Seoul Vibe: A Global Conversation on Life's Big Questions
What does it mean to be human in a complex world?
This special Curious Souls Cafe features "Seoul Vibe"—a collection of thought-provoking questions **created by our community in Seoul**. These questions aren't about Korea; they're about the universal experiences we all share: the search for purpose, the dance of emotions, the art of connection, and the journey of self-discovery.
We'll dive into questions like:
* Is purpose something we discover or something we create?
* What makes emotional awareness difficult, and how can we improve it?
* How do we build relationships that are both fulfilling and authentic?
* What shapes our identity, and how does it evolve over time?
* How does culture influence our worldview and connections?
Join us for a conversation that transcends geography and delves into the heart of what it means to be human.
Inviting all Curious Souls who are passionate about:
🌍 Curious about life's big questions
💭 Reflecting on purpose, emotions, and relationships
🗣️ Interested in diverse perspectives and shared human experiences
🤝 Looking for genuine connection and meaningful conversation
🌱 Exploring personal growth and self-understanding
🗓️ Agenda / What You'll Experience
💬 Meaningful Icebreaker Conversation Cards (Round 1)
We will begin the session with meaningful conversation cards. You'll have the opportunity to pick a card and initiate thought-provoking conversations with fellow attendees.
Note: This may involve virtual question cards accessed via a link or QR code. If you do not have a device (phone/tablet) to access these, please ask a facilitator for assistance; we have spare units available.
💬 Focused Discussion on a Meaningful Topic (Round 2)
Where time allows, after warming up, our diverse group of friends and strangers will come together exchanging ideas on intriguing topics chosen spontaneously.
Each participant is encouraged to contribute by sharing a unique question. You’re welcome to bring a question that’s been on your mind, or you can draw inspiration from the icebreaker conversation cards provided. Once all the questions are collected, the group will collaboratively select one to kick off the discussion.
From there, we’ll embark on a respectful, engaging, and meaningful conversation, celebrating the diversity of perspectives and ideas within the group.
💬 Final Thoughts and Feedback
In the final 10 minutes of the event, we’ll take a moment to reflect on the key insights, memorable moments, and takeaways from our discussions. This is a chance to distill the shared wisdom and leave with a deeper understanding of the topics we’ve explored together.
After the event officially concludes, we may choose to extend the session, depending on the group’s interest. Of course, you’re welcome to leave at any time that feels right for you.
An anonymized summary will be shared for sessions where key insights are identified. After the meeting, our facilitators and participants may reflect on the discussion and contribute to a summary or collaborative workbook based on their notes and observations. Additionally, questions may be revisited in future sessions in an anonymized manner. Want to immerse yourself in books, but can't find the time?
You've come to the right place!
**The What:**
We will start small, take baby steps (quite literally!) and peruse picture books.
**The How:**
Structure:
\- We will go through 2 or 3 picture books in one sitting\. I will be bringing the books with me so you don't need to have the read the book prior to coming\.
\- We will follow this up with a discussion on the content\, theme\, and illustrations in the book\. This will be a free\-flowing conversation and we'll ensure equal air\-time for all participants\.
\- Since these are picture books\, you do not need proficiency in English to enjoy them\.
We'll go through these in our upcoming circle:
(i) Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers
(ii) Mukand and Riaz by Nina Sabnani
**The Why:**
Still on the fence about the event? Here's an article that gives you 10 reasons why you should join.

Year-End Book Club Picnic: Share Your Inspiration!
🌟 **Join us for a special year-end picnic!** 🌟
As we wrap up the year, let’s come together to share the books that have inspired us on our journeys of personal growth and wellbeing. Whether it’s a book that changed your perspective or contributed to your self-discovery, we’d love to hear about it!
This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who are passionate about self-growth and wellbeing through reading.
What to Bring:
- Your favorite book that has made a difference for you this year or has helped you in terms of personal growth
- A warm drink or beverage of your choice (coffee, tea, etc.)
- Optional: Light snacks to share (some will be provided)
Let’s celebrate the power of reading, inspire one another, and strengthen our community as we close out the year together!
Looking forward to a wonderful gathering of stories, connection, and joy!
Tue. Cafe Writing/Sharing Session
We are writers of all levels – beginners to published.
And we meet at STARBUCK at IFC (P2 Shop2097-2098, International Finance Centre), Central for fun writing and sharing sessions!
We all write a one-sentence prompt, then each select one at random. We write something based on the prompt for 45 minutes, after which, we share our work with each other and discuss as desired. Of course, sharing is optional but encouraged. (Feedback is always polite and respectful.)
Alternatively, you can bring your own project(s) to work on in the company of fellow writers (published and yet-to-be published). You can share your project(s), too, if you want.
It's all about creativity and productivity in a supportive environment!
Any questions, just reach out to our organizers through Meetup.

