@ Anna Blume - A cozy book swap and chat meetup!
@ Anna Blume - A cozy book swap and chat meetup!
The "classical" bookswap is simple: * We meet in a café and put the book(s) we brought down on the tables. * We browse and discuss the books with one another while sipping coffee or hot chocolate, or eating cake. * We write our names down on any books we’d like to take home (post-its and pens provided). * At the end of the evening, negotiate any books that are contended and take a new-to-you book home! Books/happiness shared are books/happiness multiplied! A Bookswap is 10 times better than a Book Club because you can talk about ALL the books instead of just one! This is a great way to give your books a new home and make room for new books: that book you feel guilty for not having read even though it's been sitting on your bedside table for the last 5 years, the book you liked but didn't love, the book you loved so much you want everyone to read it, the book you somehow own three copies of, that book you absolutely hated even though everyone else loves it, and so on. Moreover, you will meet fellow readers, get a new book or two, and several book recommendations. We’ve often had readers experience books they wouldn't normally buy and enjoy it. GROUP EXPECTATIONS for PLEASANT SWAPPING * Please bring a book! It's not that you bring one you take one, but do try your best to bring something. * Books stay on the tables, open for sharing, until you are ready to leave so that everyone can have a look. We are notably not first come first serve. Please wait until you are leaving to bag the book. * If two or more people want the only copy of a book, negotiate. Maybe one of you reads it first and then gives it to the others. Or perhaps they have found another book instead. Or leave it to fate and toss a coin. The best part: now you have found somebody whose taste you can really admire. In any case, please don't walk away with a book with several names on it without letting the others know. These negotiations are fun and easy, so don't shy away from a book because there's already a name on it, and feel free to put your name on as many books as you find interesting. It's not that you bring one you take one; you may take as many as you can negotiate. * Political discussions with consent: make sure the people you are talking to would like to have a political discussion with you. * Please respect this space as first and foremost a community for connecting readers over their love of books and reading, stories, and narratives of all sorts. Please be respectful of tastes and opinions. * If something is bothering you, please reach out to the organizers, and we'll do our best to resolve it. * Lastly, don't expect your book back. It will find a new home. If you love it, let it go. Major LANGUAGES (and genres) of this meetup: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian; Fiction, Non-Fiction, Serious Reading, Light Fun, “classics", Krimis, Booker winners, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Self-Help and more. You never know who can read what languages, and there's no accounting for taste. We are a delightful and international group of readers. We look forward to swapping with you!
April 24 - Berlin AI, ML and Computer Vision Meetup
April 24 - Berlin AI, ML and Computer Vision Meetup
Join our in-person meetup on April 24th to hear talks from experts on cutting-edge topics across AI, ML, and computer vision. **[Register to reserve your seat.](https://voxel51.com/events/berlin-ai-ml-and-computer-vision-meetup-april-24-2026)** Space is limited! **Date, Time and Location** Apr 24, 2026 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM [MotionLab](https://motionlab.berlin/) Bouchéstraße 12/Halle 20 12435 Berlin **Kaputt: A Large-Scale Dataset for Visual Defect Detection** We present a novel large-scale dataset for defect detection in a logistics setting. Recent work on industrial anomaly detection has primarily focused on manufacturing scenarios with highly controlled poses and a limited number of object categories. Existing benchmarks like MVTec-AD (Bergmann et al., 2021) and VisA (Zou et al., 2022) have reached saturation, with state-of-the-art methods achieving up to 99.9% AUROC scores. In contrast to manufacturing, anomaly detection in retail logistics faces new challenges, particularly in the diversity and variability of object pose and appearance. Leading anomaly detection methods fall short when applied to this new setting. To bridge this gap, we introduce a new benchmark that overcomes the current limitations of existing datasets. With over 230,000 images (and more than 29,000 defective instances), it is 40 times larger than MVTec and contains more than 48,000 distinct objects. To validate the difficulty of the problem, we conduct an extensive evaluation of multiple state-of-the-art anomaly detection methods, demonstrating that they do not surpass 56.96% AUROC on our dataset. Further qualitative analysis confirms that existing methods struggle to leverage normal samples under heavy pose and appearance variation. With our large-scale dataset, we set a new benchmark and encourage future research towards solving this challenging problem in retail logistics anomaly detection. The dataset is available for download under [https://www.kaputt-dataset.com](https://www.kaputt-dataset.com). *About the Speaker* [Sebastian Höfer](https://www.linkedin.com/in/sebastian-h%C3%B6fer-891178121/) is