Literary Reading Group: “The Fall of the House of Usher” by Edgar A. Poe
We will discuss our reactions and interpretations of Poe’s classic 25-page short story, readable online [here](https://www.ibiblio.org/ebooks/Poe/Usher.pdf).
Poe is, among other things, often considered the inventor of the detective story and an original voice in the canon of American lit. This story (like many of his) is a romantic-era “gothic” work interested in madness, decay, and the supernatural. I look forward to hearing what you all think!
Facilitated Networking:Tools to scale Reputation & Trust in the Age of AI Fakery
Most professional relationships today start with a LinkedIn request and die in a DM. Meanwhile, AI-generated content is flooding every channel — making it harder to tell who's real, who's credible, and who's worth your time.
Trust is becoming the scarcest currency in professional life. And you can't build it through a screen alone.
Together with the Prague Founders & Digital Professionals community, we're hosting a small facilitated networking/mastermind evening at Spaces Smíchov. This is **not** a social mixer.
**The Topic of the Evening:** AI is making everything easier to fake — credentials, content, even relationships. So how do you build a reputation that actually holds up? How do you know who to trust — and how do others decide whether to trust you? We'll get into it.
Will share my tools & systems and would discuss your perspectives and protocols.
**This session creates a space for that.**
Together with the **Prague Founders & Digital Professionals** community, we’re hosting a small facilitated networking / mastermind evening at **Spaces Smíchov**. This is not a typical social mixer. It is a structured session designed for those who value depth over a stack of business cards.
**The Topic of the Evening:**
As AI tools automate content and work, how do professionals build real trust and maintain high-quality relationships today? We’ll discuss how reputation, credibility, and professional connections are evolving in 2026.
**What to Expect:**
* **30 min Group Discussion:** Insights on developing and maintaining trusted relationships in an AI-driven environment. We’ll cover specific frameworks and tools for staying "human" while scaling.
* **60 min Facilitated Networking:** No small talk. Structured table rotations designed so you have real conversations with most people in the room.
* **The Vibe:** No pitches. No panels. No "let me tell you about my startup." etc.
**Who usually comes:** Founders, consultants, product people, designers, and remote professionals who work globally and are tired of shallow networking.
**Agenda:**
* 17:30 – 17:45: Welcome & Snacks.
* 17:45 – 18:15: Shared Discussion: The New Rules of Trust
* 18:15 – 19:15: Facilitated Networking (Table Rotations)
* 19:15 – 19:30: Wrapping up
**About the Facilitator:**
The session is led by **[Alexander Benkendorf](https://www.linkedin.com/in/benkendorf/)**, a branding strategist for international tech companies (Benkendorf Group). Alex has 20 years of experience in human experience design and product development.
**Practical details:**
* **📍 Where:** Spaces Smíchov, Prague (Business Club / Lounge)
* **📅 When:** Tuesday\, March 10 \| 17:30 – 19:30
* **🌍 Language:** English
* **👥 Limit:** \~25 people to keep discussions comfortable
**Spaces are limited to ensure quality of conversation. Please RSVP to secure your spot.**
PyData Prague #34 - Learning from Distillation
Hello Python enthusiasts and models both large and small,
The 34th PyData meetup will take place at **Similarweb offices** (Dock in Five, reception A, 5th floor). As usual, the talks will start at 18:30 but we encourage you to come as soon as **18:00** to enjoy the opportunity to socialize and refresh yourselves (which you can continue doing during the break and after the talks).
Our main goal is to build the community around Python and data and make it welcoming to people of various skills and experience levels.
⚡ If you are interested in giving a lightning talk (up to 5 minutes to present an idea, tool or results related at least to some degree to Python and/or data), please contact us before the event or at its beginning.
**Why Your Models Fail: Learning from Regime Shifts in Real Data**
**([Alena Pavlova](https://www.linkedin.com/in/alena-pavlova-494610207/), Similarweb)**
When building predictive models, we often assume that the data-generating process is stable over time. In practice, this assumption is frequently violated and ignoring it can severely degrade model performance.
In this talk, we use stock market price data to demonstrate how overlooking market regimes leads to misleading results and fragile trading strategies. We start by implementing a simple strategy under the assumption of a single, stationary regime and show how it fails in changing market conditions.
We then introduce a regime-aware approach to infer latent market states. By applying the same strategy only within appropriate regimes, we demonstrate how performance, risk characteristics, and interpretability can change dramatically.
The talk focuses on practical Python implementation, intuitive explanations of regime modeling, and concrete lessons that extend beyond finance to any non-stationary time-series problem. Attendees will learn how to detect regime shifts, incorporate them into modeling workflows, and avoid common pitfalls when working with evolving data.
**Training Small Language Models with Knowledge Distillation**
**([Gabriela Kadlecová](https://www.linkedin.com/in/gabriela-kadlecova/), distil labs)**
Large language models (LLMs) have proven useful across a wide range of real-world applications, from code generation and document analysis to intelligent automation and data extraction. However, their practical adoption comes with some tradeoffs: inference costs can be prohibitive at scale, and sending sensitive data to external cloud APIs raises privacy concerns. Sometimes, a general-purpose model is more than what's needed - if the task is quite specific, a smaller, specialized model could do the job just as well.
Small Language Models (SLMs) are a great alternative - running entirely on local hardware, they keep data private, respond faster, and operate at a fraction of the cost. The key challenge is making them good enough for the task at hand, and this is where knowledge distillation comes in. By having a large "teacher" model automatically generate and refine training examples, we can create a specialized "student" model tailored to a specific task, starting from as few as a handful of seed examples.
In this talk, we walk through the full distillation pipeline: from defining a task and preparing seed data, through synthetic data generation, to fine-tuning an SLM ready for local deployment. We also present benchmark results comparing base and fine-tuned models, and a live demo showing how capable a well-distilled small model can be.
Anarchoagorismus s Urzou
Martin Urza, anarchokapitalista, youtuber a autor první české knihy o anarchokapitalismu, přijede osobně představit svou novou knihu **Anarchoagorismus**.
Anarchoagorismus není jen teorie. Je to praktická cesta ke svobodě pomocí prostředků dostupných každému z nás, tady a teď.
A samozřejmě – večer zakončíme kvalitním pokecem u piva a v atmosféře bublajících dýmek.

