We're hosting another in-person writing session - back in COSTA Dawson so we can sit together comfortably. What is a write-together? It's a couple of focused writing sprints (30 mins each) with breaks in between for for snacks and chats. It's a chance to get some writing done and to meet other writers. Hi, all Independent Movie Lovers. You are invited meet at 7 pm, on Friday the 20th of February. This meeting is at the Café on the ground floor of the Light House Cinema, Smithfield Square, Dublin. We will discuss the film: **My Father's Shadow** (2025), directed by Akinola Davies. My Father's Shadow is set in 1993, and examines a family's struggles in Lagos. We will also discuss: **Apocalypse Now** (1979), directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Several versions are in circulation. It seems the Apple TV and Sky Store are showing the 147 minute cut that was essentially the original theatrical release. I think Coppola's 2019 'Final Cut' is available for rental from YouTube, and this would be the preferred cut for discussion. We will watch the movies independently, and meet for discussion on Friday the 20th of February, at 7 pm, at the Café on the ground floor of the Light House Cinema, Smithfield Square. **My Father's Shadow** is showing at some Dublin cinemas, including Cineworld in Parnell St, the Light House Cinema at Smithfield, and the IFI, Eustace St, until Thursday the 12th of February. **Apocalypse Now**, the 'final cut' is available for online rental on YouTube. For this event, we’ll help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents, wash dishes and clean surfaces at Fath Mission – Grant Kitchen. We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “Create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. Our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:15am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants.