December Book Club/White Elephant Book Exchange
Welcome, readers! ❄️
Our December read is **_A Quiet Life by Ethan Joella._**
A Quiet Life by Ethan Joella is a tender, character-driven novel that follows three people in a small Pennsylvania town as they each cope with loss and seek connection. Chuck, a widower, struggles to find meaning after his wife’s death; Ella, a young woman, faces the heartbreak of her missing daughter; and Kirsten, a veterinary technician, grieves her father while contemplating her future. Their stories intertwine gently, revealing how grief and hope coexist—and how even small acts of kindness can help people rediscover purpose and peace in the aftermath of tragedy.
Looking forward to discussing with everyone!
At this meeting, our third annual White Elephant book exchange will take place!
If you'd like to participate, bring a gift-wrapped book that you already own. On the gift wrap, write the genre of the book.
We will meet at Zaftig Brewing Co in their event room in the back. We are welcome to bring in our own food, but **drinks must be purchased at the bar.**
Happy reading! 📖
Bad Girls Book Club January 2026
**Our January novel is: Once Upon a Wardrobe by Patti Callahan**
**This month's featured novel is a 20th-century biographical fiction, coming-of-age, historical romance, women’s fiction, world literature, student biography, heartfelt, magic, and feel-good novel. The book is 311 pages in print and 7 hours and 8 minutes on audiobook.**
1950: Margaret Devonshire (Megs) is a seventeen-year-old student of mathematics and physics at Oxford University. When her beloved eight-year-old brother asks Megs if Narnia is real, logical Megs tells him it's just a book for children, and certainly not true. Homebound due to his illness, and remaining fixated on his favorite books, George presses her to ask the author of the recently released novel The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe a question: "Where did Narnia come from?"
Despite her fear about approaching the famous author, who is a professor at her school, Megs soon finds herself taking tea with C. S. Lewis and his own brother Warnie, begging them for answers.
Rather than directly telling her where Narnia came from, Lewis encourages Megs to form her own conclusion as he shares the little-known stories from his own life that led to his inspiration. As she takes these stories home to George, the little boy travels farther in his imagination than he ever could in real life.
After holding so tightly to logic and reason, her brother's request leads Megs to absorb a more profound truth: "The way stories change us can't be explained. It can only be felt. Like love."
The Matzah Ball by Jean Meltzer
I don't usually pick romance but I really wanted to do a Hanukkah book. It's a bit on the longer side but hopefully a quick read. The library only has 5 audiobooks so please try to remember to "release it" when you're done.

Book summary:
Rachel Rubenstein-Goldblatt is a nice Jewish girl with a shameful secret: she loves Christmas. For a decade she’s hidden her career as a Christmas romance novelist from her family. Her talent has made her a bestseller even as her chronic illness has always kept the kind of love she writes about out of reach.
But when her diversity-conscious publisher insists she write a Hanukkah romance, her well of inspiration suddenly runs dry. Hanukkah’s not magical. It’s not merry. It’s not *Christmas*. Desperate not to lose her contract, Rachel’s determined to find her muse at the Matzah Ball, a Jewish music celebration on the last night of Hanukkah, even if it means working with her summer camp archenemy—Jacob Greenberg.
Though Rachel and Jacob haven’t seen each other since they were kids, their grudge still glows brighter than a menorah. But as they spend more time together, Rachel finds herself drawn to Hanukkah—and Jacob—in a way she never expected. Maybe this holiday of lights will be the spark she needed to set her heart ablaze.
