La proposta d'aquesta activitat és visitar l'exposició *“El poble gitano de Catalunya: història i cultura”*, que se celebra en el Museu d'Història de Catalunya. La mostra, comissariada per la historiadora de l'art i activista gitana Mercedes Porras, recorre de manera visual i documental sis segles de la presència a Catalunya del poble gitano, amb el propòsit de fer visible la seva difícil història - des del seu origen a l'Índia – , i el mode en què la seva cultura ha aportat i incorporat trets artístics i lingüístics en tots els territoris en els quals ha arrelat en el temps. * Activitat gratuïta

We organise a watercolour workshop for beginners; The teacher is an advanced graphic designer and painter Tiana Diakova, whose works you can check on Instagram: @diakova_art. The maximum amount of people is 10 so the teacher will be able to guide every person. The workshop is adapted to a beginner's level (every time people who never painted before are surprised with the result they achieve!) But also the process will be interesting for those who draw or paint already. **Ens trobarem a les onze del matí (11:00 h), a la boca de metro de l'estació JAUME I (L4 groga), accés PLAÇA DE L'ÀNGEL.** Un cop apuntats, si finalment, pel motiu que sigui, no podeu venir, agrairem que us doneu de baixa. Durant l'esdeveniment, no hi ha garanties de que es contestin les trucades, ni tampoc els missatges, estarem massa enfeinats fent fotos. Això és una trobada de gent interessada en la fotografia urbana, de carrer, una trobada de gent interessada en les ciutats, en les persones que hi viuen i en les activitats i esdeveniments que s’hi fan. Passejarem pels carrers de la ciutat a la recerca de les coses que ens puguin agradar, interessar, sorprendre, anirem a la recerca de la bellesa. Al mateix temps, la trobada també ens permetrà conèixer gent amb la mateixa afició que nosaltres i podrem intercanviar idees, impressions i coneixements. No cal portar un gran equip, n’hi haurà prou amb una càmera petita que ens permeti passar desapercebuts i no ser gaire invasius. **History** The Columbus Museum of Art traces its roots to 1878, when it was founded as the Columbus Gallery of Fine Arts, becoming the first art museum chartered in Ohio. A group of civic leaders established it to bring touring exhibitions and build a public collection. In 1887, it merged with the Columbus Art School (now CCAD) fostering a long partnership in arts education. Initially without a permanent home, the museum operated from temporary spaces until 1919, when art patron Francis C. Sessions deeded his Victorian mansion on East Broad Street to house the growing institution. As collections expanded in the early 20th century, the need for a dedicated building became clear. The Sessions mansion was demolished, and a new Italian Renaissance Revival structure was erected on the same site, opening to the public in 1931. This elegant building, with its grand steps and arches, remains the museum's core today and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. Columbus's art museum is not large, and we won't need to rush through in order to see everything. However, it's a little windy (with a long "i") and maze-like in spots, and if you've never gone through it before, it can be a little confusing at first. **Tickets and Pricing** The Museum is free on Sundays. **Parking** The short answer here is that you can park for free (in the Safe Auto lot) when you visit the Museum on weekends. Once this upgrade is complete, though, the charge is likely to increase from $7 to $10. This upgrade is supposed to be done by the time we run this event, but given how these things work, I wouldn't be totally surprised if it's not complete by then. You'll know the lot is free if the gate arms to both the entrance and exit are fixed in a raised position when you arrive. However, there's a large parking lot for Safe Auto on the other side of N Washington Ave, between Boone St and Hutton Pl. The bigger issue may be the weather. The brewery has a good-sized outdoor patio that is covered and heated in the winter. However, that doesn't mean this patio will be warm. The inside of the brewery is "okay-sized," but again, the brewery is popular and by the time we get there, we may have no choice but to sit outside. If it's cold, I can and will ask them to fire up some of their additional outdoor heaters, which I think should be enough, but please bring something to keep you warm just in case we end up outside. Finally, while food at the Biergarten can be a little overpriced, in my experience it is excellent, and you are likely to enjoy whatever you get. We should be there by 1:00 if you can't make the Museum and just want to meet us for drinks.

Join us on Sunday for an hour of uninterrupted wordmaking! • What we'll do Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at noon on Sundays. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: 12:00 - quick intros. 12:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour. 1:10 - chat / take off / keep writing. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 1-1:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session.
