**Koog your own AI! Delicious recipes**
Koog is an open-source Kotlin framework for building robust, and production-ready AI agents. Developed, and battle-tested in their own products by JetBrains!
In this session we’ll build an agent, and explore various techniques to tackle different kinds of problems, and complexity. How we can use model-context protocol (MCP) to give our agent access to external tools, and how to build custom tools to integrate with your own systems. How to define flexible graph workflows to design complex agent behaviors.
If you're not cooking your own AI Agents yet, you should! Join me and I’ll give you a taste of Koog.
**About** **Simon Vergauwen**
**Developer Advocate at JetBrains & OSS (arrow-kt) Maintainer**
**Software engineer from Antwerp, Belgium.**
Interested in everything functional, and Kotlin. Loves OSS, cooking, snowboarding and Fallou
**Domain-Driven Design**
What name should I give this entity? How should I deal with ambiguous terminology? Where should business rules be implemented? Is this validation part of the domain logic, or does it belong to the application layer? Which entities should be within the scope of this database transaction?
In this talk we explore how the **Domain-Driven Design (DDD)** methodology helps answer questions like these. We will cover the key DDD concepts, including **Ubiquitous Language**, **Bounded Context**, **Aggregates**, **Entities**, and **Value Objects**, and discuss how they fit within a software architecture.
The session is built around a practical example, so you will not only learn the theory behind DDD, but also see how these concepts can be applied in real-world software development.
**About Dirk Groot**
I'm a software engineer with more than 25 years of experience. Since my early teens, sofware engineering has been my greatest passion.

* **20.45: 21.30**: 🥤 Drinks & Networking
## **Talk 1: Can AI agents help solve Europe’s Largest Cold Case?**
**by Titus Naber**
The Olof Palme investigation lasted 34 years and resulted in one of the largest police archives in modern European history. Even reading the digitized portion alone would take a single person years.
So what happens when you give that archive to AI agents?
In this talk, Titus will walk us through the design and deployment of a Deep Research agent system capable of autonomous hypothesis generation, iterative search, and cross-referencing across thousands of police documents. The session will dive into how AI agents can be orchestrated to explore massive, unstructured datasets and support complex investigative workflows.
**Bio**
Titus Naber is a Machine Learning Engineer at **ML6**, based in Amsterdam. He holds an MSc in Artificial Intelligence from Delft University of Technology and has experience across machine learning, full-stack development, and autonomous systems. Previously, he worked at Adyen on open-source payment integrations and was involved in autonomous racing through the Formula Student team. Titus combines strong academic foundations with hands-on industry experience to build practical, high-impact ML systems.
## **Talk 2: From Keywords to Concepts: A Late Interaction Approach to Semantic Product Search on IKEA.com**
**by Amritpal Singh**
Traditional keyword-based search struggles to capture the rich, multi-attribute intent behind customer queries. In this talk, Amritpal will present IKEA’s journey from keyword matching to concept-based semantic search using a late-interaction retrieval model.
Instead of relying on Boolean logic or single-vector embeddings, this approach uses token-level scoring to preserve keyword specificity while capturing fine-grained intent. The system is trained using large-scale synthetic query generation, strong negative mining, and adaptive ranking — all while maintaining low latency at production scale.
Deployed live on **[IKEA](https://ikea.com/)**[.com](https://ikea.com/) across multiple markets and languages, the new system outperformed the existing Boolean search, delivering meaningful gains in relevance, engagement, and commercial impact, especially for long-tail queries.
**Bio**
Amritpal Singh is a Senior Data Scientist at IKEA Amsterdam with over 10 years of experience in machine learning, computer vision, and NLP. Previously, he was a Staff Data Scientist at Huawei and a Senior Research Engineer at HERE Technologies. He holds an MSc in Embedded Systems from TU Delft and a BTech in Electrical Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology.
We look forward to welcoming you for an evening of cutting-edge ML, practical insights, and great conversations - see you there!
Maximizing performance: Client state, garbage collection and grid intelligence.
Lets meet up at Conclusion Lowcode Company!
**Client State & Garbage Collection**
Curious how the Mendix Client really works under the hood? Join our meetup and uncover the secrets behind Client State & Garbage Collection and how they impact memory, performance and scalability of your applications.
* **How Client State works:** Understand how objects are stored in the browser, how state grows, and why it matters for app performance.
* **Garbage Collection in Mendix:** Discover how unused objects are cleaned up, what stays in memory, and what can cause unexpected memory bloat.
* **Performance pitfalls & best practices:** Learn how to avoid hidden state issues, optimize your microflows, and keep your app fast and efficient.
**Grid Inteligence**
We all know about grid congestion and challenges society faces as a result of it. Smart technologies such as demand-side management are key to combat grid congestion. The National Energy Dashboard (NED) which is an joint initiative from Gasunie en TenneT provides free data on energy consumption, production, transport and storage.
I present the Footprint Reductor as a lightweight plug-and-play Mendix module to bridge the gap between the data from the NED and Mendix applications.

