Way of Seeing the City Some people walk past graffiti and don’t think twice. Others stop and wonder… what am I actually looking at? Join us for a 45-minute walk through Graffiti Alley — one of the most vibrant, controversial, and constantly evolving art spaces in the city. This walk explores where graffiti and traditional art collide — and the bigger questions that come with it. Who gets to decide what counts as art? Who controls public space? And why does some work end up in galleries… while other work gets painted over overnight? We’ll look at the artists, the culture, and the unspoken rules that shape what you see on the walls — from layering and tagging to respect, territory, and style. This is not a formal lecture. It’s a walking conversation — part storytelling, part observation, and part seeing the city in a completely different way. 👉 📲 **Join Our WhatsApp Group:**[ Click here to join](https://chat.whatsapp.com/DRFTkxRlHS4B3IL1lMleUd) *** 🧠 What We’ll Explore As we walk, we’ll touch on questions like: * Is graffiti vandalism… or art? * Who decides what counts as “real” art? * Where does art belong — galleries or the street? * Who decides what gets shown in galleries? * Who funds art — and how does that shape what we see? * How does graffiti challenge cultural norms? * Who defines history — and what gets left out? There are no right answers here — just better questions. *** 🚶‍♂️ What We’ll Do We’ll walk through key sections of Graffiti Alley between Portland and Spadina, stopping at different walls and installations to talk about what’s there — and what used to be there. This is a space that’s always changing, so every walk is a little different. We’ll take time to: ✔️ Look closely ✔️ Talk about what we’re seeing ✔️ Take photos ✔️ Ask questions We’ll end near Queen & Spadina, with the option to grab food together afterward. *** 🌆 What Is a Jane’s Walk? This walk is part of Jane's Walk — a global festival of free, community-led walking conversations inspired by Jane Jacobs. Jane’s Walks are about exploring neighbourhoods through stories, sharing perspectives, and connecting with others through conversation. They take place in hundreds of cities around the world and are volunteer-run and community-driven. *** 🧢 Meetup Details 📍 Meetup Location: Outside Loblaws (585 Queen St W – Queen & Portland) 🫎 I’ll be wearing my Moose Hat ⏰ Meetup Time: 12:30 PM I will only wait 5 minutes. Early is on time. On time is late. 👉 Please come say “hi” when you arrive so I can introduce you to the group. End Point: Queen & Spadina *** 🎟️ Meetup Fee: FREE (Jane’s Walk event) *** 🎒 What to Bring Comfortable walking shoes Water Curiosity 👀 *** 🌈 Who Is This For? This is for anyone who: ✔️ Is curious about the city ✔️ Wants to see something familiar differently ✔️ Enjoys conversation and new perspectives No art background needed. *** REMEMBER: You’re welcome to just show up if you’re unsure about your schedule. And as always, sometimes plans shift and events may need to be canceled — please keep an eye on updates. *** 👤 Organizer: Mathew Questions? Post on the event wall or email 📧 torontomoviesandoutings@hotmail.com Come for the art. Stay for the questions. Leave seeing walls you’ve passed a hundred times… in a completely new way. 🎨✨

Choose Your Movie: THE SHEEP DETECTIVES vs HOKUM at Cinemark Stoneridge!
Choose Your Movie: THE SHEEP DETECTIVES vs HOKUM at Cinemark Stoneridge!
Join us as we get together to see your choice of two VERY different movies – one sweet and wholesome – the other a terrifying folklore horror! Option 1 is the fun whodunnit-action-comedy-mystery led by Hugh Jackman, THE SHEEP DETECTIVES! Option 2 is the top-reviewed supernatural-horror-thriller starring Adam Scott, HOKUM! Here’s a description, trailer and plan for this event: THE SHEEP DETECTIVES: Every night a shepherd reads aloud a murder mystery, pretending his sheep can understand. When he is found dead, the sheep realize at once that it was a murder and think they know everything about how to go about solving it. The film is directed by Kyle Balda and take a look at this ensemble cast: Hugh Jackman, Nicholas Braun, Molly Gordon, Hong Chau and Emma Thompson and the voices of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O'Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, Brett Goldstein and Rhys Darby. TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyZI5oM6hWk HOKUM: In this film, a horror writer visits an Irish inn to scatter his parents' ashes, unaware the property is said to be haunted by a witch. It is written/directed by Damian McCarthy stars Adam Scott, Peter Coonan, David Wilmot, Florence Ordesh and Austin Amelio. Hokum premiered to rave reviews at this year’s SXSW Festival and is being release by Neon. It is earning a stellar 97% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which calls it, “A classic haunted house story enriched with atmospheric folklore and perfectly-timed shocks!” TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVCIK_MPyhc PLAN: We’ll plan for a 7pm-ish showing of both films and will meet inside the theater lobby about 20 minutes before showtime. If the showtimes work out, we’ll try to get both groups together for a bite before the shows! Complete details and showtime will be confirmed/announced as the date gets closer. Look forward to seeing you there, Dan

CMG Gives Back: Serve Brunch at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!
Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details: IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to all of YOU for volunteering at this (and any of our previous) CMG Gives Back events! Should be another good/fun/meaningful time together, Dan
