Evening Walk at Park am Gleisdreieck – After Work Pilgrims
**After Work Pilgrims: Walk with intention.**
Berlin is demanding, and the day was long. And somewhere between finishing work and the night, there's a moment where we just need to breathe.
That's what After Work Pilgrims is for.
We walk together through the city – through parks in the middle of all the concrete – with intention. Just a few kilometres on foot: with silence, a short reflection, and good company.
It's more than a walk. But it doesn't feel like it.
Duration: approx\. 2 hours \| Distance: 4–7 km \| Free
No experience needed. Comfortable shoes recommended. Come as you are.

Ultimate Frisbee in the Park - sunset sparkle
Hi everyone. We'll meet and play a relaxed game of ultimate in Volkspark Rehberge if the weather cooperates.
Our games focus on having great team play, where the teams work together to advance the disk down the field. It's more important to work well together as a team than have a few star players get a point with lucky shots. For this reason, players of all skill levels (especially those who have never played) are welcome to join
Bring plenty of water, shoes you can run in and comfortable clothing that can get a bit dirty.
Although we're an established group, newcomers are always welcome.
After the game we try to spend some time together and have fun.
Finding us: We meet in this big grassy area, it's a short bike ride from the subway stop Rehberge on the U6 or Amrumer Strasse on the U9. It can be a bit tricky to find the first time, so we've got a few methods to help out (don't trust the meetup map pin, it often shows some point in the park, not the exact spot where we are)
1. GPS: 52°32'54.9"N 13°19'51.0"E ; 52.548581, 13.330842

Evening hike, swim and sunset watching at Wannsee
Let's enjoy the warm weather and treat ourselves with a walk in the nature! We will have a 10 km walk in one of my favorite area in Berlin - Wannsee. We will walk along Düppler forest and then along the Wannsee, enjoying views of the biggest beach in Berlin, Pfaueninsel Island and the famous lion monument. Towards the end of the hike, we’ll make a stop to enjoy the sunset (you can also go for a swim in the lake if you like).
**Organisation fee is 1 euro** (on site, in cash)
We will meet at S-Bahnhof Wannsee (when you arrive, take exit to Kronprinzessinnenweg, I will wait for you outside).
Urban hike: Glienicke castle and Babelsberg castle
Hi everyone!
This time, in addition to lakes and forests, we'll explore some of the area's most beautiful architecture and cultural landmarks: Glienicke Palace, Babelsberg Palace, and the famous Glienicke Bridge, where spies were exchanged during the Cold War.
We'll start at Glienicke Palace and take some time to admire the grounds before crossing the bridge into Potsdam. From there, we'll continue through the Neuer Garten along Heiliger See, then make our way through parts of Potsdam to reach the Staudengarten on Freundschaftsinsel (Friendship Island – a fitting destination for a hiking group!). After crossing the Havel once again, we'll follow the riverside towards Babelsberg Palace.
From Babelsberg, we'll head to Klein Glienicke, an intriguing historical site with a unique Cold War history, before returning to Glienicke Palace. From there, we'll take a bus back towards Potsdam or Wannsee and make our way back to Berlin.
The hike is approximately 12 km long and should take around 3 hours, depending on how much time we spend exploring the palaces and their surroundings.
We will meet at 10:10 AM on the S1/S2 platform (lower level) at Friedrichstraße station and take the next S1 train towards Wannsee. From Wannsee, we'll continue by bus to Glienicke Palace.
Please bring enough water, snacks, and anything else you might need for a comfortable walk. We'll likely have opportunities to sit in a park and enjoy the views of the Havel, the palaces, and the surrounding landscape.
I'll be wearing a pink cap, so keep an eye out for a tall person in a pink cap!
See you on the trail!

**WHY GO?**
Everything around Berlin seems as flat as a pancake. With one exception: The glacial hill landscape along the Oder riverscape. On our hike along “Gipfelstürmer” we explore this enchanting region in a unique way.
**WHAT ARE SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS?**
The trail won the award for “East-Germany’s Best Hiking Trail” in 2021 – for good reasons: With 17.5 km of ups and downs this summit tour is a great challenge and offers numerous highlights along the way:
* **Watzmann & Gloomy Gorge:** This tiny mountain that takes its name from its big brother in the alps offers a large summit cross and a good place for a seated break. Afterwards, we will climb down the scenic “Düstere Klamm” gorge.
* **Observation towers:** Four historic observation towers, each with a unique architecture, line our way. They can be climbed and offer spectacular views across the Oder valley all the way to Poland.
* **Teufelssee:** The dark forest lake has a magical atmosphere and is the perfect place for a picnic. To relax from climbing, jump in the lake or take a cold foot bath in the nearby stream. From the lake, a delightful loop leads to the edge of the forest and back through lofty heights.
* **Thuringia View:** This hill offers a fantastic view into the open landscape, including the two ship lifts that you can see on the horizon. With its seating and the pavilion, the square offers a nice place to picnic and relax.

