Christmas Fast Friending ā Unwrap New Friendships (21-35/Drink Offer)
The festive season is here ā lights are twinkling, calendars are filling, and yet, for many of us, this time can also feel unexpectedly quiet. If you've been craving real conversations, meaningful connections, or simply a warm space to unwind, weād love to welcome you in.
Join us for a special Christmas Fast Friending evening - Itās relaxed, fun, and designed to help you meet wonderful new people without any of the awkwardness. Come share the festive cheer, feel the warmth of new friendships, and step into the season with a fuller heart.
**You will need to buy a ticket for attending -**
[https://lux20thdec.eventbrite.co.uk](https://lux20thdec.eventbrite.co.uk)
\*You can use any debit or credit card to purchase your ticket at PayPal checkout. It will ask you for your email address but that is only to send you a receipt. You do not need a PayPal account.
TICKETS:-
Early Bird - ā¬5 / person
Regular Ticket - ā¬10 / person
Cash at meetup: If you do not purchase a ticket in advance then you can pay Shye cash of ā¬15 when you attend.
**Hereās how our Fast Friending works:-**
\- We will meet at 7\.00 and have time to get settle down and get a drink\.
\- From about 7\.30 to 8\.30 we will run the fast friending system\. Half of the group \(mixed gender\) will stay in a fixed place and the other half of the group \(mixed gender\) will be asked to rotate\. During these intervals\, each pair of people will get the opportunity to talk to each other\.
\- Shye will be hosting the evening and she will organize the fast friending process\. She will indicate when you should move to the next person\.
\- From 8\.30 onwards we will stop the system and people will have to chance go chat and interact with those they have met as well as others\.
If you are a bit shy or anxious then please come early. Shye will help you meet other members in a small group and help you settle down and get comfortable. All attendees are also welcome to bring a lady friend along with them for free. This will make it a lot less stressful for you as you will always have your friend alongside.
\- We are not a close knit tight group\. Our evenings are warm and comfortable for members attending for the first time and those coming alone\. You will not feel alone\!
\- We have many groups in this city\. Members of our other groups who RSVP are included as guests of the organisers in order to give you an indication of expected people\.
\- This evening is for ladies and gents in the 25 to 45 age group\. While some will be at the younger end of this range there will also be others at the other end of the range and lots in\-between\! You will naturally gel with others of your own age range and so you will always find many attendees who fit your range\.
\- We are not a dating group\. Our events are not organised to manage your dating life\. Our group is created to help ladies and gents meet other like minded ladies and gents\. Please do not attend our event if a perfect gender balance is important for your enjoyment of our meet\-up\.
Why do we have tickets?
1. Cover our costs - Our host is compensated for their time and work. We also pay meetup and have dedicated staff to manage our events, hosts, venues and communication.
2. Group Safety - By securing your ticket we have a record and you contribute to a well organized evening where everyone is more committed and better behaved.
3. Management - Tickets help us better manage attendee group size, book suitable space and activity.

Language Exchange at the Big Beer Company (Clausen)
This is a language exchange event for those who want to learn or practice French, German, English, Luxembourgish or any other language you find an interlocutor for. Especially in Luxembourg, speaking multiple languages is an essential skill. The journey of learning a language is a discovery road in which it is great to meet advantaged/native speakers and language learners with who you can practice your listening and speaking skills. All levels are welcome, and youāre also welcome for a drink and a chat of course.
!!! AfterExchange-Apero !!! Speaking a new language can be hard, so most weeks the attendees end up going to another bar afterwards to have a beer and a bite to unwind. Follow one of the organizers, to the "hottest bars in town". ;)
Ā· Please sit with a group of your preferred language exchange, you will recognize them by the language signs/windchimes
Ā· By arriving to this event you agree that the organizers cannot be held liable in case any of the participants violate the current regulations
Ā· Feel free to post a message in the group if you are looking for an interlocutor for a language other than French, English or German. (Most of the times we also have Luxembourgish).
See you Saturday!

Humanist Program
Our January program is privileged to have Kristen Tregar as our speaker. Ms. Tregar is the co-author with John de Lancie (the actor who portrayed the character Q on Star Trek next generation) of a radio play depicting the events surrounding the Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District trial. The trial decided the issue of some of the Dover school district board members attempting to insert creationism disguised as "intelligent design" into the 9th grade biology curriculum. She will discuss the trial and the process of writing the play. (Bob Leonhard has seen the play and it is riveting and tense). Ms. Tregar's bio is below:
Kristen Tregar is a dramaturg, director, playwright, and theatre teacher. She earned her Ph.D. in Drama and Theatre from the UC San Diego and UC Irvine joint program. In addition, she has a MS in Forensic Science from City University of New York- John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a MA in Educational Theatre from New York University- Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. In 2013, in collaboration with Irish colleagues, she founded *The Ireland Project*, an intercontinental devised theatre work with high school students in New York and Tallaght, Ireland. Her original short story "Far From Here" was recently published in *Stay Awhile Longer: More Scenes From Temecula Valley*. She has two rescued dogs (Kira and Harry) and she rides, competes, and foxhunts with her horses, Andromache and Baker Street Irregular.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online

Shut Up & Write!Ā® Easton Town Center
We'll meet at The Capital One CafƩ, 167 Easton Town Center, Space A-103. This is in the main mall where the Microsoft store used to be, on your left if you're standing at the bottom of the AMC Theater escalator.
Join us on Sunday for an hour of uninterrupted wordmaking!
⢠What we'll do
Join us for an hour of writing! Weāve discovered that itās strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if itās true for you at noon on Sundays.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
SCHEDULE:
12:00 - quick intros.
12:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour.
1:10 - chat / take off / keep writing.
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 1-1:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.
Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you!
⢠What to bring
Whatever you need to be able to write!
Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block noise or the occasional conversation by other patrons. Electrical outlets are limited, so charge your devices before whenever possible.
See you at The CafƩ on Sunday!
