This is the fourth in my "Satan" series. In the third session we ended with John Milton. We will continue the theme with William Blake, who was visited spiritually by Milton just as Milton was visited by his own muse. Blake was an engraver, poet, writer and painter. Many today believe he was a creative genius. He has inspired creatives including Bob Dylan, Jim Morrison, Van Morrison, Billy Bragg, the beat poets including Allen Ginsberg, *Brave New World* author Aldous Huxley, *Hannibal* author Thomas Harris, *His Dark Materials* author Philip Pullman, *V for Vendetta* author Alan Moore and many others. And he has inspired me, and helped me understand what creativity really means, and how to live life authentically. During his life-time he was virtually unknown, and he died a pauper. A small exhibition of his work when he was 50 resulted in a solitary review, which said that Blake was an unfortunate lunatic who ought by rights to be in an asylum were it not for his mild manners. The poet William Wordsworth wrote, “There was no doubt that this poor man was mad” and the art critic John Ruskin called him “diseased and wild.” Even his wife said she didn't understand his work. He only sold 30 copies of his most popular book in his life-time, and didn't sell a single copy of others. But Blake's insights into creativity and existence don't require years of study — they require a willingness to see differently and have a very individual approach life. Los que me conocéis sabéis que mi especialización es la historia social y del movimiento obrero, por eso dedicaremos esta ruta a: LA BARCELONA OBRERA, ANARQUISTA Y REBELDE Cronológicamente esta es la primera de las rutas de la trilogía dedicada a la historia social de Barcelona (aunque cada una de ellas es independiente y se pueden hacer salteadas). Parece que la Barcelona actual está decidida a enterrar su pasado anarquista. No será por nosotros. Si te gustan las rutas de temática poco convencional (incluso políticamente incorrectas), ésta es la tuya. Recorreremos lugares míticos, aunque poco conocidos, de la historia y los orígenes del movimiento obrero barcelonés. Conoceremos la dimensión y presencia social del anarquismo en nuestra ciudad, mientras hablamos de huelgas, bombas, insurrecciones, persecuciones y ateneos culturales. Así, conoceremos los acontecimientos clave de la historia del movimiento obrero de la ciudad durante los siglos XIX y XX, tomando como hilo conductor la implantación y desarrollo de las ideas anarquistas en Barcelona. Hola a tod@s, Soy Miguel, Doctor en Historia Contemporànea y animador de este grupo de meet up. En esta ocasión os invito a encontrarnos para realizar la ruta dedicada a La II REPÚBLICA Y LA GUERRA CIVIL EN BARCELONA. Esta es la segunda de las rutas de la trilogía dedicada a la historia social de Barcelona en el siglo XX. Los que ya me conocéis sabéis que es uno de los temas que más me apasiona y he trabajado sobre ello publicando varios artículos y un libro. En esta ruta intentaré transmitiros todo lo que he aprendido mientras recorremos juntos los escenarios de los episodios más apasionantes de la historia de la II República y la Guerra Civil. Entre otras cosas nos sorprenderemos descubriendo los paralelismos con los tiempos recientes, conociendo qué ocurrió en el pasado cuando Cataluña se proclamó República (en 1931 y en 1934) y veremos cual fue la reacción del gobierno español. Conoceremos de cerca las huellas que dejó la revolución social de 1936 en Barcelona, así como las cicatrices que aún perduran en la ciudad fruto de los bombardeos durante la guerra. Eso y mucho más. ¿Cuál es la relación entre los filósofos y la ciudad de Barcelona? ¿Cómo pasaron por ella? ¿Qué reflexiones han surgido de su encuentro y cuáles siguen ocultas en los callejones de la ciudad? Como hacían los filósofos peripatéticos, la reflexión se desarrollará también en movimiento. En cada etapa, un filósofo y una idea permitirán que se desplieguen las ideas sobre la idea de ciudad. De hecho, el hilo conductor del recorrido es la propia idea de «ciudad». Será un pensar caminando, un cuestionar conociendo. **History** The Columbus Museum of Art traces its roots to 1878, when it was founded as the Columbus Gallery of Fine Arts, becoming the first art museum chartered in Ohio. The inside of the brewery is "okay-sized," but again, the brewery is popular and by the time we get there, we may have no choice but to sit outside. If it's cold, I can and will ask them to fire up some of their additional outdoor heaters, which I think should be enough, but please bring something to keep you warm just in case we end up outside. Finally, while food at the Biergarten can be a little overpriced, in my experience it is excellent, and you are likely to enjoy whatever you get. We should be there by 1:00 if you can't make the Museum and just want to meet us for drinks.

Dale Gnidovec, Curator of the Orton Hall Museum of Geology at The Ohio State University, will be presenting a program he has wanted to share with us for a long time: Plate Tectonics. His description of his program: Continents on the move - Nothing in Earth history makes sense without moving continents - it tells us why mountains, volcanoes, minerals, and fossils are where they are. This talk examines the evidence for continental drift, why it was disbelieved, and explains how the more-encompassing theory of plate tectonics was developed and eventually proven. The topic for February is "Transitions" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human.
