BCS Young Coders Summer Camp 2026
## July 6 – July 31
## For kids 12–18 years old
Four weeks. Real projects. No prior experience needed.
Programming is one of the highest-demand skills in the world right now. The kids who start learning it early don't just have a career advantage — they think differently. They build things instead of just consuming them.
This isn't a one-size-fits-all computer class.
At Barcelona Code School, groups stay small, instructors give individual attention, and every student leaves having built something real — a working website or a mobile app they can show people.
One week is enough to get started. Four weeks is enough to change how your kid thinks about technology.
## What students learn
The curriculum covers the same technologies our adult bootcamp graduates use on the job — adapted for 12–18 year olds, taught step by step.
* **JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3** — the building blocks of the web, used by millions of developers worldwide
* **Python fundamentals** — one of the most versatile languages in tech, from data science to automation
* **Websites and web applications** — plan, build, and publish a project that actually works online
* **Mobile apps for iOS and Android** — build and publish a real app, not just a mockup
* **Coding with AI assistants** — how to use AI tools to write better code faster, a skill every developer needs now
* **Logical thinking and problem solving** — the mental framework behind every good programmer
App in a Day Workshop
**Let's Ship Your App**
This is an in-person workshop in Barcelona designed for founders and builders who want to turn a real product idea into working software — in a single day.
This full-day session is built for people stuck between prototype and launch. If you’ve started building a SaaS product or operational app, but hit a wall, this workshop helps you push it over the finish line. The focus is shipping: cutting scope, clarifying your product, and delivering a narrow, working MVP that runs at a live URL.
This workshop is dedicated to you and your product, and you can bring up to two guests / team members with you. We'll break your idea down into users, workflows, and implementation. We’ll tackle real blockers like authentication, data models, integrations, and deployment — and leave with a deployed app, a usable codebase and a spec you can keep building on.
We'll do requirements gathering, design and build on Specatron.com while the final output will be Claude-compatible. This is not a lecture or networking event. It’s a practical, intensive build session with a clear outcome: by the end of the day, you’ll have something real, usable, and shipped. The workshop takes place in central Barcelona (Eixample 46 coworking space) and is designed for people who are serious about building.
**Money-Back Guarantee**
If by the end of the day you don’t feel you’ve made real, meaningful progress toward a shipped product, you’ll get your money back. The goal is simple: you leave with something real.
**The Organiser**
Alex Nyberg is an engineer and technical PM with over a decade of hands-on software development. He's worked across the full stack — from embedded firmware running on vehicle hardware to cloud platforms serving Fortune 500 customers.
Throughout his career, Alex has worn every hat: developer, project manager, technical sales engineer, and founder.
He's founded three technical businesses alongside full-time roles — each one sharpening his instinct for when to build fast, when to validate first, and what teams need to stay aligned.

