Hi, my name is Karan. I am the co-founder of the Money Minds community.
When I started investing, I didn't have any help. I've learned how to navigate markets by making a lot of mistakes and I still have a lot to learn. I believe that investing cannot be taught but it can be learned.
My intention behind these Practical Investing Discussions is to cultivate a space where people **ask questions, share practical knowledge** and hopefully **learn vicariously**.
Inspired by Charlie Munger’s wisdom, \*"The best thing a human being can do is to help another human being know more" \*our event fosters a spirit of knowledge-sharing and mutual growth. Expect engaging discussions, fresh perspectives, and opportunities to forge meaningful connections with fellow Money Minds members.

Practical Philosophy Meetup - Dubai 🇦🇪
**🏛️ WHAT'S PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY ABOUT?**
**Practical Philosophy is a weekly meet-up that brings critical thinkers together for an opportunity to dive deep on a topic, practice communicating, and building a community. All with no ‘official’ philosophy knowledge required! 😎**
**Practical Philosophy is based on the idea that philosophy should be accessible to all, and not something reserved only for academics. Each week we choose a topic, and the goal is to use the conversation to develop our critical thinking and communication as we explore that topic.**
**The goal is to help develop our Critical Thinking, Communication, and Community 🙌**
**📓 HOW DOES IT WORK?**
**Each week, we pick one topic and discuss it. The topic for the week is shared, generally in the** [Whatsapp group](https://chat.whatsapp.com/CdjwVxcf2EO6vcLWUhaIdk?mode=ems_copy_c)**, along with jump-off points to get the conversation going.**
**General Meeting Agenda**
**Each Practical Philosophy meet-up follows this general timeline:**
* **3:30-3:45- People arrive and chat, get to know each other before the official start.**
* **3:45-3:55 - Meeting introduction, explanation of Practical Philosophy and the topic for the week, read the guidelines and the overview so attendees know what to expect in terms of timelines.**
* **3:55-5:20 - Participants share their general thoughts on the topic, open discussion afterwards. At this point the group can review the ‘jump-off’ questions as needed, but they are just there to help guide the conversation. It’s not obligatory to answer them.**
* **5:20-5:30 - Bring everyone back together to discuss conclusions, organizer then concludes the meeting and everyone takes a group photo.**
* **5:30 - The official meeting is over but it’s a great opportunity to get to know people in a non-structured environment, so we often stick around, chat, and get to know each other.**
**🧧PRICING?**
**Practical Philosophy Club is FREE to attend! We just request that that you buy a beverage or food item as our venue requires it to give us a private room.**
**💛 WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY**
**🗣** **“I feel like Philosophy Club helps someone build their own belief system through a series of perspectives while not promoting what’s right and wrong” - Ekam**
**🗣 “I got hooked from day 1 (the topic was authority) and felt it was the right place for me. I feel it is a place where people can go to learn and discuss new perspectives and increase critical thinking and community by interacting with people who might challenge your point of views but at the same time encourage you to have openness and mind flexibility.” - Daniel**
**🤓 FAQ**
* **What will we talk about? What's the topic?**
**The topic for the week is shared every Sunday in the Whatsapp group. We try to add the topic to the comment section on this event page as well but if you don’t see it, the topic and the jump-off points will be in our** [Whatsapp](https://chat.whatsapp.com/CdjwVxcf2EO6vcLWUhaIdk?mode=ems_copy_c)**.**
* **Do I need to study or read anything to attend?**
**No preparation is necessary. This isn’t a study of other thinkers. We want to know what YOU think about the topic, not what an old philosopher thought. If you have a perspective from a religion or a school of thought to share, throw it on the table and we’ll discuss it, but it's not required.**
* **Is there a specific philosophy that Practical Philosophy is focused on?**
**The goal of our meet-ups is to not have dogmatic discussions, and flex our critical thinking muscles. Because of this, we want to hear from every realm of thought, and don't study a particular school.**
* **Is it mostly men that attend?**
**Surprisingly, no! Although philosophy is seen as a Candelabra affair in a dark room with a bunch of guys, our Practical Philosophy meetups are generally 50/50 between genders, and we don’t meet in any dark rooms.**
* **Can I come alone?**
**Of course you can, we encourage it :)**
* **Can I be late?**
**Please don't be! We do have a 15 minute grace period where we allow people to funnel in while we hang out, but after that if you arrive too late, it disrupts the flow of the conversation.**
* **Where do you meet?**
**The location is posted in Meetup and our** [Whatsapp](https://chat.whatsapp.com/CdjwVxcf2EO6vcLWUhaIdk?mode=ems_copy_c) **group for this location. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you join the Whatsapp group! If you want to know what other cities have a Practical Philosophy Club, you can see our chapters on our** [website](https://www.practicalphilosophy.club/)**.**
**🤝POLICY**
**To respect our members privacy, we ask that no one privately message a member without first getting explicit consent. (This looks like speaking in person and being asked to message privately.) Dubai Downtown Book Club | Book: "Feel Good Productivity" 📚
Welcome to the **Downtown Dubai Book Discussion Circle (every 2 weeks Tuesday)**.
📚✨ This session is about the book: "Feel Good Productivity" Book by Ali Abdaal
We will try a new format & for this session (only!) you can read the book beforehand, but don’t have to. The Book Club host will pick 2-3 exercises and facilitate the session
The RSVP will open 3 days before the event. Please only RSVP, if you’re actually planning **join the event on Tuesday**, so our discussions can stay rich, focused, and meaningful for everyone. ✨
-> From experience, we’ve seen that 15 people is the sweet spot for a great conversation: we have a core group of regular attendees (10 people) - and we open up every session for 5 new members, so we are excited to meet you.
Few Additional Notes to make this a great event:
**1️⃣ Cost**: The event itself is free to attend. You’re simply responsible for covering your own food and drinks at the cafe. 😊
**2️⃣ You plans changed?** Please kindly update your RSVP if your plans change (we usually have a long waiting list; if you free up your spot -> others can join).
This small step makes a big difference in organizing a great session for all.

