Moomba Festival 2026 Fireworks [Free Event]
Moomba Festival 2026 Fireworks [Free Event]
Please remember to RSVP for this event on meetup to confirm your spot. Please read the group rules listed below before signing up. If you are bringing friends, please ensure that they RSVP on meetup as well. We have an event daily to view the fireworks on all days of the Moomba Festival 2026. To keep group sizes manageable, we kindly ask that you RSVP for only one of the five fireworks sessions. If you’ve signed up for more than one session, your RSVP will not be accepted — this helps give everyone a fair chance to attend and to keep group sizes manageable. **Meeting Point**: Let's meet infront of Timeout Fed Square at 8:30 PM. It will not be possible to find us once we leave the meeting point. Please don't be late. Map: [https://maps.app.goo.gl/wANGQW4e1pBUUdwu6](https://maps.app.goo.gl/wANGQW4e1pBUUdwu6) Let's go to see **Moomba Fireworks 2026**. Feel the explosion of joy as the sky lights up with a colourful firework display each night of Moomba. Sit, stand or dance under the pyrotechnic spectacular, an exploding array of flowers and multi-layered colours. **This is a Free Event!** Please follow us on Social Media for photos, videos & updates: [YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/@explore-melbourne) \| [Facebook Page](https://www.facebook.com/exploremelb) \| [Facebook Group](https://www.facebook.com/groups/exploremelb) \| [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/xpmelb/) \| [TikTok](https://www.tiktok.com/@exploremelbourne) \| [ExploreMelbourne.AU](https://exploremelbourne.au/) Explore Melbourne is the largest meetup group in Australia. We have eight simple rules in place to protect our community and for everyone to have a positive experience. ❌ Not a dating group! – We’re here to make friends, not find soulmates. No flirty business, please! 📵 No phone numbers, please! – Feel free to swap social media if both parties are cool with it, but let’s keep our digits private. Please don’t add people to WhatsApp or other groups. 🔞 Our events are only open to people aged 18 and older. 📢 Please do not advertise other events or groups. 😅 Don’t be a social octopus! – Give people space to chat with others. Please don't be clingy. 🚗 We don't allow carpooling due to safety incidents/our public liability insurance not covering motor related accidents. 💰 No sales pitches! – No selling, no MLMs, no pyramid schemes, no “life-changing mentorship” offers—let’s keep things scam-free. 📸 Cameras welcome, but… – please refrain from taking photos of our members for privacy reasons. By joining this event, you’re giving us a virtual pinky promise 🤝 that you’ll follow the rules. Break them, and—poof!—you’re out for good. No second chances, no do-overs. Let’s keep it fun, friendly, and drama-free! **Liability Waiver:** The organizer of this group cannot accept any liability for any loss, damage, injury, or accident to participants or their property at this event. Moomba Festival and Birdman Rally
Moomba Festival and Birdman Rally
The hilarious Birdman Rally is a long-held Moomba tradition that sees competitors hurtle themselves off a platform over the Yarra River to see who can fly the furthest before splashing down. The rally runs from 11 am to 12 pm on Sunday, 8th March, and the platform is usually on the North side/City side of the Yarra, so it's best photographed from the south side. Our meeting point will be behind the Alexandra Gardens Skate Park on Boathouse Drive at 10:30 am. Colour & its Many Benefits
Colour & its Many Benefits
Hosted by the Melbourne Theosophical Society and conducted by the Scottish Medium and Colour Therapist Eleanor Walker, this interactive event will include a talk about the seven Spectrum Colours, and the benefit of Colour Light or Silk Therapy for people and animals. Knowledge of colour enhances our Spiritual and Human connection; it Unites us with its simplicity. Aboriginal people use the colours of the Earth to create their history through images and dreamtime stories and colour was used in ancient times by the Romans and Egyptians who would use colour capsules to help heal people. Although Colour Therapy is a stand alone modality it is best used as a complimentary treatment in conjunction with conventional medical practices and is now used in the hospitals and hospices. Colour affects our mood, our emotions and our bodily faculties. We can drink it, eat it, wear it, decorate with it, include it in Psychic or Mediumship work. Each day of the week has a colour associated with it, numerology includes colour. The benefits are well worth exploring. Eleanor Walker was born in Airdrie, Scotland. From an early age she was always colouring in and was fascinated with colours. She found she would have what she called “knowings” where she would blurt out information that she could not possibly have known. This upset her Mother as she did not want her to be seen as different. As the years passed she developed her knowledge of Colour and qualified as a Colour Therapist eventually gaining a Diploma in Colour Therapy. Eleanor discovered her knowings were in fact coming from Spirit. She developed her Mediumship with the renowned Scottish Spirit Medium Gordon Smith completing his Intuitive Studies course. She has served Spirit around the UK, Germany, Northern Ireland, Finland, the USA, the Netherlands and Australia, facilitating workshops on the benefits of Colour for healing as well as every- day use and teaching students how to include colour with their Mediumship. Eleanor is the Co-Facilitator of The Scottish Spiritualist Seminar which is held each year at Stirling University. She is a member of the International Spiritualist Federation and has conducted short workshops at their seminars. She is also the author of two books “No Proof Required, Embracing my life as a Medium” and “Through Darkness to Light , Grief; a Medium’s Viewpoint”.

Contra dance with Big Scioty on March 7 - First Congregational Church
Contra dance with Big Scioty on March 7 - First Congregational Church
**Caller: Frank Buschelmann** **Band: The Rosenthorns** **Big Scioty Contra Dance** **temporarily returning to our long ago location for Jan-March - First Congregational Church, 444 E. Broad St., Columbus 43215** WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing! Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor. Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner. Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot. For more information contact me or check out our website: [www.bigscioty.com](http://www.bigscioty.com/) Please bring your own refillable water bottle. Snacks to share are always welcome!
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for March is "Our Bodies, Ourselves" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
