Secret Gardens: Botanical Watercolour in the Open Air
Secret Gardens: Botanical Watercolour in the Open Air
Join us for a two-day Botanical Watercolour experience, where we’ll step out of the studio and into two *almost hidden* gardens in Friedrichshain to paint plants directly from life 🌿 Over two days, we’ll meet in two different, *almost hidden* gardens in Friedrichshain—quiet green corners of the city where we can slow down, observe, and paint plants directly from life. Think wild flowers, textured leaves, unexpected shapes, shifting light… and the simple joy of painting outdoors. This is more than just a meet-up: **it’s a guided class designed to help you grow your skills while you enjoy the process.** We’ll start each session exploring essential watercolour techniques—wet-on-wet, layering, colour mixing, and transparency—and then apply them to what we see around us. You’ll learn how to approach different types of plants, how to simplify complex forms, and which techniques and effects work best for each subject. No experience needed—just curiosity, and a love for plants, light, and slow summer days 🌱 The workshop includes **two classes**, but you’re also welcome to join individual sessions. **When:** Wednesday 20 + 27 May From 6 to 7.30 PM **Where:** Friedrichshain, Berlin (You will receive the exact address by e-mail) **Price:** 50€ for the whole workshop (2 classes) Single class 27€ / Paypal & Bank Transfer **Material:** You will need a watercolour set, watercolour paper (or sketchbook) and brushes. If you need suggestions about the material, get in touch. If you need some recommendations, this might help: **[Quick Material Guide](https://www.instagram.com/p/DBRDE95Ia5D/?img_index=2)** **To book your spot:** Please confirm here: **hola.berlinartclub@gmail.com,** and you will receive the payment details and the exact address. ***Super small groups! RSVP here is not considered booked.*** You can find my work [HERE](https://www.instagram.com/lujancordaro/) and all updated classes [HERE ](https://www.instagram.com/berlin.art.club/) Come slow down, get your hands moving, and reconnect with nature 🌿 See you!! Free Workshop: Hacking Business Models in the Cultural Sector
Free Workshop: Hacking Business Models in the Cultural Sector
Let’s be honest: the traditional cultural sector often forces us to choose between our creative integrity and our financial survival. The myth of the "starving artist" or the "solitary genius" is a trap that keeps cultural workers in a constant state of precarity. But what if we could design our projects differently? What if we could build cultural businesses based on solidarity, cooperation, and radical sustainability? Join us on May 27th for an interactive, hands-on workshop co-hosted by ODBK and Travelling U. We will explore how to dismantle extractivist practices and design alternative business models that actually serve the creators. **What you will learn in this session:** * Beyond the Canvas: How to view system design and business models as part of your artistic medium. * Alternative Frameworks: An introduction to cooperative structures and the solidarity economy. * Redefining Value: How to measure the success of your cultural project using metrics of care, rather than just capitalist extraction. * Real-World Pathways: Tangible examples of cultural workers who have successfully subverted the system to gain economic sovereignty. **Who is this for?** Artists, cultural managers, creative freelancers, and social entrepreneurs in Berlin who are tired of the traditional hustle culture and want to explore sustainable, collective ways to structure their work. **About the Facilitator:** Oihane Amurrio is an artist, educator, and cultural entrepreneur based in Berlin. She specialises in designing alternative pedagogical models in the cultural sector and is the lead designer of the *Cooperative Cultural Entrepreneurship (CCE)* program at Travelling U.

Come as you are. *** 📅 Wed, May 27, 6:00 PM 📍 Mauerpark & Humboldthain (Meeting point: at Gedenkstätte Bernauer Straße, [https://maps.app.goo.gl/mfuaiQRrPDFjtMpBA](https://maps.app.goo.gl/mfuaiQRrPDFjtMpBA)) 📩 You’re welcome to join our [WhatsApp group](https://www.alexander-steinfeldt.de/hikes/berlin-pilgrims/) for updates and connection before the hike. 🧭 Pilgrim Guide Alex (Mail alexander.steinfeldt@outlook.com or WhatsApp +49 157 57652601)

