PhiloTalks with Omar Al Duri āRESET: 5 Dominos That Will Change Your Lifeā
Why do some changes create a ripple effect across every area of life while others never seem to last?
What does it really mean to RESET?
And how can a few intentional shifts transform the way we think, perform, connect, and live?
For this month's PhiloTalk, we are delighted to welcome Omar Al Duri for a special evening exploring the ideas behind his Amazon best selling book, RESET: 5 Dominos That Will Change Your Life.
Drawing on the principles of the book, Omar will share how the five dominoes can influence mindset, habits, resilience, performance, wellbeing, leadership, and personal growth, and why lasting transformation often begins with small, consistent changes.
Through an engaging conversation moderated by Dr. Joelle Samaha, we will unpack the key concepts of RESET, discuss their practical application in everyday life, and explore how these principles can help us create meaningful and sustainable change.
š¬ The evening will be followed by an open Q&A with Omar, giving attendees the opportunity to ask questions, gain insights, and engage directly with the ideas behind the book.
Whether you have already read RESET or are simply curious about the philosophy behind it, we would love to welcome you for an evening of conversation, learning, and inspiration with one of the UAE's leading voices in performance, mindset, and personal development.

Billionaire Toastmaster Meeting
Recent research from World Economic Forum highlights that employers value communication, leadership and EQ along with Technical Skills , now you know why Toastmaster is relevant for you.
Soft skills arenāt just ānice extrasāātheyāre what help you actually succeed in todayās fast-moving, hybrid, and sometimes messy workplace.
Think about it:
* Can you explain a complicated idea in a way that actually makes sense to someone outside your field?
* Can you listen and work well with others, even when things feel stressful?
* Can you manage your time, emotions, and energy when everything seems due at once?
These skills donāt just help you get byāthey help you grow and stand out. While you can pick up a new tool or software pretty quickly, things like emotional awareness, communication, and resolving conflict take real practice over time.
Thatās why good employers look beyond resumes filled with technical terms. They want people who can adapt, connect, and leadāno matter their role or level of experience

ZERO to HERO
Excellent Opportunity to learn Technical Tricks with Coach Talat.
Class Charges AED 60/ person.
1. Make sure your grip is correct! You want to have a neutral grip that allows you to hit both the forehand and backhand from the same grip. There should be a V shape that runs between your thumb and forefinger. Your forefinger should extend up the shaft of the racket giving you extra control of the racket head.
2. Lift your racket up on the way to the ball. As soon as you know which side the ball is going, take your racket head back so that by the time you arrive you are ready and in position to hit the ball. You will be amazed by how much time you have and the options you can create.
3. Keep your shoulders facing the side wall at the point of impact on both the forehand and backhand side. If you over rotate and end up facing the front wall youāll most likely drag the ball into the middle of the court.
4. Link your movement to your shot. You want to step and hit so that your swing starts just as your foot plants in the lunge position. This helps create a balanced, stable position where a transfer of weight takes place through the shot.
5. Give yourself the best possible chance and donāt let the first game slip by as a result of not warming up properly. Hit the ground running and get yourself match ready for the word go. Download our extensive guide to warming up and see your performance improve dramatically!
6. Make sure your serve hits the side wall. If youāre able to hit a high serve that hits the side wall before dropping into the back corner, you will cause your opponent lots of problems. The backhand volley is one of the most difficult shots in the game and serve gives you a real chance to put your opponent under lots of pressure from the first shot of the rally.
7. Try to play from in front of your opponent! If you can hit the ball into the back corners and take charge of the T zone youāll find the game much easier than if you are always behind. Think about using height to get the ball into the back corners and then push forward towards the T zone so that youāre ready for the next shot.
8. Volley more! Volleying takes time away from your opponent and allows you to stay closer to the T. Learn to volley and try to take the opportunities whenever you can.
9. Hit the open space! If you can hit the ball where your opponent isnāt then youāre going to make them run! Avoid hitting the ball back to your opponent but also be aware that a poor shot into open court can leave you exposed.
10. Learn to hit a good straight drive! If you can hit the ball straight into the back corners from all areas of the court then you will limit your opponentās chances to volley and give yourself the chance to get in front and apply pressure.
11. Learn how to return serve properly. Start with an open stance facing the front wall and watch your opponent whilst standing approximately 1 racket length away from the corner of the service box. This starting position allows you to watch where the ball is going and then transfer weight into the shot.
12. Play with the right ball for your level! There are different balls that bounce to varying degrees. The pro ball should only be played with when you can hit it hard enough to warm it up and make it bounce properly.

