Drop in to our regular Open Social for a great alternative Saturday evening. It's a great informal way to see the space and meet members and visitors. If you’ve never been in before, we’ll give you the grand tour of the space. Talk to members and visitors about projects or things that you’d like to do. If you like what you see, ask about joining as a full member. Membership brings many benefits. Weather and volunteer permitting, we might have our wood fired pizza oven going outside! Join us for coffee, a chat and bring your project at the CHQ (fully accessible venue). We're usually at the tables in the middle of the building - just look out for the yarn :) There's a choice of cafes, including the Bakehouse & Starbucks. There's no charge for the meetup but we ask please that you join our Whatsapp group if you plan on staying with the group. Cost is only €5 a year to pay for Meetup subs etc.

It’s a New Year and Spring is almost upon us. Many of us at TOG are keen vegetable growers and we’re now looking forward to the growing season ahead. The harvest last year was super, so let’s hope for a repeat. Join us at TOG for a free seed and plant swap from 3 PM. We'll be planting lots of seeds on the day and hopefully no one will go away empty handed. We have lots of pots and we'll have a bag of potting compost too. If you have anything surplus that you'd like to share, why not bring it along.... seeds? plants? cuttings? We'd love to hear your own stories of what you like to plant in your own garden or space. Tell your friends and family about the event. If you're involved with any community gardens, then definitely tell them also. The kettle will be on all day with plenty of tea and coffee and biscuits. From 7PM that same day, it’s our regular monthly Open Social event which you are welcome to join also. There’ll be pizza and plenty of chat and craic as usual. TOG is a non-profit space run by unpaid volunteers. Donations are always welcome.

So this month's prompt is more general. I think we can all agree that we are living in "unique" times that require coping skills. I think that one role and/or purpose of philosophy is to help us deal with our daily lives and our "unique" times. So, let's share our feelings and thoughts about which philosopher/philosophy we turn to in order to deal with our crazy events. Who/what helps you stay focused in your daily life and helps you sleep at night. I find that Stoicism with a little philosophical pessimism mixed in goes a long way in helping me deal with what I see as very destructive, fearful and mean spirited public policies at both the state and federal levels.
