Rave Curious? Jessica Audiffred @ Otherworld
Have you always wanted to check out a raveโ€ฆ but didnโ€™t know where to start? This is your chance. Whether you're a seasoned headbanger or completely new, weโ€™d love to have you out. On April 11, Jessica Audiffred is taking over Otherworld โ€” and this is *not* your typical venue. Itโ€™s a massive immersive art space filled with surreal rooms, hidden passages, and interactive exhibitsโ€ฆ and for this show, almost all of it is open. So youโ€™re not just going to a concert โ€” youโ€™re stepping into an environment: ๐ŸŽง A high-energy bass set that you *feel* ๐ŸŒ€ A labyrinth of trippy, explorable art spaces ๐Ÿ‘ฏโ€โ™‚๏ธ A group to go with so youโ€™re not figuring it out alone You can lose yourself in the crowd, disappear into another room, find something completely unexpected, and then come back right as the drop hits. No pressure, no โ€œright wayโ€ to do it โ€” just explore, move, and take it in at your own pace. ๐Ÿ“ Otherworld, Columbus ๐Ÿ—“ April 11 ๐Ÿ•™ Doors open at 10:15 PM (music does not start in the exhibit space until 10:30 PM.) RSVP if youโ€™re in ๐Ÿ‘‡ Thereโ€™s no cost to attend with the groupโ€”just the event ticket for Otherworld. Tickets are $40, plus some fees ๐Ÿ™„. You can use code "BassBuds" or "Bangers" for $5 off, which makes it \~$43 out the door. ๐Ÿ”— [https://otherworld.ticketspice.com/jessica-audiffred](https://otherworld.ticketspice.com/jessica-audiffred) This is being posted to Central Ohio Friends and Columbus Social Connection. Humanist Program
Humanist Program
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be. Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk. Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online Join Zoom Meeting [https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87836564953?pwd=4Mi57ElZkDIFlb1fnlNwOJ0NiOK4tP.1](https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87836564953?pwd=4Mi57ElZkDIFlb1fnlNwOJ0NiOK4tP.1) Meeting ID: 878 3656 4953 Passcode: 760812 One tap mobile +19292056099,,87836564953#,,,,\*760812# US (New York) +13017158592,,87836564953#,,,,\*760812# US (Washington DC) The formal presentation will start at noon

Contra dance with Big Scioty April 11 - Clinton Heights Lutheran church
Contra dance with Big Scioty April 11 - Clinton Heights Lutheran church
**Caller: Kim Thompson** **Band: Full Moon Country Dance Orchestra** **Clinton Heights Lutheran Church** **15 Clinton Heights Ave, Columbus, OH 43202** WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like youโ€™ve seen in period films such as โ€œPride and Prejudiceโ€, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. Thatโ€™s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like โ€œswing your partnerโ€ and โ€œdo-si-do,โ€ like youโ€™ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alรก โ€œRiverdance.โ€ Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THATโ€™s Contra Dancing! Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor. Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner. Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot. For more information contact me or check out our website: [www.bigscioty.com](http://www.bigscioty.com/) Please bring your own refillable water bottle.

Prompt vs. Paintbrush
Prompt vs. Paintbrush
AI is changing how art is made. But when does it stop being your work and start being the machineโ€™s? This month we're going to be doing a panel with with digital image, music, and written word artists, talking about at what point, while using AI in the creation process, does the work become not the artist creation? We encourage audience participation during this event that will be moderated by Chris Slee. Whether youโ€™re deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus. Speak Easy (Storytelling)
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for April is "Water" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!

Shut Up & Write!ยฎ East Side Columbus
Join us for an hour of writing! Weโ€™ve discovered that itโ€™s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if itโ€™s true for you at 7:00pm on Wednesday, April 22 at Streetlight Guild. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. **SCHEDULE:** 6:45ish - Quick introductions 7:00 - Timer starts: write for 1 hour 8:00 - The End **OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING** happens before and after the writing hour. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. **BEING LATE IS OKAY:** just show up and get settled! If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer. Happy writing & I look forward to seeing you at Streetlight Guild! **WHAT SHOULD I BRING?** Whatever you need to be able to write! You're welcome to bring earplugs/headphones if noise will bother you! **OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS:** * **RSVP:** Please RSVP by 6:00pm the evening of the meeting. This helps me know how many to expect, and if we'll need additional space! * **COVID:** While masks are not required, please be mindful of the other writers around you and their comfort levels. * **WIFI/OUTLETS:** Outlets are limited, so please ensure your devices are charged when you come! But Streetlight Guild does have free WiFi! Yay! * **PARKING:** There is free public parking at Streetlight Guild.