**Session description:**
**Jasper Oosterveld - With Great Power Comes Great Labeling: Sensitivity Labels in de Praktijk**
Give your still good laptop a second life instead of ditching it because Windows 11 says it is no good... Or you heard Linux is cool.
If you have a backup of your data, that is great, else indicate that you do not, so we can help you. Do so in an extra message or to m10@m10tech.nl, else I don't receive your information.

🏔️ Summit Hike – Everest Edition (8,848 m)
🏔️ Everest Update for the Veluwe Power Hikers
We were preparing for a classic VPH high altitude expedition on top of the world. Unfortunately there is some disappointing news. Starting in 2026, Nepal is introducing strict new regulations for climbing Mount Everest. Climbers will now need to have previously summited a 7,000 meter peak in Nepal and must also submit mandatory health certificates.
Because we cannot realistically summit a 7,000 meter peak and then climb Everest on the same day during our hike, I am unfortunately obliged to change the program.
There is also another small complication. 1 April falls on a Wednesday, which makes organizing the expedition a bit difficult.
After a poll in the WhatsApp group, we decided to move the date to **28 March** and climb the highest point of the Veluwe, **Signaal Imbosch (110 m)**. Even if it’s not Everest, don’t underestimate this hike: we will cover **22 km with about 350 metres of elevation gain** at a brisk pace. At this altitude, however, oxygen bottles are no longer recommended.
Please update your RSVP if you can no longer attend due to the change. ⛰️🥾
**When and Where to Meet?**
10:10 sharp at Rheden Trainstation. ⏰ Please arrive on time, as we won’t be able to wait for latecomers. 🥾✨
https://maps.app.goo.gl/VaEtswyBps5awMoL7
**Where and When Shall We Rest?**
We’ll take 2 breaks:
* Lunch break in nature at Signaal Imbosch (110 m) with group photo on summit; 20 min
* Snack and drink at Basecamp (80 m) where you can buy drinks and snacks; 30 min
**Notifications:**
* Technical equipment: avalanche transceiver (beacon), avalanche probe, and avalanche shovel (if you have them)
* A compact lunch and water to share at the summit
* The hike will only be canceled in case of severe avalanche risk (code 5).
* If you plan to bring a companion, please ensure that they are also registered for the hike.
* To be the first to get updates on new hikes, join our WhatsApp group! Feel free to ask for the QR code during the hike to easily join.
* T-shirts are now available for €25, made from Fairwear-certified organic cotton with eco-friendly inks—sustainable, odor-resistant, and perfect for your hiking adventures (limited stock, available during the hike)! Let me know your size and I will bring one for you!
Walk & Talk in Arnhem Sonsbeekpark
Welcome to the event page of the Walk & Talk in Arnhem Sonsbeekpark, taking place on Sunday March 29th, 2026. This event is a informal walk where we will connect again and perhaps meet some new people. It will be the first day of Daylight Saving Time and, fortuitously, *Zeldzaam Mooi Markt* is taking place in Sonsbeek. We plan to make a stopover here. Our event is free and open for everyone to join, including Dutch and internationals.
**Practical information**
\- The meetup of this walk is at **13:00 at Arnhem station, near Burger King**. We’ll start walking after 10 minutes.
\- A walk like this is at a casual pace and usually takes about 2 hours\, including breaks\. We are focusing on an area\, not a specific route\. This gives us some room for suggestions of participants like when to have a few minute break\.
\- We will take a coffee break at a café in between or afterwards if there's enough interest\.
\- B\-YOU: Bring your own umbrella\, in case of rain\. If the weather is really unacceptable we will go to a café instead\, or cancel the entire event\.
\- You can leave at any time you like\.
**Sign up via Meetup OR E-mail**
Please sign up for this event by RSVP on Meetup OR send an e-mail to **[urbanarnhem@gmail.com](urbanarnhem@gmail.com)** . Joining the event is free, but donations will be very appreciated. We are making costs to keep this group active on Meetup, so any (small) donation will go directly to keeping our page online. We hope to see you on this walk!

