Filmmakers & Movie Nerds Meetup #183
Curious what we do? Check our [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/filmmakersandmovienerds/) ♥️
Would you like to meet some like-minded filmmakers? Start a project? Or do you need help with a movie you are currently working on? Are you new in the city and you'd like to meet people tinkering with movies?
**Then you should join us!**
We meet every Sunday. It’s important to us that we get to know each other in person. To create a community of connected people, work, learn and grow together. For film making you need a crew of reliable people with a positive can-do-attitude. This is the place to find them.
Together, we will talk about these topics:
* What you are currently working on
* What you need help with
* What would you like to help with
* What you you would like to learn
This is event is great for:
* filmmakers
* movie nerds
* writers
* camera operators
* editors
* actors
* sound recorders
* composers
* gaffers
* producers
We are limiting the amount of people, so we can have a structured introduction and discussion. After that we get together loosely with some drinks and chats. And then we mostly go for dinner with a couple of us.
**Important information**:
*To sustain and grow this amazing community, we started a member contribution that is due every month. The money we collect is used solely for the purpose of the community. Of course you can come once or twice without contributing to check us out!*
Calligraphy Workshop
Try out Japanese calligraphy with us!
Everything you need is ready, just come and enjoy.
The tradition of calligraphy was first brought to Japan from China in the 6th century. The style and technique, unique to Japan, later evolved and was practiced by the samurai, the nobility and the general public.
We will practice different types of kanji and try to transform them into artistic works, which you can of course take home with you.
I hope you have fun and discover new Japanese art!
書道のワークショップを開催します。

Drawing Cafe [#23] Coffee & Sketching in Berlin
We meet and sketch each other in Berlin. This is just an art gym that we also exercise our social skills. Afterwards usually we go for lunch as a group.
**How Does It Work?**
This event is simple, we meet and sketch each other doing portraits. Most of the participants use pencils or watercolors. Main aim is to socialize while we draw. There will be plenty of time to talk and get to know each other. We have to mention that this event is suitable for all levels. Many have started to draw in our event actually.
**Structure**
A. Warmup Phase: We pose to each other for 1 minute.
B. Main Phase: We pose to each other for 10 minutes.
C. Showcase Phase: We show some of the drawings we did to each other.
**Who We Are**
Creative Sessions is an art events group located in Berlin.
**Is it Free?**
The event is free of charge.
It is advisable to get a drink though. This is a cafe, we need to have at least half of the people on each table with a drink. They accept only cash and most hot drinks cost from 2.50 to 3.50.
**How to help or donate?**
The event is provided for free but many people help this be a regular thing. We also need people to volunteer and help for minor tasks like the serving of the drinks or cleaning up. Just send us a message.
If you want to donate and keep this event from happening, via Paypal to the host (Miltos) :
https://ko-fi.com/miltosthings/
**Art Materials?**
Bring your own art materials.

June Get-Together
Hei!
Duminică, 7 iunie, organizăm o nouă întâlnire a comunității!
Portrait Drawing on Sunday Afternoon
This group is for everyone who is interested in drawing portraits!
For me, drawing has been a wonderful way to gain a new perspective on the world and the people within it.
Whether you are just starting out or have been drawing for ages — all levels are welcome :)
How it works:
1\. We meet at The Castle pub in Mitte and do short sittings of 15 minutes for each other\. The first sitting is divided into 3 warm\-up sketches\, 5 minutes each\.
2\. Before we start\, everybody writes their name on a blank card \(provided by the organizer\); these cards are then used to randomly pick the model every 15 minutes\.
3\. Usually we do 8 sittings\, with a 15\-minute break in the middle \(so after 4 sittings\, or 1 hour\)\.
-> The participation is free, but it is expected that everybody orders something from the bar to support the lovely location.
Get out your pencils and let's start!
Please bring your own art supplies!

