Sunday Silent Reading at the Bode Museum
Silent Book Club is a group of book lovers who enjoy reading together in public. All books and all readers are welcome.
(Kindly RSVP 'yes' only if you can make it, so we can save a seat for you and our fellow readers on the waitlist!)
This page-turning party will unfold in the Café (1st floor) at the Bode Museum.
There's no entrance fee, but please order at least one item from the cafe and don't bring any outside drinks :)
No quizzes, no pressure, no assigned books - just a group of book-loving souls basking in the beauty of silent reading.
**Our thrilling agenda:**
10:30 am - 11:00 am - Arrivals, ordering drinks/food (social time)
11:00 am - 12:00 pm - The Great Quiet Reading Hour (where silence is the star)
12:00 pm - 13:00 pm - Optional socializing, share your reading adventures or just keep exploring the pages
Stay for lunch, and who knows? You might just find your next favorite book over a pizza.
NB: If you plan to go for lunch, please consider bringing cash, as some restaurants only accept card payments after a certain amount.
Portrait Drawing on Sunday Afternoon
This group is for everyone who is interested in drawing portraits!
For me, drawing has been a wonderful way to gain a new perspective on the world and the people within it.
Whether you are just starting out or have been drawing for ages â all levels are welcome :)
How it works:
1\. We meet at The Castle pub in Mitte and do short sittings of 15 minutes for each other\. The first sitting is divided into 3 warm\-up sketches\, 5 minutes each\.
2\. Before we start\, everybody writes their name on a blank card \(provided by the organizer\); these cards are then used to randomly pick the model every 15 minutes\.
3\. Usually we do 8 sittings\, with a 15\-minute break in the middle \(so after 4 sittings\, or 1 hour\)\.
-> The participation is free, but it is expected that everybody orders something from the bar to support the lovely location.
Get out your pencils and let's start!
Please bring your own art supplies!
Realistic Portrait Drawing with Pencil
*Photo and drawing: © Alessia Sinopoli*
This workshop is aimed at anyone who wishes to explore realistic pencil portrait drawing from photographic references through a structured method, and wants to learn or refine pencil hatching and shading techniques.
The workshop is designed for a small group, allowing a flexible and supportive approach, adapting to each participantâs level: from guiding beginners to helping experienced artists tackle their personal creative challenges. Without the pressure of achieving a final result, we will immerse ourselves in learning the method and enjoying the creative process.
You will train the ability to truly observe a face, and the practical tools to translate it effectively into an authentic, realistic portrait.
**What weâll do... step by step:**
Weâll combine theory and practice.
* Practice targeted observation to select the best reference photo
* Use the grid method for accurate proportions and create a preliminary sketch
* Understand the differences between pencils of various hardness and get familiar with the materials weâll use
* Master shading (the real magic!) with hatching techniques to shape volume and depth
* Train your observational skills to recognize different tonal values
* Explore changing perspectives to refresh your vision
* Discuss common mistakes and learn how to avoid them
* Participate in an open Q&A, receive personalized tips, and get feedback throughout the process
* Learn how to preserve and protect your finished portrait
**Breaks and Refreshments**
While drawing, weâll enjoy some tea. Between the first and second parts of the workshop, weâll take a relaxing 30-minute break, as drawing can be quite intense. Itâll be the perfect moment to connect, share a cup of coffee, and savor a slice of cake together. And since itâs the pre-festive season, this time the cake will be Italian panettone, to add a touch of pre-Christmas cheer!
**Location**
The workshop takes place here at Kunstraum Heartspace, a bright and inspiring shared studio. Itâs welcoming and filled with creative energy.
**Booking**

Living in Color: Queer and Confident at 50+
**Living in Color: Queer and Confident at 50+**
with *Jörg Wellenkötter*
for **GBTQ men\***
**[Free event with registration](https://wearevillage.org/shop/men50plus/w51-2025)**
Queer people over 50 face a range of challenges in a society shaped by youth, physical attractiveness, and heteronormativity.
Even within the queer community, there can be ageism, where older individuals are seen as less relevant or interesting. A lack of family structures or close friends can also lead to isolation in midlife.
In this group, youâll meet like-minded people who are also navigating the challenges of getting older.
Here, we support and empower one another, share our experiences, and learn from each other. Together, we want to embrace the challenges of aging â and enjoy life to the fullest!
**General information**
**Language**: Depending on the groupâs needs, sessions will be held in German and/or English.
**Cost**: Free of charge, registration required.

#### Leben in Farbe: Queer und selbstbewusst mit 50+
#####

Drawing Cafe [#51] Coffee & Sketching in Berlin
We meet and sketch each other in Berlin. This is just an art gym that we also exercise our social skills. Afterwards usually we go for lunch as a group.
**How Does It Work?**
This event is simple, we meet and sketch each other doing portraits. Most of the participants use pencils or watercolors. Main aim is to socialize while we draw. There will be plenty of time to talk and get to know each other. We have to mention that this event is suitable for all levels. Many have started to draw in our event actually.
**Structure**
A. Warmup Phase: We pose to each other for 1 minute.
B. Main Phase: We pose to each other for 10 minutes.
C. Showcase Phase: We show some of the drawings we did to each other.
**Who We Are**
Creative Sessions is an art events group located in Berlin.
**Is it Free?**
The event is free of charge.
Iï»żt is advisable to get a drink though. This is a cafe, we need to have at least half of the people on each table with a drink. They accept only cash and most hot drinks cost from 2.50 to 3.50.
**How to help or donate?**
The event is provided for free but many people help this be a regular thing. We also need people to volunteer and help for minor tasks like the serving of the drinks or cleaning up. Just send us a message.
If you want to donate and keep this event from happening, via Paypal to the host (Miltos) :

In Person Event: The Secrets to Mental Health
Mental Health, how do you understand it? How can you improve it?
How do you get rid of stress, anxiety and uncertainty? These emotions are buried deep in your reactive mind. Find out what the reactive mind is, and in the process find yourself.
Have you ever suffered from a traumatic experience, a deep loss or been through a painful breakup? Has your ability to communicate suffered as a result? And after that, even though you "moved on" did you find that things were never quite the same? Have you ever looked at childhood photos, or reminisced your early life and wondered where that happiness and spark went?
Are your emotions out of your own control? Have you ever felt, even if you arenât aware of it, that possibly you are getting in your own way of your happiness and success? How does this affect your self-confidence?
Find out what is at the root of all stress, anxiety, depression and self-doubt. Find out how and why you hold yourself back from achieving your goals and having the life you have dreamed of. As soon as you learn what is at the root of these unwanted conditions, youâll see it is something you can DO something about. You will not be labeled or categorized at this MeetUp.
This group is hosted by the Dianetics and Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.