Hike from Lübben (Spreewald) to Schlepzig
Join us for our second hike of the summer!
We will start by meeting at (or at least boarding) the **10.40 RE2 (3112)** at **Ostkreuz** station, **Platform 1**. We will arrive at Lübben (Spreewald) at 11.25. *Note that if you miss this train, then the next one does not arrive until 11.56, so you will certainly miss us and won't be able to catch up!*
The hike will go from Lübben to Schlepzig, along the canals and lakes of the beautiful Spreewald region. *(See photos for a rough route -- this is not necessarily accurate!)*
The walk will be about 15 km and take about 4-5 hours.
Bring lunch, snacks & water, comfortable walking shoes, and maybe even some sunglasses. We will stop a couple of places along the way, but will not stop long enough to order food, so bring your lunch!
At the end of the walk, in Schlepzig, there is a Whisky brewery and a Biergarten. We will visit one or both. You can also get food at both.
Then, we will take the 18:57 bus back to the starting point of Lübben Bahnhof. From there, we will catch the 19.34 RE2 (3129) back to Ostkreuz, arriving at 20.18.
*(If you really want to, and if we get to Schlepzig in time, then you can also take the 16.52 bus to Lübben, then the 17.34 RE2 back to Berlin.)*
**Note: We will reschedule this if the weather is too rainy. So definitely check back here before going!**

**SPECIAL OFFER FOR NEW USERS**
* 10% New User Discount using promo code: **MEETUP10**
* Valid for this trip or any other trips available on our website.
**WHY GO?**
Fire, water, air and earth. Almost no other region in Germany is dominated by the elements as much as the Eifel uplands. The landscape reflects the geological development of millions of years in fast motion: valleys crossed by rivers, the cones of extinct volcanoes, dry maars which have become moorland, bizarre rock formations and layers of different hill ranges.
The Eifel region was settled by Celts, Romans and Franconians amd the the products of their cultures are still there to be admired: romantic towns such as **Monschau also know as the "Pearl of the Eifel"**, with half-timbered houses dating from the Middle Ages, the fascinating remains of Roman structures and imposing castles such as “Burg Eltz”. The town is also surrounded by beautiful countryside and is a great base for hiking and outdoor activities.
**WHAT ARE SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS?**
* **Exploring Monschau "Pearl of the Eifel":** Charming and picturesque village with preserved half-timber houses in the Eifel mountains on the Rur River Valley. Monschau exudes with history, architecture & romance.
* **Hiking in the Eifel Region:** This region was shaped by volcanic activity and although the last volcano erupted about 10,000 years ago, evidence of the Eifel’s turbulent past can be seen in the crater lakes, called maars, that pepper the Vulkaneifel landscape. The region also boasts some of the loveliest fairy tale towns and medieval castles in the country.
* **Short Guided tour of Aachen:** Aachen is known for its history and culture, as well as its thermal springs and spa. The city was the preferred residence of Charlemagne, and was the place where **31 Holy Roman Emperors** were crowned Kings of the Germans. It's also famous for **Aachen Cathedral**, a **UNESCO World Heritage Site**, which was built in the 8th century and is considered one of the most important examples of Carolingian architecture.
* **Aachen Cathedral:** Aachen Cathedral was the very first site to be granted **UNESCO World Heritage** status in Germany, and with good reason: built in around 790 to 800, the cathedral is of world importance in terms of the history of art and architecture, and is one of the great examples of church architecture. The final resting place of Charlemagne, it was also where German emperors were crowned for 600 years.
* **Aachen Thermal Baths (Optional):** In Aachen, water and wellness have a long tradition. While in former times, the Romans relaxed in the therapeutic waters of the Aachen mineral springs, today, the Carolus Thermen thermal pools offer the perfect escape from everyday life. Perfect way to finish the day.