* Een kleine groep van max. 8 vaders
* Een mooie route op de Veluwe
* Goede gesprekken en oefeningen onderweg
* Ruimte voor jouw verhaal
* Koffie/thee en een snack na afloop
Kortom: een wandeling waarmee je investeert in jezelf en je vaderschap.
duur: 10:00-12:00 uur / investering is wat jij het waard vindt
locatie: rondom Arnhem op de Veluwe
🏛️ Pastime #2 – The Romans in the Netherlands: Nijmegen (Noviomagus)
📍 Meeting point: **Nijmegen Lent Station** (⚠️ not Nijmegen Centraal!)
🗓 **Saturday, March 28th, 2026**
🕑 **14:00**
After starting our journey through Dutch history with **Prehistory**, it’s time to move forward to the **Roman era**.
And when we talk about Romans in the Netherlands, there is one unavoidable place to go: **Nijmegen**, the oldest city in the country, founded by the Romans as **Noviomagus**.
We’ll start from the other side of the river Waal and walk towards the historic city centre, combining **river landscapes, green parks and urban history**. Along the way we’ll explore how the Romans conquered large parts of what is now the Netherlands, built forts and military camps along the Rhine (the *limes*), and established their first real city here. This walk is about **stories, traces and layers of history**—and about seeing Nijmegen through Roman eyes.
🥾 **The walk is about 5 km** and will take us through nature, parks and the city while discovering the Roman past of Nijmegen and the Netherlands.
***
🍺 **Post-walk drinks at Cafe De Zon**
After the walk we’ll stop at **Cafe De Zon** to relax and have a drink together. It’s a perfect moment to chat, share impressions from the walk and wind down.
If you like beer, you’ll also have the chance to try **Oersoep**, a local craft brewery from Nijmegen known for its creative and experimental beers. Of course, other drinks are available as well.
***
A walk through **Roman history**, beautiful riverside views, and a relaxed drink afterwards — a perfect **Pastime afternoon**.

CBusData: The Fellowship of the Star Schema: Transforming OLTP Data for Power BI
The Fellowship of the Star Schema: Transforming OLTP Data for Power BI
One does not simply build reports on OLTP data. Join us on an epic journey from the depths of raw, normalized tables to the shining halls of a well-modeled star schema fit for Power BI greatness. We will demystify the differences between OLTP and OLAP, walk through star schema vs snowflake (and why Power BI has a clear favorite), and show you the compression differences between normalized and columnar storage that will make you never look at an OLTP model the same way again.
We will cover the different types of dimensions, when to use them, and how to handle Slowly Changing Dimensions without losing your mind. You will leave knowing exactly how to identify a bad model, how to convert OLTP data into a clean star schema, and how to forge relationships that rule them all.
Whether you are a data wizard, a curious hobbit, or somewhere in between, your models will never be the same.
Data & Analytics Wednesday - The Data-Driven Brand
**The Data-Driven Brand: Using Analytics to Shape Perception**
Can you use analytics to improve tacos? This being CBUSDAW, we think the answer is probably “yes”, but we’re not sure how to implement or test this theory.
For our April meetup we’ve got Sara Kear, CMO of Condado Tacos, to investigate this delicious question. Sara will explore how she blends quantitative data and qualitative customer feedback to shape brand positioning and drive business decisions. We all know that marketing and analytics go way beyond attribution. Sara will show how Condado uses customer insights to inform product and pricing strategy.
She’ll also highlight how Condado leverages customer feedback at scale to influence operational priorities, positioning marketing as the voice of the customer across the organization. In the last 12 years Condado has gone from one location in Columbus to 52 locations across 10 states, so we’re guessing there’s more to that growth than really good guac (though the guac probably helps).
Ultimately, this talk focuses on the intersection of art and science—using data to inform creativity and build a brand that resonates with customers in a measurable way.
**About Our Speaker**
Sara Kear is Chief Marketing Officer at Condado Tacos, where she oversees brand, restaurant design, menu and pricing strategy, off-premise including catering, and customer data strategy. Since joining in 2021, she has helped grow the brand from 19 to 52 locations while building a data-driven marketing organization focused on loyalty and customer insights. Condado has since been named to the Inc. 5000, recognized as Breakout Retailer by Chain Store Age, and consistently ranked among FastCasual’s Top 100 Movers & Shakers.

**Abstract**
Web Forms gave .NET developers a powerful abstraction for building reusable UI controls long before design systems were a thing. Web Components finally bring that same idea to the browser natively.
This session explores how the Web Forms mindset translates into Custom Elements, Shadow DOM, and HTML templates. We’ll examine how Web Components enable design systems that work across frameworks, how they differ from server‑driven controls, and why they’re becoming a foundational layer for modern UI. Whether you’re maintaining legacy apps or building greenfield projects, you’ll leave with a practical understanding of how to apply familiar patterns in a modern, standards‑based way.
