How to Start Your Art Collection: Exclusive Visit to Artist Studio
Today we look at the works of an artist who over the past two decades, has built an oeuvre consisting primarily of screen prints on paper and canvas. Prior to that, the artist had worked extensively in photography, filmmaking, and set design. The screenprinting work is informed by architecture - ancient and modern structures, calligraphy, graffiti, handwriting, and the movement of the masses through big metropolises.
Other techniques on paper are included in the visit - from lithography to etching, cyanotype to woodblock printing - and more!
Please note, the studio visit starts promptly at 12:00.
This studio is located on the top floor and has no elevator: you will have to walk four flights of stairs.
Beverages will be served, poetry may be read. The event is hosted on donation basis between €25-35.
GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT OUR STUDIO VISITS:
Get to know a handful of carefully selected artists who are enhancing, interjecting, and challenging art history through new media, new ideas, and new formats. Every artist builds their own universe, and for one exclusive afternoon, we are welcome into their sacred space of creation. The artist will tell their story and you are free to ask questions, engage in dialogue, and leave feeling inspired - and even with a beautiful new artwork to illuminate your space!

Although “Legendary” and “iconic” are overused in queer-speak, sometimes the terms fit the person, as it does for this month’s Film night. Join us for a rare opportunity to speak with Wieland Speck, one of queer cinemas “legends” about his own work as a director and his influence on queer cinema as chief curator and head of the prestigious Panorama section of the Berlinale film festival.
Typically out of the public eye, his most celebrated work “Westler” is often shown as an example of queer cinema out of Germany, so to have him select from his body of work will give us an insider’s perspective on his intentions as a director and what is conveyed to the audience.
For the discussion we will explore particular themes in his films, his influence on the industry and his role in launching directors to the world stage. Please join us in honouring one of the living legends of queer cinema, the iconic Wieland Speck.
**About the Village Film Night**
Film Night is a monthly event that explores the wide world of queer cinema and beyond. Our selections cover a range of genres and styles, from film history classics to the latest in young queer cinema.
Each screening is an opportunity to discover new narratives and voices, engaging with stories that challenge norms and celebrate diversity. Each screening is an opportunity to discover new narratives and voices, engaging with stories that challenge norms and celebrate diversity.

Park Workout and Martial Arts
We'll start off the session with a run in Gleisdreieck park that might include scaling some walls, visiting a few sites in the area to explore their opportunities for climbing and balancing, or going up or down stairs in unusual ways. After the outdoors bit, we come back to our gym where we focus on building strength, working as a group, and learning basic martial arts techniques. We are a small, accessible, mixed-gender, queer-friendly group open to anyone, without any prior knowledge or specific degree of fitness required. Our martial art is Jutaijutsu, a traditional Japanese one focused on self-defence.
Sounds interesting? We'd love for you to drop by and join us. You'll need running shoes and comfortable workout clothes, including a raincoat or the like for the park if the weather is bad. Once indoors, we train barefoot. The first three Meetups are free of charge. If you'd like to join our group beyond that, we would ask you to join our association, https://yanagi.berlin, a martial arts school based in Berlin. Membership there is 30 EUR/month and you will be able to train three times a week.

Mixed Friendly Football @ Sportpark - Lousy & Lazy
Do you like to play football - but relaxed and not with competitive or aggressive players? Are you a bit lazy, a bit old, a bit unfit or not so talented? Then Lousy & Lazy Football is the right thing for you!
We are a group of friendly people who just want to have a relaxed kick. All genders, ages (+18) and nationalities welcome. Feel free to join the waitlist even if it seems long - sometimes we make the event larger and play on two pitches (24 players, four teams) or even three pitches (36 players, six teams), depending on demand.
Note: We do not allow high-studded football boots during our sessions. To avoid injuries, we only play with "Multinocken" (multistuds) or shorter. Please have a look here: [link](https://www.11teamsports.com/de-de/fussballschuhe/multinocken/).
Lousy & Lazy rules:
1. **Don’t be competitive - fun only! Enjoy the workout, nice people, wonderful weather and magic ball moments**
2. **No emotional shouting, no telling other players where to go and what to do**
3. **No hard tackling/sliding**
4. **Avoid injuring yourself and other players at all costs: Tight situation? Give up the ball rather them going all in**
5. **Support less fit and less skilled players by giving them the time and space to play the ball, don't intercept passes to and from them. Bonus points: Make them shine!**
6. **Don’t dribble past multiple players (trying to take on one player is fine)**
7. **Don’t close down the defenders too quickly. Give the team a chance to play the ball out.**
8. **Rotate the goalkeeper**
9. **Be a teamplayer**
10. **Come regularly and be reliable with your RSVPs**

CMG Gives Back: Serve Dinner at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!
Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “Create a better world” by helping serve those in need. NOTE: We’re switching it up this time and going with a DINNER shift on Mon, 7/6. Here are complete details and our plan for this event:
FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces.
PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for DINNER from 4:30 to 6:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 4:20pm and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants.
LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking are available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details:
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to those volunteering at this (or any of our previous or future) CMG Gives Back events!
Look forward to seeing you there, Dan
