Easter Monday Hike: Storkow to Bad Saarow (18.5 km)
The hike starts in Storkow, where we have short glimpse into its castle and cross a draw bridge over the Storkow canal.
Before climbing one of Brandenburg's biggest inland dune, we get a view of Lake Storkow.
After crossing forests and the village of Kolipin with its lake, we arrive at Bad Saarow, a spa town renowned for its hot springs and mineral-rich mud. From there, we take two trains back to Berlin in the late afternoon.
Meet us in the **first car of the train RE7**, departing from
**Ostkreuz station at 11:02** **am on platform 1,**
(transfer in Königs Wusterhausen to RB36)
**arriving at Storkow (Mark) at 11:57 am**
Unless you subscribed to the Deutschlandticket, you'll need to buy a ticket to Storkow (Mark) and from Bad Saarow back to Berlin.
Please note:
* As a grown-up, you are responsible for yourself.
* Come prepared for cold and windy weather.
* Wear appropriate footwear, we may come across some sandy and muddy sections.
* Forecasts predict low chance of rain, but you never know...
* Bring enough water, food and some cash with you.
* Please be fair and only RSVP if you are sure you can make it and update if your plans change.
See you on Easter Monday!

We reach Wandlitz station at 11,44 🚉
https://maps.app.goo.gl/8MpvCpyhE9kps99K7
To go there there is the S2 line direction Buch (it stops in several Berlin stations: check the best for you), and then in Karow the RB27 train.
Get on where you want, but take the connection to reach Wandlitz station at 11,44 🚉
Once we reach Wandlitz, we start our Hike of about 12kms
[https://www.komoot.com/tour/2233809167](https://www.komoot.com/tour/2233809167)
Along the lake 🌊 several beaches or places where to sit down are present.
Bring your own food🍔 and drinks🥤 (we will pause where we deem appropriate).
In Wandlitz some bakeries and coffees 🥐 ☕ are present but, since Monday is public holiday, they will be probably closed (but we will discover it, who knows).
People are anyway free to go instead to Berlin to spend more time together after the Hike.
I do not provide a "personal support" for
people who will not take the indicated connection.
You are responsible to check for the weather and decide if come or not.
Thanks for understanding.
If you have to contact me, make it via Whatsapp, not here on Meetup.

New in Berlin: Easter Monday Connections – Social Butterfly Club 🦋
Easter Monday carries a different kind of energy — somewhere between a long weekend, a fresh start, and the feeling that spring is finally here.
This Social Butterfly Club Meetup brings that energy into a relaxed Monday evening. A space to connect, share conversations, and start the week with a bit more lightness and curiosity. 🌷
There might be a few small Easter surprises hidden around — nothing too serious, just a playful excuse to look around, smile, and maybe start a conversation with someone new. 🐣
Whether you’ve spent the weekend with people, by yourself, or somewhere in between — this is a chance to step back into the city and connect.
✨ Suggested Ice Breaker Question:
“What has been a highlight of your long weekend?”

Nature Journaling For Birdwatchers
For those who love watching birds and wish to capture their observations on paper: Your workshop guide Maximiliána Martišková is a professional llustrator and graphic designer, bird enthusiast and passionate photographer of life. – confidence in creating lively and authentic sketches outdoors
– community of birdwatchers with the same goals

**SPECIAL OFFER FOR NEW USERS**
* 10% New User Discount using promo code: **MEETUP10**
* Valid for this trip or any other trips available on our website.
**WHY GO?**
* Join us, the afternoon of Sunday, the 12th of April the König-Louise-Straße Bus Stop near the Waldbaude Snack Bar (Clayallee 91, 14195 Berlin). We’ll be meeting up with fellow ***Sketchers & Artists*** to practice our ***quick sketching skills while enjoying nature,*** we’ll be walking a short ***2-3 kilometers*** into Grunewald, and along the Grunewaldsee. Nature is slowly waking up from its winter slumber, with moss, ivy and pine being the primary shades of green you’ll see. We’re taking this opportunity to do a series of ***quick sketches focused on shading***. You can draw what you choose, or even bring a camera to do some photography as well. As the trees are mostly still without their leaves, ***we’ll be focusing on details like moss covered logs, small wooden bridges, a sandbar along the lake and reeds growing at the lake shore***. You will also have the opportunity to sketch a scene of the ***Jagdschloos Grunewald***, seen best from across the lake due to ongoing construction.
* If this is your first time sketching or 100th time sketching, you can find subjects that are right for you. ***You don’t need to be a professional at all!*** You should just want to practice your sketching skills while meeting new people, and hopefully sketching a bit better than you did the day before.
* If this is your first time to Grunewaldsee, please be aware many locals have their dogs off leash in the area.
* We will be stopping to do multiple 15 min sketches with the goal of improving our quick sketching skills. ***Quick sketching is a foundational sketching skill*** that seeks to simplify a scene while communicating the necessary details for a viewer to see and feel a scene or detail. This weekend, we’ll be focusing especially on the art of shading, and how it can be used to add a little extra pop to our sketches. These are sketching skills that can be applied across artistic mediums.
* Bring your preferred drawing medium for short ***quick sketches***, and meet up with fellow nature sketchers. There are benches in the area, but you may wish to bring a small chair or cushion to make things more comfortable.
* The drawings are purely for fun, and to get to know other artists and hobbyists in the area!
* (This meet-up does *not* include entry to the Jagdschloos Grunewald)
* Join us at 13:00 at the König-Louise-Straße Bus Stop (115, X10, N10, X83) near the Waldbaude Snack Bar (Clayallee 91, 14195 Berlin) with our host - Elizabeth, we’ll get to know one another and then set out as a group to sketch along the Grunewaldsee, it’s an out-and-back route along a lake with several opportunities for sketching, conversation and relaxing. We will sketch from 13:00-16:00 and then return to our meeting spot.

Hike Gertrude S. Lawrence Hoover Nature Preserve near Galena
This trail is a meandering path through the woods. There will be some overlooks and a couple stops at the creek as well as time along a waterway. It will not be a fast paced hike. There is some elevation change and uneven terrain. I will be using poles just to be safe! Will aim to get in about three miles.
Optional lunch after if there is an interest.
Hike Blacklick Woods and The Canopy. Optional lunch after.
Over time I'm hoping to organize a hike to all the Franklin County Metro Parks. This is the first one so if you're interested jump in!
We'll start with the Canopy Walk, a cool feature of this park. Climb 100 stairs to the top - or take the elevator if stairs aren't your thing. At the top there are a bunch of things to play on - a rope bridge, a fireman pole that we can slide down - and more! About fifteen minutes there and we'll head to the natural trail, Buttonbush, Maple and Beech Trail for 2.2 miles then do a 1.7 mile loop on the paved Greenway Trail. We'll be passing our cars as we transition if you only want to do the first loop, or the second loop. Pace of around 3.5 mph but no one left behind.
If there is an interest we can grab lunch nearby afterward.
Hike Bexley - UPDATED DATE
Meet at Wolfe Park parking lot by tennis courts. We willl walk along Alum Creek trail, through Jeffrey Mansion Park then along Bexley neighborhood and back.
Optional lunch at Trolley District.
