Friday coffee morning
**International House Leuven** organizes a coffee morning for those of you who like to chat and meet some friendly (new) faces. It's also a good place to ask questions, get answers and find out about whatâs happening in Leuven. Our coffee morning is what you make it. So pop in and out whenever you like, see who is there, and say hi!
We meet **every two weeks on Friday morning**, usually at the International House Leuven itself although we tour coffee houses occasionally as well. More on that below.
Who's "we"? Well it varies a bit, but our regular hosts are IHL staff member, Anna, or Evelyne, one of the IHL volunteers. Generally we're anything between 5 to 20 participants, a nice mix of regulars and new folks. And we have room for more!
**The practicalities**:
* the coffee morning goes **from 10:30 until noon**. Feel free to pop in and out at any point, no need to stay the entire time if that doesn't suit your own timing
* the location of the event will always be up to date on the Meetup event page.
* ask the event volunteer to add you to the Whatsapp group so you can keep up to date with venue changes and other last minute things.
* walk-ins are very welcome too!
Hope to see you at the Friday coffee morning!
PS: If you're keen to host one of the coffee mornings with us, possibly at another time of the week, let us know!

Microdancing in Brussels: a dance event for small movements and big presence
### **What is microdancing?**
Microdancing is a dance form based on very small, subtle movements and an intimate, nuanced connection between partners. Instead of big steps or flashy moves, it focuses on tiny gestures, breath-sized shifts, and minimal body communication. This allows dancers to truly listenâto the music and to each otherâcreating a quiet yet deeply expressive shared experience.
### **Who is this event for?**
Microdancing is easy to pick up. Whether youâre completely new to dance or highly experienced in one or several styles, youâll be able to find a partner and share a meaningful moment on the dance floor.
### **What will the event be like?**
Weâll start with open-level workshops that introduce useful tools and techniques for microdancing. These sessions are also a playful way to build connection, trust, and a shared dance language among participants.
The potluck will nourish both body and spirit, giving us time to relax and get to know one another.
In the evening, there will be space to freely practice and explore microdancing, with music by DJ Diana.

**A MESSAGE FOR NEWCOMERS:**
*In the three years of hosting this coffee group, I have met many people who struggle with anxieties when coming to an event for the first time. Sometimes, it took them more than one attempt before being able to join.*
*Occasionally, people reach out to me before the event, and I have always been grateful for that as it offers the opportunity to communicate with each other and to find the best and most gentle way for that person to join the group.*
*I would like to encourage everyone who struggles with this to contact me before. It would really be too bad if you can't join us, as it mostly gets better the second or third time you come.*
*In addition to that, if you arrive and notice any signs of nervousness or fear, you can always let me know right then.*
**THANK YOU AND SEE YOU ALL ON Saturday!**
Deep Conversation - Question Chosen in Session
Welcome to our weekly event in the upstairs room of The Sister Café, rue Chair et Pain 3, one block from the Grand Place. Please get there early enough to order your drink at the bar first. Thank you!
After introductions we will collect questions from the group participants, choose one by voting then discuss it for an hour. Then most of us stay for drinks and bizarre conversations.
Past questions have been wide and not confined to academic philosophy:
What is a genuine friend?
Is social media turning us into emotional zombies?
Do we lose some of the experience of things by defining them?
Are we driven by sex?
Is loneliness a personal failure?
Is morality relative?
**Crucially, be kind and respectful and generous** in your disagreements; remember how much you personally enjoy someone else proving you wrong before celebrating your cutting counterexamples.
âListening Withinâ - an Art Therapy workshop
**âA creative space to connect with your body.â**
âIn the rush of everyday life, it can be easy to forget to slow down and listen to what is happening within.
âYet this is often where a deeper kind of wisdom can be found. The body is constantly communicating with us - if we give ourselves the space to notice and listen.
âThis workshop offers just that: a gentle space to reconnect and explore what your body might be asking for.
âJoin us for a creative journey where we will settle the nervous system through sensorial, tactile exercises that bring you into contact with your body. Laura will then guide you through an inner listening process, allowing your own sensations, images, and insights to emerge.
âEveryone is welcome. You donât need any previous artistic experience - just a bit of curiosity.
**Price: 15 euros per person**
**Please book via the following link:** [https://luma.com/4rrgaipu](https://luma.com/4rrgaipu)
*Clicking 'attending' on Meetup does not secure you a space!*
â**What you can expect:**
â- a kind, respectful and non-judgmental atmosphere
\- gentle\, guided explorations
\- the use of different media such as paint\, ink\, clay\, drawing or collage
â**Practical information:**
â- Workshop duration: 2 hours
\- Open to all from 14 \+
\- Language: English but a French translation is possible
\- Please wear comfortable\, loose clothing that allows you to move freely and that you don't mind getting paint on
\- All materials will be provided