Practical Philosophy Meetup - Dubai š¦šŖ
**šļø WHAT'S PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY ABOUT?**
**Practical Philosophy is a weekly meet-up that brings critical thinkers together for an opportunity to dive deep on a topic, practice communicating, and building a community. All with no āofficialā philosophy knowledge required! š**
**Practical Philosophy is based on the idea that philosophy should be accessible to all, and not something reserved only for academics. Each week we choose a topic, and the goal is to use the conversation to develop our critical thinking and communication as we explore that topic.**
**The goal is to help develop our Critical Thinking, Communication, and Community š**
**š HOW DOES IT WORK?**
**Each week, we pick one topic and discuss it. The topic for the week is shared, generally in the** [Whatsapp group](https://chat.whatsapp.com/CdjwVxcf2EO6vcLWUhaIdk?mode=ems_copy_c)**, along with jump-off points to get the conversation going.**
**General Meeting Agenda**
**Each Practical Philosophy meet-up follows this general timeline:**
* **3:30-3:45- People arrive and chat, get to know each other before the official start.**
* **3:45-3:55 - Meeting introduction, explanation of Practical Philosophy and the topic for the week, read the guidelines and the overview so attendees know what to expect in terms of timelines.**
* **3:55-5:20 - Participants share their general thoughts on the topic, open discussion afterwards. At this point the group can review the ājump-offā questions as needed, but they are just there to help guide the conversation. Itās not obligatory to answer them.**
* **5:20-5:30 - Bring everyone back together to discuss conclusions, organizer then concludes the meeting and everyone takes a group photo.**
* **5:30 - The official meeting is over but itās a great opportunity to get to know people in a non-structured environment, so we often stick around, chat, and get to know each other.**
**š§§PRICING?**
**Practical Philosophy Club is FREE to attend! We just request that that you buy a beverage or food item as our venue requires it to give us a private room.**
**š WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY**
**š£** **āI feel like Philosophy Club helps someone build their own belief system through a series of perspectives while not promoting whatās right and wrongā - Ekam**
**š£ āI got hooked from day 1 (the topic was authority) and felt it was the right place for me. I feel it is a place where people can go to learn and discuss new perspectives and increase critical thinking and community by interacting with people who might challenge your point of views but at the same time encourage you to have openness and mind flexibility.ā - Daniel**
**š¤ FAQ**
* **What will we talk about? What's the topic?**
**The topic for the week is shared every Sunday in the Whatsapp group. We try to add the topic to the comment section on this event page as well but if you donāt see it, the topic and the jump-off points will be in our** [Whatsapp](https://chat.whatsapp.com/CdjwVxcf2EO6vcLWUhaIdk?mode=ems_copy_c)**.**
* **Do I need to study or read anything to attend?**
**No preparation is necessary. This isnāt a study of other thinkers. We want to know what YOU think about the topic, not what an old philosopher thought. If you have a perspective from a religion or a school of thought to share, throw it on the table and weāll discuss it, but it's not required.**
* **Is there a specific philosophy that Practical Philosophy is focused on?**
**The goal of our meet-ups is to not have dogmatic discussions, and flex our critical thinking muscles. Because of this, we want to hear from every realm of thought, and don't study a particular school.**
* **Is it mostly men that attend?**
**Surprisingly, no! Although philosophy is seen as a Candelabra affair in a dark room with a bunch of guys, our Practical Philosophy meetups are generally 50/50 between genders, and we donāt meet in any dark rooms.**
* **Can I come alone?**
**Of course you can, we encourage it :)**
* **Can I be late?**
**Please don't be! We do have a 15 minute grace period where we allow people to funnel in while we hang out, but after that if you arrive too late, it disrupts the flow of the conversation.**

**Abstract**
*Customize the IDE: Building Extensions for Visual Studio Code*
Visual Studio Code is one of the most widely used development environments today, and much of its flexibility comes from its extension ecosystem. Extensions allow developers to customize the editor with new features, integrations, and workflow improvements tailored to their needs.
In this session, weāll cover what extensions are and the different types available, including full extensions written in TypeScript or JavaScript, along with lighter-weight extensions such as color themes, language packs, language support, code snippets, and keymaps. Weāll also look at practical reasons a developer might create an extension, from automating repetitive tasks to adding custom tooling.
The session includes a hands-on walkthrough of creating a new extension, testing it locally, and understanding the basic project structure. Weāll close with a brief overview of how extensions are packaged and published to the Visual Studio Marketplace and other distribution options.