Afternoon Walk+Coffee in Berlin: Sonnenallee/Treptower/Kreuzberg👣🚶🚶♀️☀️🥐☕🍪
1 EURO DONATION FEE PER PERSON IS REQUIRED (on site, in cash), to pay back the Meetup subscription fees and support my Events.
READ THE DESCRIPTION WITH THE INFO (IMPORTANT).
We take a walk in Berlin to meet new people or people we already know 😁
It's a way to spend a few hours together on a Sunday afternoon.
**How it works?**
The concept is very simple:
* We meet at Sonnenallee Station at 14,15 o'clock (we use the Whatsapp Chat to find each other: I will post there my exact location outside the station)
* I wait for people for 10 minutes, till 14,25, then we start to walk direction Treptower Park, crossing the park 🌳🌳🌳 and going along the Spree river, to then go further
* We go on along the Landwehrkanal, exploring Kreuzberg 🏠
* The total length of the walk is about 8kms
* We land finally here to take coffee, a drink, or some food, and spend more time together ([https://maps.app.goo.gl/RsUCxwDKK6yVtiF48](https://maps.app.goo.gl/RsUCxwDKK6yVtiF48))
I consider that the event will last in overall around 4 hours (2 hours of walk 🚶🚶♀️ and 2 hours at the Cafe/Restaurant), but people are free to stay together longer, if they want 🙂
What I provide is leading the walk and the people at the Cafe, but I do not force anyone to stay shorter or longer.
I do not provide a "personal support" for people who arrive after 14,25 (do not write to me expecting "private support").
You are responsible to check for the weather and decide if come or not.
Thanks for understanding.
If you have to contact me, make it via Whatsapp, not here on Meetup.

Fold Me Back To Anima
Multiple wonderful folding afternoons and creative moments have taken place at **[Anima](https://anima.radio/)** over the years, so we are thrilled to bring some paper magic back to this cozy corner of Berlin once again 💜 Whether you are folding with us for the first time or are an established regular by now, expect a relaxed and fun afternoon of folding, learning, chatting, and community spirit 📄✨
What you can expect at all our events:
* **Donation in any amount you choose** – this covers essential costs like the Meetup subscription and keeps our community thriving 🌱 You can either submit a **physical donation** to the event host in person or make a **digital donation** **[here](https://paypal.me/origamiberlin?locale.x=de_DE&country.x=DE)** (and inform the host afterwards).
* In-person folding practice for all levels – beginners and experienced folders are equally welcome.
* Origami paper + model instructions will be provided (from the host’s collection, for reference only). Feel free to bring your own favorite sheets or tools!
* Photos may be taken for memories & our archive (Meetup, Instagram, Telegram) – let the host know if you prefer not to appear.
* **Please order at least one drink and/or food item to support [Anima](https://anima.radio/)** **for hosting us!**!
⚠️ **RSVP Policy – Please Read** ⚠️
Our community has grown a lot since its birth in August 2024, which is amazing — but it also means we need to handle RSVPs more carefully:
* RSVP opens **7 days before** each event (apart from short-notice events) and closes at **noon on the event day**.
* Please cancel your spot or contact the host directly (via Meetup message function or our [Telegram channel](https://t.me/+T4URs80l2ig3NWNi)) by **noon on the event day** if you can't make it last minute.
* Members with **2 no-shows** (without notice) will be removed from the group unless a valid reason is provided.
Thank you for keeping things fun and reliable together as a community! 🙏
Get in touch if you have questions anytime, see you all at the folding tables very soon! 💜
Sunday Morning Pages Brunch
A Sunday morning just for you and your words. We’ll be meeting at the beautiful Kunstraum Heartspace in Prenzlauer Berg – a small group, plenty of peace and quiet, and vegan treats.
Here’s what our morning will look like:
First, we’ll settle in together with a guided meditation to clear our minds and get us in the mood for writing.
Then we’ll dive straight in: a first writing exercise with reflective questions on a shared theme – gratitude, focus, best-case scenarios or a look at our goals.
These prompts come from my online course “Journaling for Beginners” and offer you a gentle, structured introduction to writing.
Of course, there’s also time for free writing: On your own project, with further writing prompts from me, or simply with whatever’s on your mind at the moment. To finish, anyone who’d like to can read a passage aloud or briefly share what moved them that morning – entirely voluntary, of course.
By the way: It doesn’t matter at all whether you’re just starting out or have been writing for a long time. All levels are welcome!

