ADMO Boulder Bridge Loop
Brisk-paced (2.5-3 mph) --approximate 5.6 mile loop starting from Pitango (1841 Columbia Rd NW) in Adams Morgan. We are going to stick to the pavement on this walk to avoid the sloppy and slippery trails. From Pitango we will walk down Calvert and drop into Rock Creek Park. After passing Pierce Mill we will walk to Boulder Bridge. We will return on Rock Creek Trail and up to Walter Pierce Park on our way back to ADMO. There will be several hills going up and down, one being pretty steep. Bring plenty of water and some snacks. Dress in layers, wear a hat and be sure to wear sturdy, comfortable footwear. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome. Brunch in ADMO after the hike is an option.
This is a joint hike between the ADMO Hiking Club and the Sierra Club. All hikers will be required to sign the Sierra Club waiver form to participate. Sierra Club Potomac Region Outings (SCPRO) appreciates a voluntary $2 per person donation to support our many volunteer-led activities. Also, you can become a Sierra Club member by clicking "join" on the Virginia Sierra Club website: [http://www.sierraclub.org/virginia](http://www.sierraclub.org/virginia)
Dupont Circle is the closest Metro stop (.6 miles). Bus routes C51, C53, D70, and D74 are all within a couple blocks of Pitango. There is metered and free street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. Please arrive early so you have enough time to find parking.

Spring into Rock Creek Park Hike
Saturday will be almost 60 degrees - the perfect weather to check out the early signs of Spring in Rock Creek Park!
The hike is mostly downhill or level except for the final segment, a climb from Beach Drive up Porter Street to Connecticut Avenue and a climb up from a small hill near Pierce Mill.
βΆ **What weβll do:**
* Departing from Cleveland Park Metro Station, on the TARGET side of Connecticut Ave NW, weβll walk north a half block and turn right onto Porter Drive and follow it east to Rock Creek. From there weβll walk north through beautiful Rock Creek Park, along Western Ridge Trail, Beach Drive, and Valley Trail to Rapids Bridge, where we'll turn around and retrace our route. In addition to the beautiful fall colors, weβll pass a couple of historic sights along our way:
* [Boulder Bridge](http://tinyurl.com/kyua6o9), one of the earliest extant bridges in Rock Creek Park. Constructed in 1902, the bridge is a Melan reinforced concrete arch bridge with a unique boulder facing that blends into the bridge's surroundings.
* [Peirce Mill](https://tinyurl.com/y9u64k6k) , built in the 1820s, was grinding wheat for local farmers until the 1890s, when the US Government purchased it as part of Rock Creek Park. Hard times have always been good news for the mill: it was renovated twice under public works projects auspices, once as part of the Public Works Administration in 1936 and more recently as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in 2011.
* The walk is 5.1 miles and should take about 2 hours. The path is fairly level except for the descent into and out of Rock Creek streambed. The surface is a mix of dirt and paved and pretty easy going throughout.
* There is an [old-style Italian deli](https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=vace%27s%20italian%20deli&tbs=lrf:!1m4!1u3!2m2!3m1!1e1!1m4!1u2!2m2!2m1!1e1!1m4!1u1!2m2!1m1!1e1!1m4!1u1!2m2!1m1!1e2!1m4!1u22!2m2!21m1!1e1!2m1!1e2!2m1!1e1!2m1!1e3!3sIAE,lf:1,lf_ui:9&tbm=lcl&rflfq=1&num=10&rldimm=10778690468746188451&lqi=ChN2YWNlJ3MgaXRhbGlhbiBkZWxpSIrbzePngICACFonEAAQARACGAAYARgCIhN2YWNlJ3MgaXRhbGlhbiBkZWxpKgQIAxACkgEEZGVsaZoBJENoZERTVWhOTUc5blMwVkpRMEZuU1VRMk9EVjFNbXBCUlJBQqoBHwoJL20vMDl5MmsyEAEqECIMaXRhbGlhbiBkZWxpKADgAQA&phdesc=clTALiFHOKU&ved=2ahUKEwiK9_Te7bv8AhUoM1kFHZdeCKYQvS56BAgLEAE&sa=X&rlst=f#rlfi=hd:;si:10778690468746188451,l,ChN2YWNlJ3MgaXRhbGlhbiBkZWxpSIrbzePngICACFonEAAQARACGAAYARgCIhN2YWNlJ3MgaXRhbGlhbiBkZWxpKgQIAxACkgEEZGVsaZoBJENoZERTVWhOTUc5blMwVkpRMEZuU1VRMk9EVjFNbXBCUlJBQqoBHwoJL20vMDl5MmsyEAEqECIMaXRhbGlhbiBkZWxpKADgAQA,y,clTALiFHOKU;mv:%5B%5B39.1842519,-77.05127639999999%5D,%5B38.9198496,-77.1609544%5D%5D;tbs:lrf:!1m4!1u3!2m2!3m1!1e1!1m4!1u2!2m2!2m1!1e1!1m4!1u1!2m2!1m1!1e1!1m4!1u1!2m2!1m1!1e2!1m4!1u22!2m2!21m1!1e1!2m1!1e2!2m1!1e1!2m1!1e3!3sIAE,lf:1,lf_ui:9) named Vace's a block from the hike start/finish point that has great pizzas by the slice.

ASL Brunch on Sundays in Greenbelt
Join our ASL Brunch on Sundays in Greenbelt! All ASL users and learners are welcome.
Brunches are alternately held at two restaurants in Greenbelt, both in the same town plaza.
ODD WEEKS: 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays, we meet at Cedars of Lebanon, 103 Centerway.
EVEN WEEKS: 2nd and 4th Sundays, we meet at New Deal CafΓ©,113 Centerway.
We are the Greenbelt ASL Community, a group of both Deaf and hearing people who hang out, chat about everyday goings on, trade stories, get to know each other better, and of course, enjoy food together. Many members use ASL as their primary language, several are interpreters or other fluent ASL users, while others are ASL learners who wish to improve their skills while making new friends.
Before or after brunch, you can visit the farmer's market and small coop grocery store in the plaza.
Please RSVP so we can contact you via email if needed.
Our group is on Facebook as Greenbelt ASL Community. Some longtime Brunch attendees don't mark their attendance here, so feel free to stop by even if you don't see others who have RSVP'd on Meet-up.
