Media Literacy and Misinformation-Braver Angels Fairfax Alliance Monthly Meeting
**Braver Angels holds workshops, debates, and public presentations designed to bridge the political divide we are experiencing in our country. We’ll hold our next meetingApril 8th at the McLean Government Center (1437 Balls Hill Road, McLean) starting at 7 PM, with doors opening at 6:30 PM.**
With Special Elections coming up in Virginia in April and Midterm Elections in November, what could be better than the topic of ***Media Literacy and Misinformation?***
At this event we will learn about and discuss -

* how to identify confirmation bias and make a distinction between journalists and content creators……and much more…….
The overall purpose is to provide tools that enable the audience to move beyond passive consumption and into active, analytical evaluation of information.

POLYGLOTS 'Language Exchange' HAPPY HOUR
Let us meet up for a language exchange. We will give out name tags. You write your name and what language you speak and what language you would like to exchange.
All languages are welcome! However we don't guarantee the availability of a partner in that particular language, you would like to exchange.
This is the biggest language exchange event in the area, attended by hundreds. MISS IT NOT!
Rules to abide :
1. Event is free and 21+ (bring ID).
2. Be respectful to your counterparts and give them a chance to exchange with others as well.
3. We all are native speakers of one or two languages and be willing to help others and try to accommodate as much as possible.
4. If you don't speak the other person's required language, LEAVE THEM ALONE.
5. Rude or aggressive members are removed from the group at an organizers discretion.
6. This is a face-to-face language exchange event. DO NOT try to arrange an online meeting, by using the comment box or direct message. You will be REMOVED!
7. Most of our members complained about people writing in the comment box. Since it sends notification to all attendees. If you have any questions, send a message to the organizers. Don't write in the comment box.
8. We have ZERO TOLERANCE for solicitation. We don't allow anyone to run their own agenda at the Event. If you are interested to promote/sponsor/collaborate; contact us via (info@merevents.com).
9. When you get there, we will greet you and take you to your respective group.
10. Don't be shy of your local languages. We have diplomates assigned to different countries, who would love to practice your languages.
METRO & PARKING INFO
Closest Metro Station is U Street Cardozo (take 13th St. Exit). Also take into consideration Metro's truck work and allow enough time for your ride. Check it on http://www.wmata.com/ and plan accordingly.
Street parking might be a challenge. However, if you plan to drive, there is a parking garage, Franklin D. Reeves Center Garage, 2000 14th Street NW, Washington DC). They are open up until 3 am and it costs $ 15 plus tax. Tel :202-265-0010.
But, the event involves drinking and we highly recommend a taxi or a shared ride service. DRINK RESPONSIBLY.

At this event you'll discover how to better understand and control your subconscious mind, helping you overcome doubts and fears. If you have anger issues, depressions and anxieties. this event will show you how to overcome them.

Wilson Bridge Trail Walk&Lunch at MGM Food Court
**Let’s get our Saturday morning started with Wilson Bridge Trail walk You can find us at Tanger Outlets and we will start walk from there. Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water to stay hydrated! The Wilson Bridge Trail is a connected pathway between Alexandria, VA and National Harbor, MD! The walk/hike is about 7 miles ROUNDTRIP and takes about a little over 2 hours to complete! We will have a quick 5 mins stretch session before starting walk.**
**We will gather for lunch at the MGM Food Court immediately following walk.**

Join us for a two mile trail hike alongside the Brookside Trail at Blendon Woods Metro Park. This trail is largely gravel and does include some hills and stairs. Hopefully we will see some wildlife while hike this scenic trail! Join us!

We walk 5 miles. You naturally drift into conversation with 2-3 people at a time, pulled by topics that spark your curiosity. When you're ready to move on, just say: "I'm going to float!"

A great topic = something you're genuinely curious about.

This isn't a fitness event with casual chitchat. It's a walking think tank where we explore life's big questions together, beyond small talk. *If you're looking for light banter or a standard networking event, this probably isn't the right fit.*
