Join us for a **Cocktails & Collage** a seasonal gathering that celebrates Danish *hygge* through drinks and imaginative art-making. Set in a contemporary art gallery turned into a creative studio for the night, you’ll begin with a delicious cocktail or a glass of wine and even alcohol-free option will be available. Once you test our cocktails you can settle into a candlelit workspace stocked with vintage magazines, colorful papers, fabrics, and other tactile treasures. A collage artist will guide the group through a meditative cut-and-paste flow where you’ll create a visual piece rooted in seasonal themes like winter coziness, Copenhagen memories, or dream landscapes. Whether you come with friends or on your own, this cozy and creative evening will leave you inspired, relaxed, and ready for winter. Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at our Copenhagen Shut Up & Write! sessions. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, résumé, melody, poem, or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: - 15 minutes of hellos and getting settled; maybe some quick intros. - Then, the timer starts! : writing for 1 hour. - After the hour is up... chat / take off / keep writing, if you're on a roll. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens once the hour of writing is complete. Writing can be very solitary... connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. It's best to be on time, but BEING LATE IS ALSO OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check in with us after the session. (We’ll be the ones with the small Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer. What Should I Bring? Whatever you need to be able to write! Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafe’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons.

What about starting the weekend relaxed with a coffee and meeting other photographers? Everyone is invited to pass by, meet other members, exchange ideas and expand your network. This month we will be discussing **Frank Santoro**, an American cartoonist, painter, and comics critic known for his expressive lines, experimental page layouts, and vibrant use of color. His graphic novels—including *Storeyville*, *Pompeii*, and *Pittsburgh*—blend personal storytelling with innovative visual structure, often exploring memory, place, and relationships. In addition to his comics, Santoro has been an influential voice in comics education and criticism, co-founding the magazine *ComicsComics* and creating the **Santoro Correspondence Course for Comic Book Makers**, which has helped train and inspire a new generation of cartoonists. Afterwards, we will have time to work on our individual art projects, hang out, and if anyone is interested in feedback on their work, there will be time for that as well.

The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. The topic for April is "Water" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome.
