**âThe Loves of My Lifeâ by Edmund White (2025)**
In this late-life memoir, Edmund White looks back on decades of desire, intimacy and queer experience. Moving from the closeted 1950s to the age of apps, he recounts encounters, relationships and fleeting connections that shaped both his life and his writing. The result is a candid, witty and deeply personal portrait of love in its many forms.
This final memoir by Edmund White, one of the most influential voices in queer literature, traces more than sixty years of gay life through the lens of desire. From furtive encounters in mid-century America to the sexual liberation of the post-Stonewall years and the shadow of the AIDS crisis, Whiteâs recollections map an entire cultural history alongside his own biography.
Structured less as a linear narrative than as a constellation of lovers, episodes and reflections, the book blends erotic confession with literary meditation. White writes about transactional sex, longings, power dynamics and emotional attachments with his signature mix of irony, tenderness and intellectual curiosity.
What emerges is not only a chronicle of excess and experimentation, but also a sustained inquiry into the meaning of loveâwhether fleeting, one-sided or transformative. At once provocative and reflective, âThe Loves of My Lifeâ becomes a celebration of queer existence across generations, shaped by memory, loss, humour and an enduring devotion to beauty and language.

#### Village Book Club in English: "The Loves of My Life" von Edmund White (2025)
Practical Tools to Reduce Rumination & Obsessive Thoughts
Holding onto resentment, judgment, and stories is exhausting work. Unresolved pain and experiences keep the mind stuck in loops, replaying the same thoughts long after the moment has passed, sometimes for months or even years.
This workshop explores what rumination is, how it is created in the body, and how to work with it rather than against it. Through reflection, storytelling, and embodied practices, you will learn how to break those cycles and reduce your obsessive thoughts, so you can take your energy and power back.
**This is for you if**: Youâre tired of wasting time and energy dealing with your rumination and obsessive thoughts. You want to understand yourself at a deeper level. Youâre interested in mental health and mental fitness. You want to be in a safe, grounded space, around like-minded people.
Feel free to invite someone who could benefit from this workshop.
Come as you are. Looking forward to meeting you!

Lights Up! The Unscripted Musical! by KALEIDOSCOPE
# Kaleidoscope â at Monbijou Theater
## Lights Up! Berlin's Sell-Out Unscripted Musical
**Monbijou Amphitheater · Monbijoupark, Berlin**
**Doors: 5:30 PM · Show: 6:00 PM · Running time: 90 minutes**
**Performed in English · Amphitheater · No interval**
***
There is no better place to watch a musical get born than a wooden amphitheater on a summer evening in Berlin.
Lights Up! is Kaleidoscope's fully unscripted musical: a complete story, with original songs, live music, and characters that didn't exist before tonight. The ensemble steps on stage with nothing prepared. The audience gives them a suggestion. And ninety minutes later, a musical ends that will never be performed again.
A professional live band plays every song for the first time. The ensemble builds every scene from scratch. Nobody has rehearsed. Nobody has a script.
Every seat at Monbijou Theater looks onto an open stage surrounded by one of Berlin's most loved outdoor spaces.
**Performed in English. All nationalities welcome.**
**A ticket reservation is required!** [TICKETS HERE.](https://www.yesticket.org/event/en/kaleidoscope-the-unscripted-musical-at-monbijou-14-06-26/)

Free DrinkWatchTalk feature movie evening June 14 18:00
Hey Film Friends!
Berlin Film Community and No Plan records come together to bring a free screening of Punk in Africa - a music documentary feature film.
Q + A with the movie directors Deon Maas and Keith jones after the screening. Free entry - doors open at 17:00 - film starts at 18:00.
Punk in Africa is the story of the multi-racial punk movement within the recent political and social upheavals experienced in three Southern African countries: South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. An amazing look into a scene that was underground, hidden, banned and persecuted.
Come on down, watch this fabulous movie, have a drink from the lovely HoM bar staff, and chill while networking with music lovers and Berlin filmmakers.
Looking forward to seeing you there on June 14 for Drink.Watch.Talk. đ»đŹđŁïž
Kreative Schreibwerkstatt in Charlottenburg (14:30 Uhr!)
[https://textcollective.de/ticket](https://textcollective.de/ticket)
**Besonderheit fĂŒr dieses Treffen am 13. Juni:**
Juni eure Kurzgeschichten.
Wer also am 13.
**Was dich erwartet:**
Filmmakers & Movie Nerds Meetup #184
Curious what we do? Check our [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/filmmakersandmovienerds/) â„ïž
Would you like to meet some like-minded filmmakers? Start a project? Or do you need help with a movie you are currently working on? Are you new in the city and you'd like to meet people tinkering with movies?
**Then you should join us!**
We meet every Sunday. Itâs important to us that we get to know each other in person. To create a community of connected people, work, learn and grow together. For film making you need a crew of reliable people with a positive can-do-attitude. This is the place to find them.
Together, we will talk about these topics:
* What you are currently working on
* What you need help with
* What would you like to help with
* What you you would like to learn
This is event is great for:
* filmmakers
* movie nerds
* writers
* camera operators
* editors
* actors
* sound recorders
* composers
* gaffers
* producers
We are limiting the amount of people, so we can have a structured introduction and discussion. After that we get together loosely with some drinks and chats. And then we mostly go for dinner with a couple of us.
**Important information**:
*To sustain and grow this amazing community, we started a member contribution that is due every month. The money we collect is used solely for the purpose of the community. Of course you can come once or twice without contributing to check us out!*

She (re)lives her life in 1910 Paris and 2014 Los Angeles, and as the procedure goes on, the lines between her worlds become blurred. These three timelines have a lot of connective tissue holding them together; certain symbols and motifs appear repeatedly, not to mention Mackayâs Louis, a figure whom Gabrielle seems drawn to in each lifetime.

Stalker
Based on the novel Roadside Picnic, it is NO picnic, but rather one of the masterpieces of world cinema. Andrei Tarkovsky's 1979 Soviet sci-fi classic, recounts the expedition of a writer and professor led by a mysterious guide called "The Stalker." to a futuristic wasteland called "The Zone." Dripping with existential dread, it continually presents strange occurrences that will have us debating the meaning of what we've just viewed right through the ending.
*Stalker* (1979) can be streamed for free on HBOMax, the Criterion Channel or Kanopy. It's also available for rent on Amazon Prime and AppleTV. The Columbus Library has two copies on disc.
