Transcendent kingdom by Yaa Gyasi
Transcendent kingdom by Yaa Gyasi
The novel of the Ghanaian writer Yaa Gyasi tells the story of Gifty, a fifth-year candidate in neuroscience at Stanford School of Medicine. Her brother, Nana, was a gifted high school athlete who died of a heroin overdose and her suicidal mother is living in her bed. Gifty is determined to discover the scientific basis for the suffering she sees all around her. But as she turns to science to unravel the mystery, her past resurfaces, particularly the evangelical church in which she was raised. The novel questions religion and science in the face of familial loss and addiction. It portrays also the struggle of a family of Ghanaian immigrants. YAA GYASI was born in Ghana and raised in Huntsville, Alabama. At the age of 26, she won several prizes for her debut novel and best seller « Homegoing ». Among these prizes: the National Book Critics Circle's John Leonard Award for Best First Book and the PEN/Hemingway Award for Debut Novel.
Gentle Deep Conversations & Drinks: On Growth & Connection
Gentle Deep Conversations & Drinks: On Growth & Connection
Let’s meet on the last day of February for a gentle, warm, and slightly unpredictable afternoon together. This meetup is for people who enjoy meaningful conversations, emotional awareness, and authentic exchanges, the kind that leave you feeling both lighter and more alive. 🌟 What to expect A small circle of open-minded humans, with tea, coffee, or food in hand, sharing self-reflection, philosophy, psychology or simply ideas and inspirations that arise naturally in the moment. There is no fixed topic. The conversation flows on its own.🪄 To give you a sense, here are some topics that emerged last time: - If you have lived in different places and cultures for many years, can you still define your origin as where you were born? - How to find peace and calm (inspired by Indian philosophy). - If someone behaves differently from most people in a system, are they wrong? (I’ve shared my perspective on this topic [[click here](https://www.instagram.com/p/DTqk5t6Avy_/?igsh=MXBhemd5ZTE1dnFzcQ==) ], feel free to add your own in comments 💬. ) - Where would you like to spend your retirement, and why? - How to position yourself as an expat in a country like Luxembourg. - Cultural differences around complaining: in some cultures it’s negative, in others it’s seen as necessary for change. - Human energy, presence, and “frequency” — and how we influence it. - … and more. 📌 Practical details 📍 Venue: Bouneweger Stuff 📅 Date: Saturday, February 28, 2026 🕒 Time: 15:00 – 17:00 👥 Group size: 12 people ☕ Food & drinks: Everyone orders and pays individually (If you can’t attend, please cancel so someone else can take the spot.) If you enjoy authentic connection, gentle humour, openness to different perspectives, and conversations that have a life of their own - you are very welcome to join. ✨
Knit & Sip 2 - Beanie
Knit & Sip 2 - Beanie
Following the mittens we will complement it with a beanie that is easy to make. As usual we will complement it with a glass of wine with cheese or tea/coffee with cookies... You can either use your own materials or get them on the day for an additional cost of 15eur (yarn and circular needle). To verify attendance and cover the basic costs a charge of 3EUR will apply irrespective of whether you bring your own materials or not. First 30 minutes we will test the waters on how to nail the pattern down. For 2hr we will knit away with sipping/munching breaks sprinkled in between : ) If your project is not finished on time, no worries! We can help each other through WhatsApp or simply come to the next sync. Join the WhatsApp group to share your projects and ask your questions, highlight your recommendations such as alternative fun patterns you want to try out: https://chat.whatsapp.com/K2lw4iQE5dgBVFo82Oib7z

Bonnevoie - Reloaded (13km) - NO LOOP
Bonnevoie - Reloaded (13km) - NO LOOP
Hello, Same procedure as last year, we'll do my home trail. It will be familiar to you. Or not? We start Rotondes, walk down to Grund, pass by the Romanian embassy to enter the Bonnevoie circular walk. So far so familiar. After following the path for a while, we will see those steep stairs across the street. But no worries. Seeing is not climbing up. We deviate here from the circular walk, even skipping our picnic place from last year. Instead we are going to head towards Kaltreis Parc for the break. There are tables and benches used for kid's birthdays etc. Less likely to crash someone's date. I still feel sorry for the guy from last year. After lunch, back to the forest. We'll pass a senior residence and go to a tram stop. As reminder, the trail includes plenty of forest paths. It's not a city walk. Start: Rotondes near the station Destination: Tram stop "Lycée Bonnevoie" Those interested can easily walk back from the tram stop to the starting point. Just let me know and I'll show the way. Public transport: Various options of bus, train and tram Parking: near station or Cactus Bonnevoie Hope to see many of you on Sunday! Jörg Disclaimer: The hike is at your own risk. Know your limits. Come prepared (water, food, shoes...). Don't hesitate to ask any questions.

Ai & Coffee -AI conversations in-person
**⚡ AI & Coffee – In-Person Meetup in Luxembourg** We’re hosting the next event on Sunday 8th March from 15h00-17h00 in Updown Bar (Downstairs) Based on the great feedback last time, feel free to bring your laptops if you’d like to show your work. People were very open to sharing approaches and projects, which sparked some truly deep conversations. Looking forward to meeting you all again, and also welcoming those who couldn’t make it last time. AI is moving so fast that it’s hard to keep up alone. The best way to make sense of it is by meeting others, exchanging ideas, and hearing fresh perspectives. That’s what this meetup is about. ☕ We’ll gather in a local café for open conversations about: * AI news and trends (what’s real, what’s hype) * Sharing projects, ideas, and feedback * Supporting each other and creating new stories * Building connections with like-minded people 👥 **Who’s welcome?** Developers, entrepreneurs, investors, mentors, students, researchers, creatives — and anyone simply curious about AI. 💡 **What to expect** * Casual atmosphere, no commitment, no pressure * The host will share small icebreakers and sparks of AI news * The rest is up to you: meet, talk, connect, and exchange 🎉 The only cost is your own coffee or drink. CBusData - Discover the Power of Window Functions
CBusData - Discover the Power of Window Functions
Window functions have nothing to do with the Windows operating system but provide a “window” to a result set when used in SQL queries. They are powerful, set-based methods to view data in unexpected ways. Window functions provide easy, set-based solutions to solve some common problems: * Using running totals * Performing operations in intervals * Identifying data gaps and islands * Performing aggregates without losing detail Many people are confused by window functions and do not know how to use them properly. This session will explore window functions, how they work, and how to use them. Demonstrations with several examples will solidify how window functions can simplify queries and make them more powerful.

Data & Analytics Wednesday - Google Analytics Alternatives
Data & Analytics Wednesday - Google Analytics Alternatives
**Google Analytics Alternatives** Is it finally time to make the switch away from Google Analytics? Two-and-a-half years ago Jason Packer asked this question at Columbus Web Analytics Wednesday. Since then: Google’s Universal Analytics has been sunset, we’ve changed our name to Columbus Data & Analytics Wednesday, and Jason has released two editions of his book “Google Analytics Alternatives”. Fresh off the release of the 2nd edition of his book, we thought it was time to re-open this conversation. While people love to complain about it, GA’s market share has remained relatively constant (at least in the United States). Why is that? You won’t find any complaints about GA4 in this talk, but rather an overview of what’s currently available in the market and how to frame your decision-making process. We’ll also be giving out some free copies of Jason’s book! So even if you’ve got a “GA4Lyfe” tattoo (no judgement), there’s free books to go with the free pizza and beer.
