Faith & Fork (Adult Small Group)
Good food has a way of bringing people together. Faith & Fork is a small group built around the simple idea that meaningful connection often happens around a table.
Each gathering includes a shared meal, conversation, a brief devotional, laughter-filled games, and prayer. Together we'll explore one guiding question: "If Jesus were at the table..."
What would he say? What would he notice? How would he respond to the stories, struggles, celebrations, and questions we bring? And how might we be invited to respond as people seeking to follow him?
Whether you're new to church, have been part of a faith community for years, or simply long for authentic connection, there's a seat for you. Come enjoy a meal, meet new friends, share meaningful conversation, and discover how faith can shape everyday life around the table.
Expect good food, thoughtful discussion, plenty of laughter, and a welcoming community where you can know and be known.
A seat is waiting for you at Faith & Fork. đ´â¤ď¸
When: 4th Fridays \| 6:30â8:00 PM
What to Expect: Shared meal ⢠Fellowship ⢠Devotional conversation ⢠Games ⢠Prayer ⢠Community

The Power of the Subconscious Mind
**THE POWER OF THE SUBCONSCIOUS OVER YOU**
You are welcome to arrive 15 minutes early for refreshments!
At the lecture "The Power of the Subconscious", the speaker will clearly and understandably explain topics such as:
What is the exact definition of the Subconscious Mind?
How does it inflict unwanted feelings and anxiety in you?
What determines how much pressure it exerts on a person?
What exactly is the goal of the subconscious?
This is not just a lecture where you sit quietly and listen. It's interactive and LIVE, so you can ask questions at any time.
And the most important topic:
**HOW DO YOU TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR SUBCOUNSCIOUS!**
This group is sponsored by the Dianetics Life Improvement Center.
Last Fridays at the Farm - Neurodivergent Therapists & Holistic Healers
This is a peer support group for neurodivergent and neuro-affirming therapists and other healers in the mental health and somatic spaces. We'll meet the last Friday We'll have opportunities to socialize and grow our professional referral base in a fun, outdoor (and indoor when needed) environment. It's held on a goat farm in Silver Spring, MD so yes, you'll definitely get to be goofy around and with goats!
Feel free to bring virtual and paper business cards and a snack to share if you choose to. There's a $35 fee per group which goes to cover the cost of nonalcoholic beverages and snacks. Feel free to bring a guest for free.
I'll get us started with a brief ice-breaker activity or I might just pick a willing volunteer to help.
Mind & Meaning Lab
Hey everyone, this is our very first gathering!
Weâre keeping it low-key and real. Just honest talk about the big stuff: life, meaning (or the lack of it), absurdity, consciousness, the illusions we all live with, and whatever else bubbles up. Thereâll be existential philosophy, psychology, neuroscience, and plenty of dark humor (Iâm sure of it with people who enjoy staring into the void!)
Itâs an introductory meetup, so no pressure. Come, chat about whether youâve been thinking about this stuff for years or youâre just curious and a little unsure. Weâve all probably been there.
Weâll have one loose topic to get things startedâ which is whether we create meaning in life or is it predetermined? But mostly itâll be open conversation. Stay as long as you want, leave whenever you need.
Look forward to our chat!
Wakefulness Through Writing & Walking
This is a group for adults who want to ground in nature and connect to their creative selves in a warm and supportive environment. We'll meet weekly for 13 weeks (beginning June 26th) at a goat farm in Silver Spring, MD. We'll begin with a goat walk. That's right, we'll walk through the woods with goats and then focus on the chapters of Julia Cameron's book, *Walking in This World.*
Maybe you want to dive deeper after having completed a facilitated group based on Cameron's first book, *The Artist's Way* or you want to jump right into exploring your inner landscape through writing and grounding in nature. You don't have to be a self-proclaimed or professional writer or artist to join. Just bring your curiosity, a copy of the book, something to write with and a commitment to attend all sessions if possible.
Since the in-person portion of the group will be held at a private residence, I'll email registrants the address once they've signed up. Please dress in comfy clothes that might possibly be nibbled on by adorable goats, as the residence is also a goat farm. Wear closed toed shoes and feel free to bring water, a snack for yourself, bug spray and sunblock. In-person attendees will meet at 7 am.
In the event of more than light rain, we'll skip goat walks and meet in the indoor office. There is an indoor bathroom on-site.
For those joining on-line, plan to join at 7:30 am. You'll also need something to write with and a copy of the book.
Mamma Mania Abba Tribute Band at Reston Station Plaza
Join us for an evening of music that showcases not only the incredible songs but also the joyful spirit of ABBA. This was the best time we had last summer! Whether youâre a lifelong fan or new to their music, this tribute promises to be an unforgettable experience filled with energy, enthusiasm, and plenty of dancing. Don't miss your chance to be part of this extraordinary celebration of ABBA from some of New Yorkâs finest!!
Lets get there at 6:30 to grab space on the plaza. The band plays from 7:30 - 9:00. Bring a chair to take a break from all the dancing we will do!
Park in the ParkX lot. You will have to take a ticket but the event event organizers will hand out chaser tickets to make the parking free.
Open Shop Hours
We will have open shop hours for anyone to bring their bikes to work on or need help fixing your own bike.
We will also have bikes that need to be fixed so you can learn if you like.
We will need everyone to sign in when arriving and sign out when leaving so we can keep track of volunteer hours and shop times.
Suggested donation of $15 per hour for use of tools and space would be appreciated. Thank you!

