Free event - 🚶♂️❄️ Downtown Toronto Walk + The PATH (Mostly Indoors!) ❄️🚶♀️
### 🚶♂️❄️ Downtown Toronto Walk + The PATH (Mostly Indoors!) ❄️🚶♀️
**Sunday\, February 1 \| 10:00 AM – approx\. 12:30 PM**
**Free Event**
Winter can make it tough to stay active in Toronto. Often late Jan/early Feb gives us the coldest days of they year.
Join Nick for a **downtown walk that transitions into a long, fascinating journey through the PATH system**, keeping us mostly warm and indoors while still exploring the city on foot.
📍 **Meeting Point**
**10:00 AM sharp**
Wellesley Station — **right by the PRESTO kiosk**
Look for **Nick and the Meetup sign**
***
### 🗺️ The Route
We’ll start outdoors at Wellesley Station and walk **west**, then **south**, before entering the PATH system.
From there, the walk becomes largely **indoors** as we continue **south through the PATH all the way to the lake**, finishing at **10 Bay Street**, right where the PATH meets the waterfront.
**Estimated walking time:** \~2.5 hours at a relaxed, conversational pace
**End time:** around **12:30 PM**
***
### 👀 What We’ll See Along the Way
This isn’t just a walk — it’s a guided urban exploration:
* Older downtown parks with **recent upgrades and improvements**
* **Brand-new parks** — some finished, some still under construction
* A **refreshed and facelifted section of the PATH**
* The **relocated bus terminal**
* A surprisingly **sad indoor mall**
* And plenty of lesser-known downtown details you’ve probably walked past without noticing
***
### 🏙️ A Little PATH History
The **PATH** is the largest underground pedestrian network in the world, stretching **over 30 kilometres** beneath downtown Toronto.
What began in the early 1900s as simple underground connections between buildings slowly evolved into a climate-controlled city beneath the city — linking office towers, transit hubs, shopping areas, food courts, hotels, and attractions.
Love it or hate it, the PATH is a uniquely Toronto creation — confusing, practical, occasionally bizarre, and endlessly fascinating.
Nick has even led **curated private tours of the PATH**, featured in *NOW Toronto*:

***
### 🧤 What to Bring
* A **bag or backpack** to carry your coat, hat, and gloves — we’ll be indoors for long stretches
* Comfortable walking shoes
***
### 🐕 Accessibility & Notes
* **Only certified service animals** are permitted on this walk
* This is a **free event**
* Please **respect your RSVP**, but feel free to **just show up** if your schedule is uncertain
***
Come explore Toronto from **street level to underground**, learn some history, and enjoy a winter walk that doesn’t freeze you solid. See you there! 👋

EARLY BUZZ AND REVIEWS: Early reviews have been stellar with the film earning a 94% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes! “It offers laughs, thrills, and it’s a thinker; you will not be disappointed.” It’s a “laugh-filled yet incredibly dark and poignant fever dream that pleads for a safer AI tomorrow” and director Gore Verbinski's “command over utter chaos is nothing short of marvelous!”
PLAN: Please purchase your ticket for the 6:20pm showing and meet in the bar area between 5:45 and 6:00pm! A smaller theater so advance ticket purchase as soon as possible is advised! Casual Boardgames - make friends, then beat them in games
Welcome to Casual Boardgames, where we enjoy classic tabletop games and social deduction games while bonding over good food, drinks, and great conversations.
We started this group to meet new people and make new friends, and bonding over games in a relaxed atmosphere is a great way to do that.
We currently meet near route 23 and Polaris Parkway, and this is close to areas like Powell, Lewis Center, Worthington, and parts of Westerville and Columbus.
Feel free to bring your own games or play one of the many games our members bring. If you are inexperienced, we will help you learn.
Here are just a few examples of the kind of games we play.
Tabletop/board games: Splendor, Catan, Azul, Dominion, 7 Wonders…
Social deduction games: Code Names, Chameleon, Werewords…
IMPORTANT:
1. While we love playing a variety of games and competing, we are not just about the games. We interact and talk while playing, and this leads to a lot of laughter and fun. If you just want to compete and focus solely on the game, then this is probably not the group you are looking for.
2. Many people join groups like this and never (or rarely) show up after weeks or months. If you join and never really come, we will eventually remove you from the group as a courtesy to our members. Why? Because limiting group conversations (on the app) to regular members makes communication and planning much easier. Also, while it may be rare, it protects members from people who join because they are interested in following a person instead of having a real interest in our group. If you get removed, it is just because you haven’t come, and we follow this protocol as a courtesy to our regular game players.