Art of War: Strategy Session
**THE ART OF WARSTRATEGY SESSION**
**A closed-room HUMEIN discussion on timing, power, and strategic judgment.**
**For the first time, HUMEIN privately convenes a small group for The Art of War Strategy Session, a half-day in-person discussion for people who want to study strategy as a practical craft.**
**For more than two thousand years, The Art of War has endured because its subject was never simply war. It was judgment.**
**In modern life, the battlefield has changed but the questions have not.**
**Leaders still need to decide which battles deserve attention. Founders still need to position before they compete. Executives still need to negotiate before conditions harden. Teams still need to make decisions under pressure, uncertainty, and limited information.**
**This session will move through Sun Tzu’s 13 chapters and examine how his ideas apply to modern leadership, competition, negotiation, and decision-making.**
**The Room Will Center on Three Questions**
**Diplomacy**
**How do you win before the fight begins?**
**Strategy begins before confrontation. We will examine how positioning, perception, restraint, and influence can shape outcomes before conflict becomes visible.**
**Picking Your Battles**
**How do you decide which fights are worth taking?**
**Not every challenge deserves your energy. We will explore how to distinguish between meaningful conflict, distracting conflict, and battles that are better won by not entering them at all.**
**The Perfect Timing**
**When does a plan become a result?**
**Good strategy is not only about what to do. It is about when to move. We will explore timing, readiness, pressure, momentum, and the conditions that turn intention into outcome.**
**What Participants Will Leave With**
**Participants will leave with practical frameworks they can carry into situations that matter.**
**You will gain a clearer understanding of The Art of War and how its principles apply to modern leadership, negotiation, competition, and decision-making.**
**You will leave with a framework for deciding which battles are worth fighting and which are best avoided.**
**You will develop better judgment around timing, positioning, and strategic decision-making under pressure.**
**You will also leave with a set of mental models that can be applied to business, politics, leadership, and personal negotiations.**
**Tech Takeaway**
**AI will be used as a strategic extension of the session.**
**Participants will learn how to create a personal strategic advisory board using AI, giving them a practical way to pressure-test ideas, decisions, risks, and scenarios long after the room ends.**

Stop Guessing: How to Measure and Improve LLM Outputs
Most people use LLMs by feel: ask a question, read the answer, decide whether it “seems good,” and move on.
That works for casual use. It does not work when you are building software, automating workflows, writing important documents, or relying on AI for anything that needs to be repeatable.
In this talk, we’ll look at how to improve and evaluate the inputs and outputs of LLMs using practical measurement techniques. We’ll cover how prompt changes affect results, how to compare outputs, how to build simple evaluation sets, and how math-based methods like similarity scoring can help you move beyond guesswork.
This will be beginner-friendly, so even if you don't know anything about AI, you should get something out of it. However, this will be a little more technical than our intro talks. You do not need to be an AI researcher, but programmers and technically curious attendees will get a lot out of it.
We’ll cover:
* Why “it looks good” is not enough
* How to improve prompts by changing the input, context, and constraints
* How to compare LLM outputs more systematically
* Basic evaluation techniques for accuracy, consistency, and usefulness
* How embeddings, cosine similarity, and scoring can help evaluate results
* Where automated evaluation works — and where humans still need to stay in the loop
By the end, you’ll have a practical mental model for treating LLMs less like magic and more like systems you can test, measure, and improve.
LOGISTICS AND PARKING:
The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks!
The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.
Picnic with a Purpose: Real Estate Networking That Actually Pays Off

(Cross-Posting) From Joints to Gestures: Reading Hands in Unity
Do **NOT** sign up to this one and sign-up at https://www.meetup.com/columbusjs/events/313386504/
=======================================
A hand tracker gives you joints, not a gesture.
This talk shows how you get from raw joints to a "thumbs-up" in Unity: the pipeline that cleans up the data, how a gesture becomes a few 0-to-1 values within tolerance, and why orientation matters as much as finger shape.
Includes a live demo of tuning gesture thresholds.
Food and drinks will be available.
