**Summary of the talks**
**Talk 1:** In this talk, we’ll walk through how Rabobank designs for failure using AWS Backup: from automated policies and immutable vaults to restore testing and ransomware protection. Because resilience isn’t just about having backups—it’s about knowing they work.
**Talk 2:** What happens after an innovation delivers a promising platform before it’s ready for enterprise scale, governance, and speed? That’s where our journey begins. You’ll hear how we evolved the architecture to support over 100 microservices powering digital lending on a compliant-by-design AWS environment. We’ll share the decisions we made along the way: what we kept and what we changed. Central to our approach is Infrastructure as Code to enable consistency, repeatability, and control on the platform. We’ll show how this foundation helped us automate operations, accelerate delivery, and meet strict compliance requirements. Join us to learn how to bridge the gap between innovation and enterprise readiness, turning a promising start into a scalable, secure, and developer-friendly platform.
**Talk 3:** EDSN acts as the digital backbone of the energy market, supporting essential data exchange processes across the energy market value chain. We explore this role, the underlying IT foundation, and the challenges and trade-offs that come with it.

Swimming lessons for adults | Beginners
If you are living in The Netherlands, by now, you may well have noticed the amount of open water. If you enjoy cycling in the city, you may wish to feel safer as you navigate the bridges and canals. And you may also want to get ready for visiting the beach, pools or the many lakes this summer.
Learning how to swim takes approx 1 year and it all starts with the very first lesson. New comers enroll via our website and pay € 30,50, this is the first lesson and a goody bag. After the class you agree with the personal swim coach how to continue to obtain your final objectives.
Enrolling is only possible via [www.your-personal-swim-coach.nl ](https://www.your-personal-swim-coach.nl/)hence a rvsp via meetup is not enough.

One last hike w/ Constantinos - Meijendel the Hague (Group's Birthplace)
Hi everyone; alas, all things eventually come to an end, and in this case my time as a meetup organizer is coming to an end. I'll still be around, maybe contributing tango events to the community (depending on its decision and new wave of organizers).
So for one last time (with me), if you want to enjoy nature, trips/excursions, and generally a more outdoors setting, let’s get together for a final hiking excursion.
The plan is to meet at Utrecht Central (and/or a train station that is closest to our hiking area), and then we begin our hiking route. As always, I recommend that you wear a comfy outfit & shoes and bring water & a snack or two.
At some point during the excursion, we can do a break in between to rest and eat/drink for a while.
More info about the route/location: https://www.ns.nl/dagje-uit/wandelen/meijendel.html Short info from the route's site; the route is 13 km in total For pet owners, dogs are allowed but on a leash Once we reach the beach north of Scheveningen, we'll be sitting there for a while in the sunset. Then we will end up in Scheveningen Pier.
And depending on the time & weather, and whether people are up for it, there’s always the possibility of follow-up drinks later at Scheveningen.
More tips on finding the group along with helpful contact info with the host will follow in the comments the day before the meetup.
To those willing to join, I'd be delighted to have you with me at the end of my meetup organizer time 😊 In case of bad (NL) weather, the event will be moved to another day.
IN-PERSON Book Club Meeting - 'THE SYMPATHIZER' - Viet Thanh Nguyen
'THE SYMPATHIZER' by Viet Thanh Nguyen
'The winner of the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, as well as seven other awards, The Sympathizer is the breakthrough novel of the year. With the pace and suspense of a thriller and prose that has been compared to Graham Greene and Saul Bellow, The Sympathizer is a sweeping epic of love and betrayal. The narrator, a communist double agent, is a man of two minds, a half-French, half-Vietnamese army captain who arranges to come to America after the Fall of Saigon, and while building a new life with other Vietnamese refugees in Los Angeles is secretly reporting back to his communist superiors in Vietnam. The Sympathizer is a blistering exploration of identity and America, a gripping espionage novel, and a powerful story of love and friendship.'
***Please read the book and join us for a lively discussion (in English) about the contents during our afternoon book club meeting.***

\#\#\# UX TALKS
**Talk 1:** **UX with AI: Did we all just get promoted?**
By An-Sofie Rombouts, Product designer @ Gorilla
Working in a startup often means designing without established UX processes. So with AI emerging, it can feel like a lifeline: faster prototyping, '*deeper*' research, and more concepts to explore. But somewhere between the third AI-generated prototype and losing the thread of your prompted designs, it can become painfully obvious what the impact is of designing with LLMs.
We're not executing anymore, we're reviewing, approving, and critiquing, like a manager.
This talk gets honest about what that actually means: the speed gains are real, but the cognitive debt is quietly compounding, and your future as a designer depends on understanding why.
Explore how designers can protect their cognitive depth, enhance their review capacity, and stay in control when the machine can almost draw anything.
**Talk 2:** **Growing UX in organisations that are not there yet.**
By Koen Peters, Designer at Namahn
More and more organisations are asking us to help build design expertise in-house, even putting together a design team for them. I have learnt that in such cases, you need to set aside your own biases and assumptions first: your neatly mapped-out methodology, your Figma dogmas and all the other things you as a design agency take for granted. The reality in these organisations is often very different: limited resources, no design culture and few or no trained designers on the team. Through a few client case studies, I will show how we have tackled such challenges. Organising a training in UX and design thinking is a good first step, offering a chance to get to know the team and identify which skills are already there and which are missing. I will also demonstrate tools and activities that we have used to help a team get started and become more aware of UX research and design. These include a script for choosing the right UX approach, skills assessment models to identify gaps and first steps towards creating a design playbook.