Computer Graphics Meetup: The Render Strikes Back
CZ: Již druhá akce z nové série meetupů!
EN: The second event from a new series of meetups!
18:30 **Přivítání a úvod/Welcome and introduction** *(Ondřej Smrž/Martin Kahoun)*
18:40 **Tech Art v Blenderu: Game Dev a něco navíc/Tech Art in Blender: Game Dev and Beyond** *(Miroslav Horváth - PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions)*
EN: A practical overview of tech art in Blender focused on game development—from creating content for large open worlds and procedural generation to automated game asset QA and art pipeline tools. We’ll also cover approaches for evaluating ML-generated outputs and catching generation artifacts, and show how Blender can handle “weird” non-art projects too—like prime distribution visualization or social network visualization and analysis.
19:40 **Fluid Simulation in Computer Graphics/Simulace Tekutin v Počítačové Grafice** *(Tomáš Skřivan - SideFX Software)*
EN: In this talk we will explore the fundamentals of fluid simulation in computer graphics, show how to create physically plausible simulations of fire, smoke, water, sand, and snow. We examine the three main approaches, grid-based, particle-based, and hybrid methods, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of each. We also take a brief look at the underlying mathematics, showing how the famous Navier-Stokes equations are essentially Newton's second law of motion. The journey through fluid simulation will be illustrated with concrete examples created in SideFX's Houdini.
20:30 - 21:00 Ukončení akce a přesunutí do blízké restaurace / End of the event and move to a nearby restaurant

