There are no rules, no pressure — **just bring your own materials**, draw whatever you feel like, and enjoy the company of fellow creatives. La propuesta de esta actividad es participar en una visita comentada a La Fabra Centre d'Art Contemporani, y a las dos exposiciones temporales que se celebran actualmente en el centro situado en la Fábrica de Creació Fabra i Coats. La primera exposición que se visitará es *“Como piedras en las manos, ascuas y llamas”,* la muestra, comisariada por Chiara Cartuccia, reúne las obras de cuatro artistas internacionales que exploran el entrelazamiento entre los procesos de ruina y las historias de resistencia en las culturas del mediterráneo. Artistas: Marianne Fahmy ( Alejandría , 1992), Joyce Joumaa (Beirut, 1998), Huda Takriti (Damasco, 1990) y Hasan Özgür Top (Ankara, 1987). La segunda exposición que visitaremos es *LALIRIO,* comisariada por Claudia Elies, directora del centro. En la muestra se presentan tres instalaciones del dúo andaluz Fuentesal Arenilla que tienen como hilo conductor diversas piezas textiles de gran formato que, al igual que la flor de un lirio de mar, son capaces de cambiar sin perder su forma original. Our first reading will be The Hour of the Star (1977), a short novel by Brazilian writer Clarice Lispector. With just 96 pages, it is an intense and powerful book by one of Brazil’s most beloved authors. The novel follows Macabéa, a young woman living on the margins of society in Rio de Janeiro. Through an unusual and sometimes meta narrative voice, Lispector reflects on language, authorship, poverty, invisibility, and what it means to tell someone else’s story. The discussion will be held in English, but you’re welcome to read the book in any language. This month we will be discussing **Frank Santoro**, an American cartoonist, painter, and comics critic known for his expressive lines, experimental page layouts, and vibrant use of color. His graphic novels—including *Storeyville*, *Pompeii*, and *Pittsburgh*—blend personal storytelling with innovative visual structure, often exploring memory, place, and relationships. In addition to his comics, Santoro has been an influential voice in comics education and criticism, co-founding the magazine *ComicsComics* and creating the **Santoro Correspondence Course for Comic Book Makers**, which has helped train and inspire a new generation of cartoonists. Afterwards, we will have time to work on our individual art projects, hang out, and if anyone is interested in feedback on their work, there will be time for that as well.

So this month's prompt is more general. I think we can all agree that we are living in "unique" times that require coping skills. I think that one role and/or purpose of philosophy is to help us deal with our daily lives and our "unique" times. So, let's share our feelings and thoughts about which philosopher/philosophy we turn to in order to deal with our crazy events. Who/what helps you stay focused in your daily life and helps you sleep at night. I find that Stoicism with a little philosophical pessimism mixed in goes a long way in helping me deal with what I see as very destructive, fearful and mean spirited public policies at both the state and federal levels. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome.