an Applied Science Manager at Amazon Fulfillment Technologies & Robotics, leading machine learning and computer vision research for large-scale robotics and warehouse automation. He received his PhD from the Robotics & Biology Lab at TU Berlin, focusing on Sim2Real transfer and robotic perception. His recent work, “Kaputt: A Large-Scale Dataset for Visual Defect Detection” (ICCV 2025) [37], established a major benchmark for industrial anomaly detection, reflecting his expertise at the intersection of academic research and real-world deployment. **Data Foundations for Vision-Language-Action Models** Model architectures get the papers, but data decides whether robots actually work. This talk introduces VLAs from a data-centric perspective: what makes robot datasets fundamentally different from image classification or video understanding, how the field is organizing its data (Open X-Embodiment, LeRobot, RLDS), and what evaluation benchmarks actually measure. We'll examine the unique challenges such as temporal structure, proprioceptive signals, and heterogeneity in embodiment, and discuss why addressing them matters more than the next architectural innovation. *About the Speaker* [Harpreet Sahota](https://www.linkedin.com/in/harpreetsahota204/) is a hacker-in-residence and machine learning engineer with a passion for deep learning and generative AI. He’s got a deep interest in VLMs, Visual Agents, Document AI, and Physical AI. **Most AI Agents Are Broken. Let’s Fix That** AI agents are having a moment, but most of them are little more than fragile prototypes that break under pressure. Together, we’ll explore why so many agentic systems fail in practice, and how to fix that with real engineering principles. In this talk, you’ll learn how to build agents that are modular, observable, and ready for production. If you’re tired of shiny agent demos that don't deliver, this talk is your blueprint for building agents that actually work. *About the Speaker* [Bilge Yücel](https://www.linkedin.com/in/bilge-yucel/) is a Senior Developer Relations Engineer at deepset, helping developers build agentic AI apps with Haystack. Passionate about AI, she makes complex concepts approachable through hands-on tutorials, both online and at real-life events. **Operationalizing Computer Vision for Overhead Lines: Beyond the Demo** At first glance, visual inspection of high-voltage power lines seems straightforward: collect imagery, run one or two AI models, and report the findings. In practice, moving beyond a proof of concept reveals a range of issues that can make or break a campaign. Common concerns include data quality and coverage, scarcity of the most relevant cases and abundance everywhere else, variations in pylon geometry and asset types across regions, calibration and GIS alignment challenges, and a long tail of edge cases that emerge in real-world operations. This talk introduces Siemens Energy’s end-to-end overhead line inspection solution and shares key learnings from inspecting more than 10,000 km of power lines for real customers across several continents. We will show how raw 2D/3D data is transformed into structured information, delivering insights into asset inventory as well as defects, and supporting maintenance and planning decisions for critical infrastructure. The focus is on the combination of algorithmic building blocks and scalable processing, designed for robustness and consistency at scale, where even low error rates can become operationally significant. *About the Speaker* [Stefan Wakolbinger](https://www.linkedin.com/in/stefan-wakolbinger-aa0ba874/) is the Development Team Lead for AI & Analytics at SIEAERO, Siemens Energy's digital powerline inspection service. He leads the development of cutting-edge AI and analytics solutions that transform aerial powerline inspection through multi-sensor technology. His team creates digital twins of powerline infrastructure, automates fault detection, and monitors vegetation management—making powerline inspection safer, more precise, and more efficient. Stefan has been driving innovation in this role since September 2022. **Search your video library like a database** Drop in YouTube URLs or upload files and query content four ways: exact keyword matching, semantic search across transcripts, visual scene search via SigLIP2, and LLM-generated answers that synthesise across segments. Guided exercises support emotional wellbeing, boundaries, and self-awareness. **Cuddle Puddles** are structured, guided spaces where people can experience the benefits of non-sexual touch — such as reduced stress, nervous system regulation, and a deeper sense of belonging. Touch, when consensual and caring, can support emotional resilience and mental health. This **Cuddle Puddle** is open to all genders within the LGBTQIA+ community, creating a space where diverse identities can meet beyond gendered expectations. A non-gender-restricted setting allows for broader empathy, mutual understanding, and connection, while honoring individual boundaries, choice, and safety at all times. **General Information** • This format is for all queer people (LGBTQIA+) interested in experiencing touch in a safe(r) setting. • This is a clothes-on format. • Bring a sheet and towel to cover cushions, mats, or massage tables. • This event will be in English • This event is also available at a reduced member price – but not part of the three-free-monthly-events benefit.