Taking Back Control in Atlassian
Control & Clarity in Atlassian
Platform direction, admin sanity, and real-world planning
Atlassian is evolving fast — new platform concepts, new ways of organizing work, and increasing complexity for admins and teams. At the same time, many organizations are struggling with very practical questions:
How do we stay in control? How do we keep things tidy and manageable? And how do we plan realistically as teams and environments grow?
At this Atlassian Community Event in Prague, we’ll bring together Atlassian insights, partner experience, and real customer examples to explore how teams are navigating change — and what actually works in practice.
🎤 Agenda & Speakers
Service Collection: Platform Direction & What’s Coming Next
Darryl LeeSolutions Engineer, Atlassian
Darryl will give a high-level introduction to Service Collection — what it is, why Atlassian is investing in it, and what it means for existing customers.
The session will also include a look at the roadmap and upcoming changes, helping attendees better understand where the Atlassian platform is heading and how to prepare for it.
Atlassian Cloud and the Loss of Control
Ed LetifovTechTime Initiative Group Limited
Sometimes it feels like too much is happening in Atlassian — too fast, with too little visibility. User identities, access, and numbers stop making sense, and admins are left feeling overwhelmed.
In this talk, Ed will share real approaches implemented by TechTime’s customers to organize user identities in Atlassian Cloud, reduce chaos, make data consistent, and ultimately lower admin stress. A practical session focused on regaining control and clarity.
When Estimation Breaks: Collaborative Planning in Jira at Scale
Maria MelnikCTO, Teamlead
Jira’s estimation model assumes one person owns one issue. In real teams, work is collaborative — and that’s where estimation starts to fall apart.
Subtasks, custom fields, and manual roll-ups can help, but they often create noise, overhead, and unreliable data for admins.
This session explores how teams handle collaborative estimation in Jira today, where native approaches hit their limits, and what practical patterns partners use to restore clarity. A real-world discussion focused on reducing admin effort and making planning data usable again.
Understanding Team Capacity in Jira: Native Features vs. Real-World Usage
Ostap ZaishlyiSenior Product Manager, Reliex
Jira offers multiple native ways to view workload and capacity — boards, calendars, and Jira Plans — but how well do these tools work as complexity grows?
Using a real customer example, this session explores:
What Jira’s native features can (and can’t) tell you
Where teams typically hit limitations
How add-ons like ActivityTimeline are used to complement Jira and gain clearer visibility into workloads, availability, and constraints — enabling better planning decisions in real-life scenarios
🤝 Networking & Catering
As always, the event will conclude with networking, food, and drinks — a great opportunity to:
Connect with fellow Atlassian users, admins, and partners
Ask follow-up questions to the speakers
Share experiences and challenges in an informal setting
Whether you’re an admin, a team lead, or simply curious about where Atlassian is heading, this event is designed to give you clarity, perspective, and practical takeaways.
We’re looking forward to seeing you!

**Testování, evaluace a monitoring LLM agentů**
SLM: mýty, realita a praxe, aneb nebojme se malých (lokálních) modelů, kdy dává smysl provozovat SLM, jaké mají reálné limity a výhody oproti cloudovým LLM a jaké use-casy už dnes fungují v praxi. No BS, s konkrétními zkušenostmi a doporučeními.
**Kdo bude mluvit?**
🎤 **[Petr Malík](https://www.linkedin.com/in/petr-malik/)** – Team leader, [Qest technologies](https://www.linkedin.com/company/qest-technologies/posts/?feedView=all)
🎤 **[Daniel Čupak](https://www.linkedin.com/in/daniel-cupak-prague/)** – Head of data, [Qest technologies](https://www.linkedin.com/company/qest-technologies/posts/?feedView=all)

Code Anywhere by Talking to your Phone
Drake Lundstrom is presenting:
Code Anywhere by Talking to your Phone
Abstract:
Have you heard the trend of people deploying code anywhere from checkout lines to doctors' offices? In this talk, you will learn how to talk to your phone and have an app on Azure to show your friend 5 minutes later. Making Moves: Small-Group Coaching for Women in Product

**What moves are you making?**
A promotion you’re working toward.
A role change you’re considering.
A bigger leadership opportunity.
A conversation that needs to happen.
A decision that’s been sitting in the back of your mind.
For our Q1 Women in Product Columbus event, we’re creating space to actually work through those moments.
**Making Moves** is an evening of focused, facilitated coaching conversations with experienced mentors from our local product community. This isn’t a panel. It’s not passive networking. It’s small-group dialogue designed to be thoughtful, practical, and worth your time.
Here’s how it will work:
• You’ll choose a topic that reflects what you’re navigating right now
• You’ll join a small coaching circle (5–7 participants)
• Each circle is led by a mentor who has lived experience in that area
• We’ll run two rounds so you can go deeper or explore a second conversation
### Coaching Topics:
• Communicating the Value of Your Work (or Team)
• Career Transitions & What’s Next
• Growing Into Leadership
• Staying Relevant as Technology (and AI) Changes
• Getting Alignment and Decisions from Leadership
Our goal is simple: you leave with clearer thinking, practical perspective, and at least one next step you feel confident about.
Space in each circle will be limited to keep conversations meaningful.
If this sounds like the kind of room you’ve been wanting to be in, we’d love to see you on March 10.