!ENGLISH! MONDAY DOUBLE SESSION / CAFE - Philosophy Meetup: 19:30h - 21h
Hi and welcome to our next Socrates Café philosophy meetup!
Do you have a hunger for deeper understanding of yourself and the world? Do you value deep, honest and respectful dialogue?
If yes, then this meetup will be very interesting for you.
• WHAT IS A MEETUP ABOUT?
We ask, answer and discuss questions and ideas to stimulate critical thinking and to widen our perspectives with new concepts and thoughts.
The main purpose of these meetups is to enrich ourselves with the perspectives of others, not to convince others about our own perspectives.
Our meetups are about our own philosophies of life and not necessarily what the great philosophers and academics have said or written. It is not a debating club or a platform for proselytizing. Instead, we place the emphasis on questioning, open mindedness and challenging our own assumptions while listening to and respecting the views shared by others.
A Socrates Café meetup is considered a success when participants leave a discussion with many more questions than they had at the beginning.
• WHAT TOPIC IS DISCUSSED AT THE MEETUP?
Participants suggest topics at the beginning of each meeting. We then vote and choose that event's most popular topic for discussion. No academic training in philosophy necessary; just enthusiasm for exchanging ideas and points of view.
Some examples of subjects chosen on previous meetups:
* What ideals are worth dying for?
* Why are we never satisfied?
* Why is it that human beings know that the society is going wrong, leaders are well informed about it and things continue as is?
* Is identity necessary?
* How can it be that people in democratic societies are so obsessed with power? (Desire to be different, better, stronger than others)
* What is friendship?
• WHO PARTICIPATES AT THIS MEETUP?
Anybody is more than welcome to join our meetups. Our events gather people from different backgrounds, different cultures, while no philosophical background is mandatory.
Our usual participants are people that have a hunger for deeper understanding of themselves and the world. People that value deep, honest and respectful dialogue.
The inspiration for Socrates Cafe originates with the book of the same name, written by the philosopher Christopher Phillips. (Socrates Cafe: A Fresh Taste of Philosophy, 2002). Phillips felt that the Socratic method of dialogue and discussion should be practiced not just in academic settings, but among everyday people interested in examining deep questions together. Hundreds of Socrates Cafe groups now exist around the world. **🎙️Talks**
**Code is Cheap: Now what? (In English)**
Coding agents like Claude Code make a big difference to how individual developers do their job. Some activities, in particular those relating to making code, are a whole lot faster.
Coding agents also make a big difference to how we run engineering organisations, because they have traditionally been shaped by the constraint that code was very expensive to produce. Examples of how organisation-level processes change include how we treat legacy code, how we design architecture and how we decide whether to buy something off-the-shelf or build it ourselves.
The changing economics of software will reshape the context within which every software developer works. If you understand these dynamics, you have a better chance to take advantage of the opportunities.
*By Chris Ford, Technology Director at Thoughtworks. He's the author of the upcoming O'Reilly book 'Agentic Engineering at Scale', which is all about getting value from coding agents beyond developers' personal productivity.*
**The parrot is eating the harness: how LLMs are being trained and what it means for your AI applications (In English)**
In this presentation we will review what LLMs are and how they have been evolving. From the initial transformers to the latest evolution trained with Reinforcement Learning and with more efficient latent attentions. At some point, they needed to be incorporated into a wider, integrated system to make them useful, managed by code.
And that’s when harnesses were born: crewAI, strands, openclaw and also our beloved Claude Code. They all have something in common: they ride the parrot so that the LLM does what we want, in the way that we want, adding instructions, identity, guardrails, memory, persistence. Include in the list of harnesses any AI application that your startup, or your company is building on top of an LLM. But, where did harnesses come from and what do they do?
Now for the main premise: training by Reinforcement Learning is so powerful that, in the last few months LLMs have been evolving incorporating functions that harnesses used to do for them. What has happened exactly and what does this mean for us, AI developers and AI entrepreneurs?
*By Gabriel Mesquida, course facilitator and teaching assistant at Stanford Engineering Center for Global & Online Education*

🥋 AI Coding Dojo @ Runroom
**Regístrate aquí**
https://www.runroom.com/eventos/ai-coding-dojo-spec-driven-development-sdd
#### ¿Qué voy a aprender?

Stop Guessing: How to Measure and Improve LLM Outputs
Most people use LLMs by feel: ask a question, read the answer, decide whether it “seems good,” and move on.
That works for casual use. It does not work when you are building software, automating workflows, writing important documents, or relying on AI for anything that needs to be repeatable.
In this talk, we’ll look at how to improve and evaluate the inputs and outputs of LLMs using practical measurement techniques. We’ll cover how prompt changes affect results, how to compare outputs, how to build simple evaluation sets, and how math-based methods like similarity scoring can help you move beyond guesswork.
This will be beginner-friendly, so even if you don't know anything about AI, you should get something out of it. However, this will be a little more technical than our intro talks. You do not need to be an AI researcher, but programmers and technically curious attendees will get a lot out of it.
We’ll cover:
* Why “it looks good” is not enough
* How to improve prompts by changing the input, context, and constraints
* How to compare LLM outputs more systematically
* Basic evaluation techniques for accuracy, consistency, and usefulness
* How embeddings, cosine similarity, and scoring can help evaluate results
* Where automated evaluation works — and where humans still need to stay in the loop
By the end, you’ll have a practical mental model for treating LLMs less like magic and more like systems you can test, measure, and improve.
LOGISTICS AND PARKING:
The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks!
The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.