Game On!
Beat the heat and play a game in the company of your fellow autists this Saturday!
Per library policy, food is prohibited, but covered drinks are permitted.
I'll bring my Uno cards. Please bring board games, card games, whatever games you want!
Per fire code, only 20 persons are permitted. Once the RSVP limit hits 20, the list will be closed. But don't worry! We'll be going to dinner afterwards.
June Grand Gaming Melee
At long last, construction work at Arlington Central Library is complete, at least in the area thatâs most important to AARGGH: the auditorium. The librarians are delighted to welcome us back for the first Grand Gaming Melee there in nearly three years. As in pre-construction days, weâll have board games, card games, dice games, tile games, and just about every other kind of game that can be played on a tabletop. Bring games you want to play, or come without games and play what others bring. If you see a new one you want to try, there will be plenty of people eager to teach you.
Donât forget snacks! Youâll need to replenish your energy during the day, so please bring something delicious to share. Cookies, crackers, and pretzels are popular options, as are sodas and juices. Some people bring doughnuts, cupcakes, or other substantial sweets; these are always appreciated and disappear quickly. Others may provide healthy treats of fruit and vegetables â we appreciate everything you bring to share!
**AN EXTREMELY IMPORTANT NOTE:** While the library welcomes us with open arms, it does not offer us an open refrigerator. Due to remodeling in the building, we no longer have access to a kitchen. **If you bring any drinks or foods that should remain chilled, you must bring a cooler for them.** Your host â as always â will bring a couple of coolers filled with freshly brewed iced tea and excellent store-bought lemonade. Undoubtedly there will be demand for more drinks than he can carry, so a few attendees should heed the call of the thirsty.
If you bring something else to drink, please provide cold storage for it. You may want to coordinate such an effort with your fellow players to supply maximum variety of beverages with a minimum of containers; feel free to post comments on this page for this purpose. Food and drink will be deployed on the stage at the front of the auditorium to separate it from the playing area.
Official start time is 10:30am, but you may arrive as early as 10:00am to help with setup. Cleanup begins around 4:00pm (or whenever you decide that you canât squeeze in one more game before the end of the event). The librarians appreciate our vacating the auditorium by 4:30pm, and by âappreciateâ they mean that our compliance determines whether weâll be invited back for another Grand Gaming Melee.
Arlington Central cleanup instructions:
* Place all trash in the bins provided. Make sure that no scraps of paper, cardboard, or food remain on the floor.
* Leave the tables and chairs where you used them. The next group can deal with setup the same way we did.
Whatâs On Your Spiritual Bucket List? (Free Event)
**MLK Library - Room 302E**
So many of us have a bucket list of things we hope to do or achieve before we âkick the bucketâ! But do we also need to consider creating a spiritual bucket list â not just a list of things we want to do, but of things we want to be? And do we wait to one day just become these things, or are these things we can â and should we â be working on right now, day by day?
What makes a bucket list meaningful is that it be a reflection of what you value and desire â a tool to help push ourselves to grow and develop and fulfill our highest aspirations. Things like skydiving, traveling, running a marathon, and buying a house are common to-doâs helping us achieve our material aspirations. But what about considering our ultimate to-doâs to fulfill our spiritual purpose? What if we aspired to grow spiritually, to be kinder and more virtuous people, to help others in need? Do we need to wait for some future time to do these things, or can we actually draw closer every day to achieving these goals through our daily choices and spiritual habits? What would it look like to live a life designed around reaching these spiritual goals and reaching our true, spiritual purpose? How can we support each other in checking off our spiritual bucket lists?
Come join a different kind of conversation â one that welcomes every perspective in a search for the deeper truths that unite us â as we discuss the spiritual perspective offered by the BahĂĄâĂ Teachings on fulfilling our spiritual purpose. Please join us for a lively discussion as we explore how we can each live a life of spiritual growth and fulfillment and create communities that support each and every one of us.
*âMaterial progress insures the happiness of the human world. Spiritual progress insures the happiness and eternal continuance of the soul.â* â BahĂĄâĂ Teachings
**\*\*\* This event is free and open to all regardless of background or belief. Donations will not be accepted.**

CMG Gives Back: Serve Dinner at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!
Join us as we get together to get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, weâll help âCreate a better worldâ by helping serve those in need. NOTE: Weâre switching it up this time and going with a DINNER shift on Mon, 7/6. Here are complete details and our plan for this event:
FAITH MISSION â GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces.
PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for DINNER from 4:30 to 6:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 4:20pm and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants.
LOCATION: Faith Mission â Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking are available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details:
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain youâll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to those volunteering at this (or any of our previous or future) CMG Gives Back events!
Look forward to seeing you there, Dan