Moderate to high intensity football
Moderate to high intensity football
Welcome! This football session is for individuals who like playing on moderate to high intensity (run a lot and change position to give player with the ball option to pass). April Book Club Meetup
April Book Club Meetup
Welcome, readers! Our April read is **_Martyr!_ by Kaveh Akbar.** The story follows a young Iranian American poet grappling with grief, addiction, and the aching question of what makes a life meaningful. Drawn into an unexpected friendship with a terminally ill artist, he begins to confront faith, love, and the seduction of self-destruction. Lyrical, darkly funny, and emotionally piercing, the novel wrestles with beauty and despair in equal measure. It’s a story about longing—to be seen, to be forgiven, and to matter. Looking forward to discussing with everyone! We will meet at Zaftig Brewing Co in their event room in the back. We are welcome to bring in our own food, but **drinks must be purchased at the bar.** Happy reading! 📖

Free In-Person Meeting: Healing from Trauma and Past Betrayals
Free In-Person Meeting: Healing from Trauma and Past Betrayals
This is a free, in person meeting. Burdened by a stressful relationship? Unhealthy relationships can trigger feelings of anger, despair or self-doubt. They can create dwindling spirals of fights and seeking to make-up, or trying to “pin the blame” on someone or something. If you don’t find the RIGHT reasons, or select the correct sources of the problem, the problem can just get worse and worse. Whether in love or personal ties, with friends or at work, our life really IS affected by the quality of our relationships. Good ones can promote pleasure and survival while less optimum ones can lead to annoyance, anger, self-doubt, stress, or even affect our health and ability to survive well. Whether you are suffering from a divorce, or a painful break-up, don’t know who to trust (or who to CHOOSE) as a partner, friend, boss or employee - the anxiety of relationship troubles can really make a mess of things. Maybe you’ve suffered a betrayal, or are dealing with hostility or criticalness or invalidation. Dwindling relationships can involve destructive behavior, where we hurt those we love, or start succumbing to self-destructive thoughts, attitudes or behaviors that spiral out of control and affect much more than our immediate relationship. Past losses in love or life can affect how we act or react to new people and situations and hold us back from even starting to create new, possibly great relationships! How can one get back onto a saner course of action? Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life: human relationships! Break free from self imposed limitations Here we will discuss: • How to “erase” the trauma of past hurts and betrayals so that one isn’t always repeating past mistakes. • Why and how do the negative emotions of others affect you? • Why is my partner withdrawing and what can I do about it? • Why do we sometimes feel compelled to hurt the ones we love? • Fights & arguments - what's really behind them? • What underlies “corrosive criticism” or the need to invalidate self or others? • How one can stably change one’s outlook on life so they can affect positive change? • Where do compulsive destructive behaviors come from and what can be done about them? • How to form closer bonds & keep growing the relationships with the people you care about? • How to enhance one’s own ability to survive and create positive healthy relationships whether in love, family & friendships or in work, business or one’s career? Relationships can be hard and life itself IS challenging. Why not arm yourself with the knowledge and breakthroughs that have been made about the mind, mental reactions & interpersonal relationships, so that one has better awareness and control over themselves and life in general. Learn where painful experiences are “stored” and how they can unknowingly affect us. You will also find out how one can “erase” those past painful experiences so that one is free to move forward without being tripped up by the past. Learn too, about what can lead some people to become “toxic” personalities and how to identify those traits in others so you won’t be tripped up trusting the wrong person. Our free Meet-ups occur in a safe environment where one can learn, without fear of judgment or criticism, and without the recommendation of harmful mental techniques or therapies, just how YOU can get yourself onto a happier & more successful path: in love & in life. We look forward to having you join us! This class is sponsored by the Dianetics & Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.

Want to Truly Heal from Emotional Trauma?
Want to Truly Heal from Emotional Trauma?
Why are we unhappy? Where does emotional pain come from? Studies show that people who suffer from long-term emotional pain have painful experiences in their lives that were never fully resolved in their mind. In other words, there were issues in the past that were not completely dealt with. This can include abuse in childhood, breakups, divorce, death of a loved one, to name a few. How do you know whether you have gotten over something painful? Here is an easy test: Do you still have attention on what had happened to you? For instance, do you still find yourself thinking about something painful that you went through? If you are, then you are not over it. In fact, in severe cases, people find themselves playing a "tape" in their mind over and over again. So how do you heal from your past? How do you stop the "tape" playing in your mind? In this meeting, you will learn a technique to help you with that. Come join us! Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there. This group is created by the Dianetics and Scientology life improvement center.
