Join us on what looks to be a beautiful spring evening for the monthly Dupont ArtWalk. We’ll start at Hillyer in the alley behind the Phillips Collection as they celebrate the opening of the new exhibition *Modern Movements* organized in partnership with the Art Museum of the Americas – one of my favorite museums in DC. The exhibition will be on view during the months of April and May and will be held in all three galleries. From there (around 6:20) we’ll head to Studio Gallery and then the wonderful new Vika where Ram Brisueño, a Baltimore- based, self-taught collagist, opens his show. (That’s his artwork above.) His collage paintings use flowers blooming from, out of, and surrounding human figures to represent a halo-like presence of our best selves. From there we’ll have a choice between the Korean Cultural Center, The Washington Hilton, Dupont Underground and the Middle East Institute. We will be walking a bit but the weather should be nice for it. Hope you can join us!

This class will provide instruction into various concepts of **Jiu-Jitsu** as a form of **martial art**. Participants will have the opportunity to **study**, **practice**, and **experiment** with **submission holds** and **strategic fighting controls** that are the hallmark of the now famous methodology of Professional MMA athletes and professional combatives users. This **gi class** is held every **Tuesday** and **Thursday** and includes **one hour of instruction** and **30 minutes** (sometimes longer, TBD) of **open training**. This month we will be discussing **Frank Santoro**, an American cartoonist, painter, and comics critic known for his expressive lines, experimental page layouts, and vibrant use of color. His graphic novels—including *Storeyville*, *Pompeii*, and *Pittsburgh*—blend personal storytelling with innovative visual structure, often exploring memory, place, and relationships. In addition to his comics, Santoro has been an influential voice in comics education and criticism, co-founding the magazine *ComicsComics* and creating the **Santoro Correspondence Course for Comic Book Makers**, which has helped train and inspire a new generation of cartoonists. Afterwards, we will have time to work on our individual art projects, hang out, and if anyone is interested in feedback on their work, there will be time for that as well.
