It has many buildings including fully renovated yet historically important main red building, an old barn turned into lodging spaces and a kitchen & big space for gatherings and parties, a large terrace which can be covered for rain, an old smoke sauna turned into lodging, a sandy beach, a wood-burning sauna and a smoke sauna by a lake, a wood-burning hot tub and jacuzzi and big hangout areas & fire places by the shore, our own small island and a lot more. Leisure activities include walking on the ice, enjoying the many fire places including one on the island, enjoying snow, and sauna & jacuzzi. The property in Parkano about 11 kilometers from the city center and has 170 meters of shore line and is about 1.7 hectares in size. At our OPEN MIC STORYTELLING NIGHT performances range from stories, songs, poetry and stand up from aspiring writers, plus we always have a selection of experienced and/or established professional writer/performers to close the first and second halves of the evening for us. Screenings are in original language, if English, or original language with English subtitles. Films are selected democratically on the inspiration of a brief pre-screening discussion. The selected title is typically a "neglected gem" that most of us discover together for the first time. Individual taste is not a criterion and all participants are expected to put the interests of the group as a whole above personal preference or prejudice. In this sense, the emphasis is on openness, exploration, and surprise. Each screening is followed by an in-depth group discussion, led and mediated by the curator.
