Dancing, Brunch and Conversation - "Daybreaker" at Abbotsford Convent
Dancing, Brunch and Conversation - "Daybreaker" at Abbotsford Convent
### Meet time **7:30am sharp – Meet outside Abbotsford Convent** We’ll have around **15 minutes together *outside* (in front of BIKE SHED) before the event**, which is perfect for a **quick round of friendly introductions** and settling in as a group before heading into "Daybreaker". ### Daybreaker **8:00am – 10:00am** We’ll attend "**Daybreaker"** together – an alcohol-free morning dance experience designed to energise your body and mind and start the day feeling alive and present. "Daybreaker" tickets are booked separately and can be purchased here: [https://www.daybreaker.com/event/melbourne-02-07/](https://www.daybreaker.com/event/melbourne-02-07/) No dance experience needed. Come as you are. ### Brunch + deeper conversation After "Daybreaker" (10am), we’ll meet outside the BIKE SHED again, then head out for **brunch together** (optional but encouraged). Depending on the group and availability, we may: * Walk straight into the **Collingwood Children’s Farm Café**, or * Take a longer walk to a nearby venue such as **Three Bags Full**, **Cam’s Kiosk**, or **Jinda Thai** We’ll decide together on the day. This is where there’s space to slow down and deepen conversations. After moving together, it’s often easier to connect and talk about: * Your experience of Daybreaker * Dance, music, art, or creativity * Food, wellbeing, and living healthy * Life in Melbourne and upcoming events As with other **Good Conversations Club** events, you’re welcome to arrive exactly as you are. There’s **no pressure to perform or talk constantly**. I’ll have **conversation prompts available** that you’re welcome to use if you’d like — or not at all. They’re simply there to support ease, connection, and better conversations if you want them. Brunch is where conversations naturally deepen and flow more easily. ### Who this event is for This event tends to attract people who are **young at heart**, open-minded, and curious about life. There’s no strict age range — you’ll likely meet people across different ages who: * Enjoy movement, music, and shared experiences * Value meaningful conversation over small talk * Are open, respectful, and socially aware If you’re comfortable in mixed-age groups and enjoy connecting beyond labels, you’ll likely feel at home. ### Important notes * We’ll keep pre-event conversation light due to time * Deeper conversations happen after Daybreaker over brunch * "Daybreaker" tickets are purchased individually * Brunch is pay-your-own This event is about sharing an experience first, then enjoying meaningful, nourishing conversation afterwards. **Movement first. Conversation after. Connection naturally.** NOTE: For "Daybreaker" ### **Come ready to dance.** ### **Wear something that lets you move freely.** ### **Bring a water bottle and an open heart.** ### **Leave the rest at the door.** ### **We’ll see you on the dance floor.** ### **Door open at 7:40am** ——- Keep in touch via the WhatsApp group for this event: https://chat.whatsapp.com/ByoTlhgWUyu6VJole2fCO6?mode=gi_t

Explore Melbourne is the largest meetup group in Australia with more than 43,000 members. We know these group rules won’t suit everybody, and that’s okay—there are many other groups where you might feel more at home. To keep things safe, fun, and positive, we have 8 simple rules for people attending our events. Over the past 9 years, we’ve removed 342 people (around 0.8%) for breaking them—so please read carefully! ❌ Not a dating group – We’re here to make friends and share experiences, not find soulmates. 📵 No phone numbers – You’re welcome to swap social media if you both agree, but please don’t share or ask for phone numbers. Please don’t add people to WhatsApp or other groups. 🔞 Our events are only open to people aged 18 and older. 📢 No advertising – Please don’t promote other events, groups, or businesses here. 😅 Don’t be clingy – Give people space to mingle and chat with others too. 🚗 No carpooling – For safety reasons and insurance coverage, we don’t allow carpooling or ride-sharing through the group. 💰 No sales pitches – That means no selling, MLMs, pyramid schemes, or “life-changing mentorships.” Keep it scam-free. By joining an event, you agree to follow these rules. Breaking them means removal from all our groups—no exceptions. Thank you! **Liability Waiver:** The organizer of this group cannot accept any liability for any loss, damage, injury, or accident to participants or their property at this event. By participating in this event, you're taking responsibility for your safety and well-being. Conversations with the School of Life cards
Conversations with the School of Life cards
After some great discussions using these cards, we just had to continue! "It isn't easy to get into a good conversation. Many of our best ones seem to have happened by chance. Far from it - we believe a great conversation always starts with someone asking a great question.” The School of Life cards contain questions designed to get a group of people into entertaining and meaningful conversations. This is a casual, social and fun event where we share our thoughts and experiences with a group. We can cover topics like: Personality & Emotions, Work & Money, Family & Friendship, Travel, Culture & Taste, depending on the questions that end up being asked on the day. Please arrive hungry/thirsty for us to keep up a good relationship with the venue that allows us to host our events. \*\*\* Meaningful Discussions events take place in 11 countries and this will be our 147th event in Melbourne! :) Please be try to arrive on time if you can. This event will allow a thoughtful, respectful and engaging discussion. So if you're looking for open-minded, friendly and intelligent people, you've come to the right place!

Dale Gnidovec, Curator of the Orton Hall Museum of Geology at The Ohio State University, will be presenting a program he has wanted to share with us for a long time: Plate Tectonics. His description of his program: Continents on the move - Nothing in Earth history makes sense without moving continents - it tells us why mountains, volcanoes, minerals, and fossils are where they are. This talk examines the evidence for continental drift, why it was disbelieved, and explains how the more-encompassing theory of plate tectonics was developed and eventually proven. Dale is an energetic, incredibly knowledgeable, and very entertaining speaker and this will be another wonderful program by Dale. Hope to see you there! Food and drinks will be provided at the event.
