Our musical host at Pulse & Pickle CIC for the communal dinner on Friday the 13th of February is Maria de Huelva. \-\-\-\-\-\-BIO\-\-\-\- Hailing from the village of Almonaster la Real in Andalusia’s Huelva province, María is a passionate musician and scholar deeply rooted in flamenco and Spanish folk traditions. With a degree in History (Archaeology) and a Master’s in Advanced Musical Studies (Ethnomusicology), she combines academic insight with cultural heritage. Beginning her guitar journey at age seven under John MacInnes, María went on to train in classical guitar for eight years while also mastering the three-holed pipe and tabor, traditional instruments of historic taborers. Actively performing as a guitarist, singer, and taborer, she brings spontaneity and joy to traditional celebrations across Spain and the UK. Inspired by London’s multicultural scene, she has also embraced the rubab, blending it into her repertoire with Spanish folk and flamenco \-\-\-\-ALKEMI\-\-\- Maria de Huelva presents a solo project where flamenco, folk, and fusion meet in a dynamic dialogue of cultures. Deeply connected to Spanish traditions yet shaped by academic exploration and personal storytelling, the repertoire reflects a meaningful journey through heritage and life experience. London’s vibrant multiculturalism provides an additional layer of inspiration, infusing the music with openness and innovation. The result is a powerful, evolving sound. Authentic, expressive, and contemporary, that resonates with audiences across borders. The evening’s Menu (Fully Vegan - Menu does not include Alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks that are sold separately) is inspired by Andalusian flavors and tastes. Starters Mushroom & Nuts croquettes served with Andalusian Salad. Main Spinach and Chickpeas Stew served with Marinated carrots. Dessert Spanish Pumpkin Flan. We also recognise that financial realities shape who can take part in such gatherings. To make our dinners accessible, we offer a Solidarity Sliding Scale: tickets range from £15 for those who need support, £25 at cost, and £30 or more for those able to contribute in solidarity. This approach allows people with different resources to sit at the same table and support one another’s participation. The income from each dinner goes directly toward paying fair wages to our team, supporting the artists and hosts who shape the events, and paying the local growers whose produce makes our food possible. More about the thoughts behind our communal dinners events - The Lost Art of Eating Togther If cost is a barrier to entry, please get in touch with us - contact@pulseandpickle.org Tickets available on HUMANITIX (it dedicates 100% of profits from booking fees to charity): https://events.humanitix.com/alkemi-a-dialogue-of-cultures

The Friday Lunchtime Eastside Session
The Friday Lunchtime Eastside Session
A typical Eastside session is structured, challenging, and genuinely fun, with a strong, welcoming community at its core. Every session is expertly coached, with clear guidance on exercise form and technique throughout. Coaches are active and engaged, offering encouragement and adaptations whenever needed, so everyone can train safely and confidently. No one is left behind. Sessions begin with a thorough warm up, followed by a full body workout combining strength, cardio, and functional movement. Exercises are always scalable, ensuring the right challenge for every individual. Each session includes a dedicated anaerobic block where intensity is deliberately increased and heart rate is pushed. This is where you safely push yourself, build fitness and resilience, and realise you are capable of more than you thought. We finish with a short cool down and stretch, with time to ask questions and connect with the group. You will work hard, feel supported, and leave every session feeling stronger, energised, and part of a tight knit community. Here’s a [link to our FAQ’s](https://www.eastside.fit/bootcamp-faqs)

Central London Open Group for all genders
We welcome people of all genders to simply sit together in a **safe,** **confidential space, so we can share any aspect of our lives,** including our relationships, work, purpose, sense of safety, health and hormones. All emotions are welcome here, from the highs to the lows and everything in-between. We can **hang out, be heard and get real about life, learning from one another's experiences**, noticing, acknowledging and celebrating what's good, gaining inspiration to change what's not, and simply accepting 'what is'. We **support one another to be better, more authentic people,** without telling each other what to do or how to be. There is no pressure and it’s **fine to say "Pass”** when it’s your turn to speak. We are **accepting, accountable and we want more** out of life. We're not pushy, on power trips or on a coaching frenzy. This is a gentle space for goodness to emerge and emotions to be safely sat with. We **explore who we are, who we no longer need to be,** and how we can lead better, fuller lives. We'll be following Kenny's group [Ground Rules - please check them out before you attend](https://sites.google.com/menspeak.co.uk/info/ground-rules?authuser=1) and suggest any changes you might need before we begin. TIME: 10:15am for a **10:30am start**, ends 1:00pm. Backgammon Social with Drinks n Dinner Sun 15 February 3pm at Great Scot' Yard
Backgammon Social with Drinks n Dinner Sun 15 February 3pm at Great Scot' Yard
Venue: Civil Service Club Date/Time: Sunday 15 February, 3-8pm and possibly beyond! First timers - please kindly read below about bringing your board, meetup fee, purchasing drinks and food, Etiquette etc Dear Backgammon Lovers, A warm and grateful thanks to Lydia for hosting backgammon at the Gest Restaurant on Sunday. Social Backgammon Whether you're a seasoned backgammoner or a newbie looking to learn this fabulous game, our social event is open to all. This is also the perfect chance to sharpen your game, and share a laugh (or a lucky double six!) over backgammon. Add in a drink, maybe dinner, and you’ve got the recipe for a fun and relaxed evening. Venue Food and Drink Just a little reminder that when we use the Civil Service Club, we’re asked to buy at least one drink whilst we’re there! The Club also has a nice range of food and snacks on offer, all at really good prices, so it’s a great chance to relax and make the most of the day. About our backgammon social group Our group has been running for 10 years since June 2015 and we have held over 450 official backgammon meetings - along with a further 200 off-grid (non meetups) since then. We are the largest backgammon group in the UK with just over 2,000 backgammon members. What makes our group special are its members and the warmth, humour and friendliness whilst playing this splendid social game over a few drinks... usually fortnightly, and on a Sunday. We have about 30-odd regular members who play socially and we very much welcome new players too - so do come along. Dinner Time and Drinks and Food In between the rounds of backgammon many of us sit for a meal around 6pm, but you can order drinks and food whenever you like. RSVP Please RSVP asap - . Often I need to provide the Club with an indication of numbers. Bring your own Backgammon Board - no problem if initially you don't have one. Love seeing the different styles and size of boards - my boards have somehow gotten larger over the years. Please bring your own backgammon board and should you not have one please let us know in advance via the Meetup message board so that others can make the effort to bring theirs. Meetup Fee I will ask for £4 as the meetup fees etc have increased substantially over the past year or two. This also assists paying other admin costs including Club membership and tips. Other Games We sometimes play other games in the evening such as Rummikub, Yahtzee, and a type of Gin Rummy... so ask and watch this space! Etiquette Just a quick reminder- it’s always nice to say thank you to the staff at the CSC when you can. Let’s also keep things warm and friendly with each other and enjoy the game. If anything comes up, please feel free to have a word with me or whoever is hosting that day. Backgammon Rules With one or two exceptions our group plays international backgammon tournament rules. I have outlined these rules on our meetup page. My Contact Should you get lost or need to get in touch my number is: 07956 263451. Would advise you not to post messages two hours before the meetup commences as there's often chance I will not see it. Best wishes again to all you Backgammoners for 2026! Chris Sattaur
