Hey Poetry Lovers! This group is on a roll. Here’s the gist: We meet at the **Capital One Café in Chinatown** from **12pm - 2pm** every other week. For enrichment, we start by reading and reflecting on a **“published poem”**, suggested by someone in the group. No advance preparation is necessary. If you haven’t used Discord before, take a moment to download it and create an account before arriving. When we meet you on Saturday, we will add you to our server, the “DC Poetry Workshop”, and can help you navigate the app if you have questions. A camera’s ease of access and proliferation raises the issues of ethics and privacy in public places and the difference between a snapshot and a street photograph. This hands-on class will explore the unique aspects of the street photography genre. Michael Koren will be your guide as you create compelling photographs that go beyond the ordinary snapshot. First, you’ll learn pro level tips and techniques and discuss privacy issues associated with street photography. Then, with Michael’s guidance and direction, the group will head out to photograph near the White House in Lafayette Square. You’ll create photographs that demonstrate your personal vision while using your own gear optimized for street photography. We'll then head back to the classroom for image reviews and feedback. **Saturday, May 9 is World Collage Day!** Drop in to our shop anytime from 11:00 am-3:00 pm and take a FREE creative break — we'll be celebrating World Collage Day by making Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) using collage techniques! **[https://artisticartifacts.com/products/world-collage-day-make-take-atcs](https://artisticartifacts.com/products/world-collage-day-make-take-atcs)** An ATC’s only rule is that the finished size must be 2½ in. x 3½ in. and all art techniques are accepted. To commemorate World Collage Day, we’ll be using paper of all types: tissue, colored, book text and more for you to cut and paste as you wish. **All supplies are provided!** Children who are appropriately aged for a projects’ skills and to safely handle crafting tools are welcome, but MUST be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.

The Group heads south down the trail to the Great Falls Overlook on Olmsted Island Overlook to photograph the Potomac River waterfalls, kayakers, great blue herons, and other birds. That trail takes the Group across a couple of waterfalls, where great shots are taken. The estimated full walk is two miles (3.2 kilometers). The Alliance is part of the Greater Central Ohio Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. We are an all-voices chorus dedicated to providing an inclusive environment for all those who love to sing, regardless of their race, gender identity, sexual orientation or musical background. The Alliance is the first and only all-voices barbershop chorus in Central Ohio. **Who:** Anyone with a passion for singing at a high level. SCHEDULE: 10:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros. 10:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour. 11:10 - chat / take off / keep writing. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 11A-11:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session.