Bouldering Session
Have you always wanted to learn bouldering but never had the right company? Or are you an experienced boulderer who just wants to find boulder-buddies? If yes, this is the right event for you.
We are going to meet inside "urban apes Basement Boulderstudio", close to S Anhalter Bahnhof, also not far from Potsdamer Platz. If you have never been there, you will need to sign up with them, which will take a bit of time. After that, **you can find us on the couches near the lockers (not in front of the reception), next to a red smiley**. When you enter the actual gym, enter the hall by turning left immediately - you are walking towards them. We will start warming up around 11:10, so everyone has enough time to arrive and get changed before that.
***\*\*\**** *Spots are limited, so please update your RSVP at least 24 hours in advance if you won't be joining. **NO-SHOWs ARE NOT COOL \*\*\****
We enter the gym at 11:00, if you are late, you will need to look for us inside.
IMPORTANT: they only accept cards as a payment method. No cash. One day ticket will cost you 13,90 EUR (10,90 EUR if you are a student, free if Urban Sports Club).
**What to bring: well, first of all, a good mood.**
But you could also bring
* climbing shoes if you have any. If not, you can rent them there, no worries. They cost 3,50 EUR.
* a lock (for the locker).
* chalk. You won't need that if you are a beginner. Renting is possible.
* water.
* extra clothes. It's quite chalky there and humans sweat, not the best mix, don't you think? :D
Please, note: the organizer is not responsible for anything, including injuries. A basic introduction will be provided.

Monthly Meeting (TBD)
TOPIC (TBD):
Meeting Schedule:
1. 6:00 - Introduction, Meet New Members
2. 6:10 - Old Business
3. 6:20 - New Business
4. 6:30 - Pre-Shoot Briefing/Education
5. 7:15 - Break
6. 7:30 - Image Critique
7. 8:00 - Adjourn
Pre-Shoot Brief/Education:
NIK Collection 8
Image Critique:
Previous Photoshoot Images (iPhone images and Christmas Cards). If anyone has images they would like critiqued, please provide them at the beginning of the meeting.
Providing Images for Critique:
For now, I will collect images at the beginning of the meeting on a USB memory stick. My computer has USB-C ports, so a USB-C memory stick or one with dual (USB-C / USB-A) ports will be needed.
Images should follow these format rules:
JPG - 80% quality or higher
132 dpi resolution
2048 pixels across the long edge
Embedded colorspace - sRGB
The Completely Series
These meetings will be a building block approach to learning photographic mastery over three disciplines:
Mechanical Mastery (MM) - 13 weeks of the series
Exposure Mastery (EM) - 26 weeks of the series
Composition Mastery (CM) - A 52 week series
All three series will run concurrently and will dovetail as follows:
Q3/26 - MM (Iter 1), EM (Iter 1, Pt 1), CM (Iter 1, Pt1)
Q4/26 - MM (Iter 2), EM (Iter 1, Pt 2), CM (Iter 1, Pt2)
Q1/27 - MM (Iter 3), EM (Iter 2, Pt 1), CM (Iter 1, Pt3)
Q2/27 - MM (Iter 4), EM (Iter 2, Pt 2), CM (Iter 1, Pt4)
That's likely confusing, but essentially, MM offered 4 times in that period, EM offered 2 times, and CM offered 1 time.
**TO BE CLEAR - THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR THESE CLASSES.**
This is an aggressive series, with presentations, homework, group shoots to be added in, likely at LEAST twice a month, image critiques, and an expectation that you are willing to put in the work to elevate your photography significantly. Open to all levels and all equipment levels. Don't let hesitation about your skillset and/or gear keep you from a one-time opportunity.
The group will meet every Monday, with periodic exceptions, and we will try to keep as close as possible to the original plan. Obviously, more data to come, and will be published as this is further developed, but now is the time to decide if you want to be a part of this.
Bondage Photography Demonstration
*Note: this is a demonstration event only, you **will not** shoot you own images. However, if you bring your camera we can test it for compatibility with the studio lights.*
Bondage elements can add an extra layer of emotion and artistry to your images. Sample images on the internet are however dominated by BDSM style shots that are often sexualized and emphasize the model being in distress. In this demonstration Rachel and I show ways to use bondage elements in an artistic way. We explore the types of accessories that work best in artistic images and the best way to photograph them.
Our model is Rachel Adams, an internationally known fetish model with many years of experience in this genre.