Street³ Fotografie, Wahrnehmung & echtes Berlin
Street³ Fotografie, Wahrnehmung & echtes Berlin
This street walk combines urban exploration, perception and photography in Berlin. We make a conscious effort to stay away from the usual tourist routes, exploring Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg and the areas in between. Street life, people, movement and street food are just as much a part of the experience as the photography itself. This format is less of a traditional photography tour and more of an urban experience that blends perception, a sense of the city and photography. The camera serves not only to capture subjects, but as a tool to see more consciously and perceive moments differently. Those looking for quick tourist snaps or purely technical instruction are unlikely to be entirely satisfied here. On the other hand, anyone curious about how strongly perception, attention and atmosphere influence which images are created and which memories remain is likely to be in exactly the right place here. The format is aimed at people interested in photography, at Berliners from the neighbourhood as well as those who want to experience Berlin in a different way. Not as a traditional tour, but something more intimate. Some come for the photographic eye, some for the atmosphere, and some simply to perceive the city more consciously again. I come from a background in perceptual psychology with a passion for photography, and I combine this perspective with urban experiences. The first walks are part of a beta phase, during which I’d like to try out shared street experiences outside of team events as well. To ensure this format can continue in its current form, the suggested donation is from €20. Bring along your curiosity, a camera or a smartphone to capture your experiences. The rest will happen as we go. I look forward to seeing you all and to our first walks together this summer. Pierre
Zwischen Postkartenmotiv & deinem Bild
Zwischen Postkartenmotiv & deinem Bild
*English follows below* **Berlin hat genug Postkarten. Was dich wirklich anhält. Vorfreudige Grüße Pierre \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- **Between Postcard Motif & Your Image** **Berlin has enough postcards. This time it's about finding out which image in it is truly yours.** In 3 hours we move from Ostkreuz through the RAW Gelände and Warschauer Brücke to Oberbaumbrücke. Through places chosen deliberately because they're full of contrasts, movement and that typical Berlin energy you can't stage. No guided tour, no checklist of spots. More like a shared playground for focus, attention and your own inner photographic eye. **At the center is a question that almost never gets asked on regular photo walks: How do you filter out from all the noise, the stimuli and the thousand possible subjects of a big city what actually matters to you?** Not what's worth seeing according to a travel guide. What genuinely stops you in your tracks. With small exercises, real exchange and places that have enough friction to become interesting, we look together at how focus, imagination and your own inner vision influence which images emerge. And why some photos still feel alive later, while others are forgotten three seconds after opening them. Some people notice for the first time here how strongly their own perception changes photography. The ending is a real Berlin moment. Cold "Späti" drinks and/or street food, surrounded by a few of the city's most iconic postcard motifs. Not as a tourist selfie spot, but to see your own images differently and take home ideas from other people's perspectives that you wouldn't have found alone. **Smartphone or camera, beginner or pro: The space is wide enough for everyone to work at their own level. What counts is curiosity about your own perception and the desire for more than the typical tourist photo tour.** Suggested donation from 20 €. => Small group, full attention. I'm looking forward to you and your eye. To the images nobody has made yet, because they've been waiting for you. Warm regards and anticipation, Pierre

Filmmakers & Movie Nerds Meetup #181
Curious what we do? Check our [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/filmmakersandmovienerds/) ♥️ Would you like to meet some like-minded filmmakers? Start a project? Or do you need help with a movie you are currently working on? Are you new in the city and you'd like to meet people tinkering with movies? **Then you should join us!** We meet every Sunday. It’s important to us that we get to know each other in person. To create a community of connected people, work, learn and grow together. For film making you need a crew of reliable people with a positive can-do-attitude. This is the place to find them. Together, we will talk about these topics: * What you are currently working on * What you need help with * What would you like to help with * What you you would like to learn This is event is great for: * filmmakers * movie nerds * writers * camera operators * editors * actors * sound recorders * composers * gaffers * producers We are limiting the amount of people, so we can have a structured introduction and discussion. After that we get together loosely with some drinks and chats. And then we mostly go for dinner with a couple of us. **Important information**: *To sustain and grow this amazing community, we started a member contribution that is due every month. The money we collect is used solely for the purpose of the community. Of course you can come once or twice without contributing to check us out!*
Drawing Cafe [#22] Coffee & Sketching in Berlin
Drawing Cafe [#22] Coffee & Sketching in Berlin
We meet and sketch each other in Berlin. This is just an art gym that we also exercise our social skills. Afterwards usually we go for lunch as a group. **How Does It Work?** This event is simple, we meet and sketch each other doing portraits. Most of the participants use pencils or watercolors. Main aim is to socialize while we draw. There will be plenty of time to talk and get to know each other. We have to mention that this event is suitable for all levels. Many have started to draw in our event actually. **Structure** A. Warmup Phase: We pose to each other for 1 minute. B. Main Phase: We pose to each other for 10 minutes. C. Showcase Phase: We show some of the drawings we did to each other. **Who We Are** Creative Sessions is an art events group located in Berlin. **Is it Free?** The event is free of charge. It is advisable to get a drink though. This is a cafe, we need to have at least half of the people on each table with a drink. They accept only cash and most hot drinks cost from 2.50 to 3.50. **How to help or donate?** The event is provided for free but many people help this be a regular thing. We also need people to volunteer and help for minor tasks like the serving of the drinks or cleaning up. Just send us a message. If you want to donate and keep this event from happening, via Paypal to the host (Miltos) : https://ko-fi.com/miltosthings/ **Art Materials?** Bring your own art materials. **Our Instagram Profile** Follow us on instagram @icreativesessions Use the hashtag #icreativesessions on your post description there to find out drawings from the event!