Book Club Meeting: My Friends
For our third, weâll be discussing My Friends by Fredrik Backman â a moving and heartfelt novel about friendship, art, and the ways people leave a mark on each otherâs lives.
About the book:
In a quiet seaside town, a group of teenagers spend their days escaping difficult lives through art and their deep friendship with one another. One summer, a painting is created that will eventually become world-famous. Years later, the story behind that painting begins to surface, revealing the powerful bond between the friends who inspired it and the life-changing events that shaped them.
As past and present intertwine, the novel explores how friendships form us, how stories survive over time, and how a single moment of connection can echo across generations

In-Person Event: The Answers to Depression & Anxiety
This is an in-person meeting. At this meeting you will get answers to depression and anxiety. Find out the source of them and how to get rid of them.
Did you know that unwanted emotions like anxiety, depression, unhappiness, loneliness, hopelessness, anger, fear, or feelings of irritation donât just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not due to a chemical imbalance in your brain from some nebulous chemical reaction "by chance".
Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you.
The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life.
Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life.
Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there.
This group is created by the Hubbard Dianetics Foundation of Central Ohio and Church of Scientology of Central Ohio.
Drunken Philosophy: Whatâs up with all the AI hate?
**Welcome to Drunken Philosophy** a casual, curious social discussion
**Optional topic for this meetup: What's up with all the AI hate?**
A recent survey found that 74% of Americans have a negative view of AI, and I want to know why. Come out and debate whether AI is good or bad.
My hot take: a labor-saving tool that could potentially help cure cancer gets called dangerous because it might raise unemployment or cause a speculative investment bubble, that tells you a lot more about capitalism and the economic system we live under than it does about the tool itself. As a computer programmer, I think AI is a wonderful tool that has increased my productivity by at least an order of magnitude. I'd go so far as to say Claude Code is the best tool I have ever used. Debate me and name a better one.
Is AI potentially dangerous? Yes, but so are a lot of tools. Chainsaws. Steam engines (early ones would occasionally explode and kill everyone in the room). Do you think cavemen sat around debating whether fire could be used as a weapon or for self-harm, and decided not to discover it?
I have two friends who hate AI for opposite reasons: one thinks it's a fad and not useful, and the other thinks it's going to take over everything and cause human extinction.
Come out tonight, have a friendly debate, and make some friends.
No lectures. Friendly crowd. Drop in for one drink and stay if it's fun.
Omnipresent Atheists Weekly Meetup (4th Tues)
Jimmy V's Grill & Pub in Grandview Heights. You are responsible for your own meal/drinks. We usually don't have any agenda other than eat, drink and talk. :) If the weather is nice we will be on the back patio, otherwise we are in the cigar room.
This group has been meeting every Tuesday evening for over a decade. Many attendees do not RSVP on meetup. Please don't let the small number here discourage you. Anyone/everyone is welcome to come. We'd love to have you join us.
COTA bus #5 comes to W. 5th and Wyandotte Rd. And it's a minute walk to the restaurant.
Must See Thursday: I LOVE BOOSTERS at the Drexel + GRAETER'S!
Join us as we get together to see the top-reviewed comedy-drama, I LOVE BOOSTERS! The film comes from writer/director Boots Riley and follows a group of shoplifters who take aim at a cutthroat fashion maven. Here are details, trailers and our plan for this event:
