Jackpot Comedy
Jackpot Comedy
**[Tickets here on Eventfrog](https://eventfrog.ch/de/p/gruppen/jackpot-comedy-7413646370706339342.html)** **Down on your luck?** Perfect. Comedy works best on people with low expectations. At **Jackpot Comedy**, comedians test brand-new jokes alongside the ones that actually work. Some hit the jackpot, some crash out spectacularly. Either way, you win, because it’s funnier when anything can happen. Expect a proper underground comedy night, close to the stage, real crowd energy, and comics who are risking their dignity for your entertainment. Hosted by **[Jack Roberts](https://www.instagram.com/jackrobertscomedy/)**, a man who has invested his long-term financial stability entirely into making strangers laugh. We’re downstairs at **Bar OTRO,** just off Langstrasse, the ideal location for high-risk decisions you’ll be glad you made the next morning. No dress code. No awkward theatre seating. Just drinks, friends, and a very high probability of laughing harder than you planned. Roll the dice. Bring someone you like. Or someone you’re unsure about, this is an excellent test. **[Tickets here on Eventfrog](https://eventfrog.ch/de/p/gruppen/jackpot-comedy-7413646370706339342.html)** **SHOW BEGINS AT 20:00 (Doors at 19:00)**
Burnout Society - Byung-Chul Han
Burnout Society - Byung-Chul Han
We live in an age of unprecedented progress. Advances in medicine, technology, education, and human rights have given us opportunities and freedoms that previous generations could not even imagine. Yet, despite these achievements, many of us feel increasingly anxious, restless, exhausted, and overwhelmed. How can a society that has gained so much leave so many feeling depleted and always lonhing for more? The philosopher Byung-Chul Han argues that this is not a contradiction, but a defining **feature** of our time. In his book *The Burnout Society*, he suggests that the crisis of modern life stems not from **oppression**, prohibition, or negativity, but from an **excess of positivity**—the constant pressure to achieve, optimize, perform, and become more. Han captures this paradox in one of his most famous observations: *"The complaint of the depressive individual, 'Nothing is possible,' can only occur in a society that thinks, 'Nothing is impossible.'"* In a world where limitless possibility has become an expectation, failure, exhaustion, and inadequacy are increasingly experienced as personal shortcomings rather than social problems. Today, we will explore Han's diagnosis of the modern condition, why burnout has become so widespread, and what his philosophy reveals about a possible way out. **Preparation:** You can get a good introduction of the topic by watchin one of the below videos: [Why We're All Burning Out: Byung-Chul](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlRlWuEyt8E) [Achievment Society - Byung-Chul Han | Philosophize This](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jm56nQ31kBk) **For Philosophical Minds Zurich theme events in general:** At our theme events, we begin with a brief topic introduction, followed by engaging discussions in small groups. It’s all about conversation, not just listening. Also, please note, we keep the atmosphere relaxed and informal—**there’s** **no pressure to speak in front of anyone**. **Important:** When you register for the event, please commit to it and don't be a NO SHOW. Presumably, when the ancient philosophers decided to go to an event, they kept to it.
We look forward to seeing you. **Payment:** You can pay at the venue (Twint/Revolut/Cash). Thus, if you want to register at Meetup just click attend - no more needed ;). We look forward to seeing you.

Welcome to the Winterthur Badminton Meetup! 🏸👊😉🍻 We’re an international group created for badminton fans in and around Winterthur. Open to Expats and Swiss folks who want to train and socialise with fellow ‘badmintonists’. Or perhaps you’d like to learn the sport and meet new people? Whether doing it for fun or fitness, the idea is to enjoy and have a great (kickass) midweek. And everyone is welcome to join us for a postgame drink or two! See yah! 😊 Important: We ask everyone to respect others who wish to play. That means dropping out if you won’t make it to the game by updating your RSVP. Keep in mind: RSVPs close at 21:00 two days before the event to give others enough time to plan. Anyone on the RSVP list who did not show up at the event is considered a "no-show". No-shows will still have to pay the shared cost of the court and shuttles. We keep track of no-shows and deprioritise them in future games. Please try your best to pay on the same day by Twint or in cash. With Twint, write in the comment the date and your name for reference. Cost will be around 12-20 CHF, depending on the amount of players joining and if we have to rent 1 or 2 courts. Note: If it's your first time joining, please send me a message for more details and to confirm your spot in the game. Otherwise, regular players will be given priority. Cheers, Elias

ZH3 Hash # 1737: Independence day: Red, White, and Booze
ZH3 Hash # 1737: Independence day: Red, White, and Booze
Join us in celebrating ’Murica in Switzerland the way the Founding Fathers almost certainly would have wanted: sweating, floating, drinking, and grilling meat. We’ll start with a short run through Zürich — because freedom isn’t free, and neither is cardio — before trading pavement for patriotism and floating down the Limmat on inflatable vessels of liberty, fueled by decidedly non-American beer. After the float, we’ll gather for circle, questionable songs, and a BBQ dedicated to the timeless American art of turning perfectly good meat into charcoal. Because if there’s one thing more American than celebrating independence, it’s exporting the celebration to a neutral country and making it everyone else’s problem. ⚠️ MANDATORY EQUIPMENT ⚠️ 🩱 A BATHING SUIT — We ARE floating down the Limmat after the run, but we're skipping the nude section of Werdinsel, so come dressed to get wet. 🛟 A FLOTATION DEVICE — Inflatable flamingo, rubber ring, pool noodle, inflatable Uncle Sam, a repurposed keg, your own sense of self-worth — whatever keeps you vaguely above water. You don't have to bring one. You can just sink. That's also an option. We'll pour one out for you at the On-On. But if you DO bring one, make it enormous and humiliating — the bigger the inflatable the more beer you receive at the circle, and that's basically the entire point of being alive. Bonus down-down to whoever brings something bald eagle themed in honor of 250 glorious years of America doing America things, even in Switzerland. Down-downs will be awarded for: arriving without a flotation device, arriving with a flotation device that is *too tasteful*, anyone who says "but the Swiss don't celebrate the 4th of July" (YOU DON'T SAY), and anyone whose inflatable sinks before the On-On. **Where**: See location. Typically within Zurich Zone 10. Look for English speakers wearing running gear. **When:** We'll meet at 1:50 pm to start at 2:00 pm. There's a charge of CHF 5 for participating, which covers all you can drink beer/cider (and non-alcoholic alternatives) plus snacks afterwards. **All Welcome:** If you are new, curious, and want to get out of the house, stretch your legs, talk shit, enjoy a drink, and hopefully a laugh, then here's what you need to know: • We are a social running/walking group, physical fitness is not required, but a sense of humour is useful. • The aim is to find the '*Beer Stop*' at the end of the '*trail*' and have fun. • 'True Trail' is typically 4-7 km. Some will go less (especially those walking or walk/running), and some over-achieving fast runners will go further. • The '*Hare*', which changes each event (along with location), cleverly lays the trail (typically with flour marks) so that everyone reaches the end at the same time. • There is always a place to deposit your bag and sometimes a place to change. • **After Trail**, we group for \~20-40 minutes for drinks, snacks, and some fun. This '*Circle*' is typically outside, so leave something warm in your bag in winter (and bring a flashlight when it's dark). If you don't want to stand around drinking afterwards, you can head home. We occasionally all go to a restaurant afterwards. **Why bother leaving your warm & dry sofa?** If you enjoy getting outside, being around people, and doing something a bit different, you will probably enjoy hashing. Exercise is important, and this is probably the least boring way to get it. 'Hashing' and the idea of some physical activity to work up a thirst, have been around for almost 90 years and there are groups (*Hashes*) in most major cities. Its humor and 'traditions' can be explored on the internet - **or you can just come along and find out.** *See you there.* We are of many nationalities, all ages, full of misfits and idiots (at least there is no one taking themselves seriously!) and always welcome newbies 'Virgin Hashers' and visitors from other groups. Get out of your head! Intro to somatic exercises
Get out of your head! Intro to somatic exercises
Are you experiencing one or some of the following? 🌿Feeling sad and low on energy 🌿Feeling overwhelmed, anxious and stressed 🌿Difficulties sleeping Try somatic exercises to get out of your head and regulate your emotions! This is not a fitness class but a mind-body practice led by a qualified somatic therapist. Bioenergetic exercises were invented in the 1950s by a psychiatrist and therapist, Alexander Lowen, who was influenced by classical psychoanalysis but felt something was missing - the body. It reacts to stress and trauma by getting tense, even painful. We feel stiff and disconnected from our feelings, even numb. Somatic exercises are simple and designed to help you understand and regulate your feelings. As a result, you can manage stress, anxiety, or depressive mood better. Join me for the next workshop of bioenergetic exercises in Zurich! We meet in a cozy studio near Triemli station. Space is limited to 7 participants. You get 1 hour of theory, plus 2 hours of gentle exercises and group discussion. Think of it as building your own mental resilience workshop to use in moments of sadness, overwhelm, or stress. Note: \- If you have a history of psychotic episodes or difficulties managing anger\, then the workshop is not appropriate for you; individual therapy is better\. \- If you take antipsychotic medication\, it's also contraindicated\. \- If you have epilepsy\, it's also not the best format for you\. \- If you are pregnant\, it's better to wait a few months after the baby comes\. \- If you are very sensitive to loud noises\, please note that people sometimes scream during these workshops to express their emotions\. \- Depression or many other mental health concerns are not contraindications\, but for the workshop setting\, you should feel stable \(with medication and/or therapy\)\. These exercises may be a good addition to talk\-only therapy\, but best to consult with your therapist or psychiatrist first\. \- If in doubt\, message me about your particular situation\. *Note about the ticket: The visible price is 62 CHF, and the final checkout price will be around 65 CHF. I have reduced the visible price, as this is the only way for me to cover the reservation fees.* The number of participants may not reflect the actual number of bookings, as the event is announced on multiple websites. First-come, first-served. Tickets are non-refundable. If you get sick and provide a doctor's attest, I can rebook you for one of the upcoming, similar workshops.
