Join us for a relaxed and social evening of pool right in the heart of downtown. Whether you're wrapping up your workday nearby or just looking for something different to do in the city, this meetup is designed for people who enjoy good conversation, a bit of friendly competition, and a lively atmosphere.

* Rotating play so everyone gets involved
* A mix of beginners, casual players, and regulars
* Music, energy, and a central downtown setting

🏸 Early Morning Badminton
👋Hello folks, this is Manish!
I’m trying to build a daily habit of playing badminton in the early morning, and I’m scheduling this event for anyone who is interested in joining.
🏸 The idea is simple — start the day with energy, fitness, and a good game of badminton before work.
It’s a great way to stay active, refresh your mind, and carry that energy into work and everything else you do. Imagine showing up to work already feeling accomplished, energized, and in a great mood — that’s what a morning like this can do for you!
🌅 There’s something special about early mornings — the fresh air, the quiet, and the satisfaction of doing something great for yourself before the day even begins.
Whether you’re a seasoned player or have never picked up a racket before, you are welcome here. No pressure, just good vibes, friendly competition, and a whole lot of fun.
If you’re interested, feel free to join us! All skill levels are welcome. Let’s make mornings more active and fun! 💪🏸
💰 About the cost — just $5 per person!
That’s less than your morning coffee, and way more rewarding. For just $5, you get a full session of fun, fitness, and great company. It’s one of the best investments you can make in your health and your mornings. 🙌
Let’s build something great together — one morning at a time. See you on the court! 🏸
Bigger, Better, Bolder Miss Bachata & Miss Salsa
**Welcome to Miss Bachata & Miss Salsa!**
Summer has arrived—and with it, long, golden evenings, warm breezes, and the irresistible call of the dance floor! It’s the season of sun-kissed smiles, fresh adventures, and reconnecting with the joy of being together. At Miss Bachata & Miss Salsa, we’re ready to turn up the heat and fill your Monday nights with rhythm, laughter, and community spirit.
My objective has always been to create a different kind of social gathering—one that is open, non-judgmental, and safe. A place where you can meet people just like you, where socializing and dancing come together to help build community and tear down the walls that separate us. Here, we make new friends, feel a sense of belonging, and enjoy the calmness that comes from knowing we are in a safe and welcoming space.
Many times, I have been asked, “Why host an event on Monday night?” Many people escape on the weekend and dread Mondays when they return to work. I believe that if you dance and socialize on a Monday, you infuse your week with joy and positive energy, giving your life balance and helping you face your challenges with enthusiasm and confidence.
We’re also thrilled to announce that our trial of advanced Bachata lessons, which began last September, has been a resounding success! Building on this momentum, we’re excited to offer an enhanced schedule for 2026. Our dance evenings will now feature three hours of classes: one hour of beginner to intermediate Bachata, one hour of advanced Bachata, and one hour of beginner to intermediate Salsa. As always, the entrance fee remains $15 for a night of 2 lessons and social dancing. For those interested in the advanced Bachata lessons, there will be an additional $5 fee.
Here’s our updated schedule:
**Miss Bachata – Main Ballroom**
🕖 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm: Beginner to Intermediate Bachata Lesson (No partner required)
🕗 8:00 pm – 12:00 am: Social Dancing
**Miss Salsa – Round Room**
🕖 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm: Advanced Bachata Lesson (+$5) **NEW**
🕗 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm: Beginner to Intermediate Salsa Lesson
🕘 9:00 pm – 12:00 am: Social Dancing
✨ **Additional Details:**
✔️ Free Parking
✔️ Full Bar (Water Bottle $1, Beer: $5.75)
Over the past decade, organizing Latin dancing events in Mississauga has been a labor of love. Our mission has always been to foster a sense of community, proving that the connections we share are far stronger than the differences that divide us.
Loneliness is a growing concern, with over half of U.S. adults and many Canadians experiencing its effects. The COVID-19 pandemic has only heightened this issue. Harvard University's long-term study on happiness, which began in 1938, highlights the detrimental impact of loneliness on health. People with strong social connections experience slower mental and physical decline and greater overall happiness compared to those who are isolated.
Here are some key findings from the study:
🌿 Close ties help delay mental and physical decline more than money, fame, social class, IQ, or genetics.
🌿 Relationship satisfaction is a better predictor of aging well than cholesterol levels in middle age.
🌿 A strong sense of community improves memory function.
🌿 Loneliness can be as harmful to health as smoking or alcoholism.
But there’s hope! Strengthening our relationships and supporting community initiatives can combat loneliness and build healthier, happier lives. Miss Bachata & Miss Salsa provides a wonderful opportunity to make new friends, expand your social circle, and enjoy a safe, welcoming, authentic environment. Bring your open heart and a smile, and we’ll take care of the rest.
🌞 ***Cheers to a season of sunshine, joy, and community!*** 🌞

