English Party Awards - An Oscars-themed Game Night!
English Party Awards - An Oscars-themed Game Night!
You're Invited to English Party Awards - An Oscars-themed Game Night! Join our free WhatsApp group and you can RSVP before the general public! [https://chat.whatsapp.com/CC7wzkxlnukBzmwaK3ovkM](https://chat.whatsapp.com/CC7wzkxlnukBzmwaK3ovkM) Since these events fill up far in advance and many people who RSVP "Yes" on Meetup don't end up coming, RSVP-ing on Meetup is no longer enough to guarantee your spot. I confirm attendees via WhatsApp. Thank you for understanding. We are mixing things up again and doing a potluck at my studio in Providencia! I think it will be really fun. As the Academy Awards, or the Oscars, are around the corner (Sunday March 15), the games and activities will be Oscars themed. If you like movies and/or acting you will love this game night! We’ll play “Who am I?”, charades, and some other acting/improv games. I’ll also bring some classic games like Apples to Apples and Taboo in case people want to play those. There will also be a special surprise activity that I’m excited about! For the potluck, please bring your own non-alcoholic beverage and a prepackaged, store-bought snack to share. There is a small fridge if your beverage needs refrigeration. We’ll have activities from 7:30pm until around 10:00pm, and after that, anyone who likes can go to another bar/restaurant nearby! My studio is relatively close to Barrio Italia and also downtown Providencia. It’s close to the metro stations Pedro de Valdivia and Manuel Montt. Precise location is confirmed via WhatsApp. Come for the fun games, excellent company, and English conversation! For those who feel moved to contribute to English Party, the completely optional suggested donation for this event is $3 USD. If you would like to make a donation, here is Shannon's PayPal link: PayPal (USD): https://paypal.me/ShannonMcEvoy?country.x=US&locale.x=en_US Friends are welcome (if possible please have them RSVP too, or add them as your guest) Can't wait to see you there! \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- Welcome to English Party! The purpose of our group is to encourage fluency in English while having FUN and making friends! Our main activities rotate between arts and crafts, game nights, and music (YES - singalongs and karaoke!). * Do you know some English, but freeze up in embarrassment when talking with native English speakers? * Are you bored with learning English in a traditional classroom setting? * Do you crave the challenge of communicating in English in real-life? * Are you a fan of learning by doing? * Are you an English-speaking traveler or expat looking to connect with locals? * Do you enjoy Arts and Crafts? Boardgames? Singing? All of the above? If you answered yes to one or more of the above questions, chances are you'd have a blast with us in our group! We host both in-person (in Santiago, Chile) and online experiences. We would love to have you join us! Follow us on Instagram at @englishparty.cl https://www.instagram.com/englishparty.cl/ Questions? Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk. Our March speakers are Molly Gaines and Zack Parrish, co-organizers of the Secular Education Association: They will share their story of how a small group of Ohio parents grew into a national organization tracking released-time religious instruction and other church–state issues in public schools. The presentation will cover SEA’s early wins and hard lessons, what we’re seeing nationally right now, and how local advocates can play a meaningful role in protecting public education. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the landscape — and practical ways to get involved. Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online Join Zoom Meeting [https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87836564953?pwd=4Mi57ElZkDIFlb1fnlNwOJ0NiOK4tP.1](https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87836564953?pwd=4Mi57ElZkDIFlb1fnlNwOJ0NiOK4tP.1) Meeting ID: 878 3656 4953 Passcode: 760812 One tap mobile +19292056099,,87836564953#,,,,\*760812# US (New York) +13017158592,,87836564953#,,,,\*760812# US (Washington DC) The formal presentation will start at noon
