Book Discussion (April 2026): Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi
**Fee: free, but it'd be appreciated if you could order at least a drink.**
Join us for an engaging discussion of *Persepolis,* by Marjane Satrapi, 2000 to 2003. Our book club gatherings are intimate, with a maximum of 15 participants, to ensure everyone has a chance to share their thoughts and the conversation stays on track.
**Important details:**
* By signing up, you’re committing to attend—please don’t register ‘just in case.’ Confirmation will also be required one week before the event. ❗**If you do not confirm, your spot will be offered to someone on the waiting list**. If you cannot attend, let us know in advance so we can offer your spot to someone else.
* **⚠️ No-shows or last-minute cancellations without a valid reason will result in a temporary ban from the next meeting(s). Please be fair to others—signing up is a commitment, and skipping your spot takes away someone else’s chance to join.**
* If the event is full, sign up for the waiting list – as soon as a space opens, you’ll be moved to the attendance list. If you don’t get a spot, no worries! The conversation will continue on our **[website](https://feminismbetweenthelines.com/book-of-the-month-2/)**, so you can still participate online.
* Please read the book beforehand and come ready to listen, engage, and share your insights.
* Send your discussion questions, prompts, or insights to the host in advance. These contributions will be used to create the discussion script.
* **Attendance is free, but since we’ll be using a room at the bar, it would be appreciated if everyone could at least order a drink.**
Looking forward to sharing ideas, insights, and a great time together!

* A small traditional snack during the walk
* A relaxed, small-group experience
* Hosted in English by a local, with everyone free to speak any language

Nature Journaling @ Orto Botanico - Botanical Gardens
Save the date for this Nature Journaling event at the Botanical Gardens of Rome!
(italian version below)
Join us for an immersive Nature Journaling experience at the botanical garden, where art, science, and relaxation meet in a green and regenerating environment. During the event, we'll begin with a moment of mindful observation through drawing: we'll stroll among plants and flowers to slow down and connect with nature. A session suitable for everyone, even those with no experience: you'll learn to capture the shapes, details, and colors of plants through free and creative sketches. Alongside the artistic practice, there will be a brief botanical explanation that will guide you through the characteristics of the observed species: flower structure, plants, adaptations, and scientific curiosities explained in a simple and engaging way. We'll conclude the experience with a painting and origami activity inspired by the Japanese garden and cherry blossoms, where we'll transform paper into flowers and create Japanese-style postcards. A chance to slow down, learn, and be inspired by the beauty of the natural world.
MATERIALS: All included EXCEPT the basic notebook.
Workshop price: 15 (DISCOUNTED price - entrance ticket to Botanical Gardens not included)
---

Bad Girls Book Club April 2026
**Our April novel is: *The Hong Kong Widow* by Kristen Loesch**
**This month’s novel blends gothic atmosphere with historical fiction and chilling horror, set against the haunting backdrop of China. The book is 368 pages in print and 10 hours and 42 minutes on audiobook.**
In 1950s Hong Kong, Mei is a young refugee of the Chinese Communist revolution struggling to put her past in Shanghai behind her. When she receives a shocking invitation—to take part in a competition in one of the city's most notorious haunted houses, pitting six spirit mediums against one another in a series of six séances over six nights, until a single winner emerges—she has every reason to refuse.
Except that the hostess, a former Shanghainese silent film star, is none other than the wife of the man who once destroyed Mei’s entire life.
It is promised the winner will receive a fortune, but there is only one prize Mei wants: revenge.
Decades later, the final night of that competition has become an infamous urban legend: The police were called to the scene of a brutal massacre but found no evidence, dismissing it as a collective hallucination. Mei knows what she saw, but now someone else is convinced they know what she did. She must uncover the truth about the last night she ever spent in that house—even if the ghosts of her past are waiting for her there. . . .

April Book Club Meetup
Welcome, readers!
Our April read is **_Martyr!_ by Kaveh Akbar.**
The story follows a young Iranian American poet grappling with grief, addiction, and the aching question of what makes a life meaningful. Drawn into an unexpected friendship with a terminally ill artist, he begins to confront faith, love, and the seduction of self-destruction. Lyrical, darkly funny, and emotionally piercing, the novel wrestles with beauty and despair in equal measure. It’s a story about longing—to be seen, to be forgiven, and to matter.
Looking forward to discussing with everyone!
We will meet at Zaftig Brewing Co in their event room in the back. We are welcome to bring in our own food, but **drinks must be purchased at the bar.**
Happy reading! 📖
Book Bedazzling (BYOB) - Bloodguard by Cecy Robson
Let's bedazzle some books while we discuss our April pick: Bloodguard by Cecy Robson!
Book description:
One hundred years. Tens of thousands of gladiators. And today, only one will rise…
Everything in the Kingdom of Arrow is a lie.
Leith of Grey thought coming to this new land and volunteering to fight in the gladiator arena—vicious, bloodthirsty tournaments where only the strongest survive—would earn him enough gold to save his dying sister. He thought there was nothing left to lose.
He was wrong—and they took everything. His hope. His freedom. His very humanity.
All Leith has left is his battle-scarred body, fueled by rage and hardened from years of fighting for the right to live another day.
Then Leith meets Maeve, an elven royal who is everything he despises. Everything he should hate. Until the alluring princess offers him the one thing he needs most: a chance to win the coveted title of Bloodguard—and his freedom.
But in a kingdom built on secrets and lies, hope doesn’t come cheap.
Nor will his ultimate revenge…
Event:
Please bring your own book, journal, bookmarks, etc to bedazzle. If you have bedazzling supplies, please bring them as well. I will supply gems, glue, and picker tools, but if you have certain colors in mind, you may want to bring your own.