Drumming Circle & Uplifting Discussion 🪘✨🌍
**NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**
**About Drum & Soul**
Drum & Soul is a participatory community space that combines drumming, singing, reflection and conversation in one shared experience. Through rhythms from different cultures, collective music making and meaningful discussion around a focused theme, we practise qualities that strengthen both the individual and the community.
This is more than a drumming circle. It is a space where people can grow in expression, presence, listening, and contribution, while learning how these same qualities can be carried into everyday life and relationships.
---
...
**Why come**
Come if you want to grow your expressive capacity, feel more at ease participating with others, and be part of a growing space that celebrates the human in us. Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, background or musical experience.
If you feel shy in groups, that is completely natural. Many people arrive unsure and leave feeling surprisingly at home.
---
...
**How it works**
---
We begin with a short breathing and centring exercise, followed by simple rhythm demonstration and call and response drumming. We then move into smaller group discussion around a shared theme. From there we shift into collective jamming and improvisation, and end with a potluck meal and informal connection.
---
...
**Typical meeting flow**
1. 🫱🏽🫲🏻 Arrival & social time – 15 min
2. 🙋🏻♀️ Welcome, check in and centring – 15 min
3. 🪘 Call & Respond **Drumming & demo** – 20 min
4. 💬 Facilitated **Discussion** on the Theme (groups of five-or so) – 20 min
5. 🕺🏽 Open **Jamming** with multiple instruments – 30 min
6. 🦋 Potluck **dinner** & social time afterwards – 60 min
*This outline is flexible and may shift to suit the group and the space.*
---
...
**Logistics & what to bring**
Our next Drum & Soul gathering will be held outdoors in the park. If the weather turns rainy, we will move the gathering to our usual indoor location (you'll be notified in the comment section of any changes).
Since outdoor seating is limited, please bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket if you can.
Drums are available on a first come, first served basis, and we will also provide plenty of small percussion instruments so every hand can play. You are welcome to bring your own drum or instrument.
We end the evening with a shared **potluck meal**, an extension of the circle where conversation and connection continue. Since the event is free, we warmly ask everyone to bring a small item to share if they are able. Simple finger foods and easy to serve savoury items are especially helpful, such as fruit, veggies and dip, wraps, sandwiches, hummus and pita, samosas, spring rolls, crackers and cheese, or other meal friendly bites. Sweet items are welcome too, but meal friendly contributions are especially appreciated.
---
...
**Cost & contributions**
---
This is a free event. If you are unable to bring food, you are welcome to make an optional contribution toward refreshments and materials by e-transfer to **hooshmandnyc@gmail.com**
---
...
**Helpful notes**
---
No prep needed. Doors open at 3:45 p.m. Please arrive by then so we can start at 4:00 p.m. sharp and keep the flow. Location and any last minute updates are posted on Meetup and in our WhatsApp group. We recommend joining the WhatsApp group (ask us for the link at the venue) for quick notices.
---
...
**Life Between Gatherings**
Drum & Soul does not begin and end with the monthly session. For those who want to continue beyond the gatherings and go deeper, we also have:
• **Advanced sessions** for those who want to go further in drumming technique and explore the discussion themes more deeply in a smaller group
• **Home or café meetups** for simple in-person connection, where a few participants can continue the conversation more personally and naturally
• **Ongoing contact** so the spirit of the gathering can carry into everyday life through our own reflection, friendship and mutual encouragement
Over time, these smaller spaces help strengthen connection, shared learning, and community life between sessions. Ask us about these features for more detail.
---
...
**Why this matters**
Our world is like a sick body, and is aching for a lasting remedy. We believe our special mission here is to nurture one another, define our roles in service to our fellow humans, and become living temples of unity. A meaningful growth unfolds through both self‑discovery and collective effort, and one cannot truly flourish without the other. Come open and prepared to learn, to offer your gifts, and to be strengthened by the power of community.

Are you Smarter than a Scottish Guy Trivia - One Eyed Jack's Richmond Street
Our favourite trivia host, Simon from Are You Smarter than a Scottish Guy, is at One-Eyed Jack's (287 Richmond Road - between Spadina and Peter Streets). The beer selection is starting to improve, with several KLB selections; their food menu is very good [https://www.oneeyedjackpub.com/torontomenu](https://www.oneeyedjackpub.com/torontomenu). They have a set of Trivia Night specials, including wings with lots of flavours.
The trivia starts at 7:00pm with first question around 7:15 pm. We have a set of pair of tables reserved under Steve. Serious RSVPs only as no-shows prevent us from fielding a complete team.
Top prizes is a gift certificate for the next visit. Other prizes are a free round for the table and nachos. There is also a small prize for best team name, so put on your creative hat; the host seems to like puns and prefers short team names.
Let's have some fun, eat some wings, and hopefully win!
