Shut Up & Write!® in Washington DC
Shut Up & Write!® in Washington DC
I try to arrive by 6:45! Arrive before me? There will be a reservation under Connor L. You can either ask the host in Sonny's or look for the silver table tent with my name written in green tape. -- Join us for some focused writing time. All writers and all experience levels are welcome and don’t worry, no one will see what you've written. This session is about getting your writing done and meeting other writers in your area. Bring your writing materials (such as a notebook or a charged laptop - outlets are limited.) And if you'd like to tune out other patrons at Sonny's or any overhead music, we recommend bringing headphones or earplugs. -- BEING LATE IS OKAY: Just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer. Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you! When you show up, I will be sitting at a table with folded "Shut Up & Write" table cards. Say hello to everyone, grab a drink, and get your writing tools ready. Once you’re all settled, take some time to chat with your fellow writers. Once everyone’s arrived, I will lead quick introductions and then set the timer for our quiet and focused writing session. Afterward, we’ll have time to chat and get to know each other. We often talk about our successes and challenges as writers. If you don’t have time to stick around, no worries! -- **A note about the format** We don’t host critiques or readings. These events are a safe space for writers of all skill levels and genres to work on their craft, so no one will read or critique your writing. · Gold Diggers of 1935 · by Busby Berkeley @ Mary Riley Styles Library
· Gold Diggers of 1935 · by Busby Berkeley @ Mary Riley Styles Library
*Gold Diggers of 1935* isn’t, as the title may imply, a story about women chasing after wealthy men. No, it’s about everyone trying to squeeze some money out of everybody else, with the only exception being a pair of young lovers. As a posh summer resort prepares to open, the manager summons the staff to a meeting where he explains how he’ll be cheating all his employees. The department heads hold smaller meetings to give their workers the lowdown on how they’ll all surrender part of their earnings. When the guests arrive, they start trying to scam each other in a wacky series of misadventures. It’s entertaining chaos, and of course, as in all Busby Berkeley movies, there’s a show to be produced. This one is a charity fundraiser, and while there’s some disagreement about how the proceeds will be distributed, the show itself contains one of the choreographer’s most celebrated sequences, “Lullaby of Broadway.” ■ Title — *Gold Diggers of 1935* ■ Director — Busby Berkeley ■ Cast — Dick Powell, Adolphe Menjou, Gloria Stuart ■ Unrated, suitable for general audiences ■ ©1935 ■ 1h 35m ■ Comedy, Musical, Romance ■ black & white A Busby Berkeley musical encore will follow the feature: “Don’t Say Goodnight” from *Wonder Bar* (1934).

Wednesday Crystal City Run: 50 min
Wednesday Crystal City Run: 50 min
For the Wednesday run, let's meet at 1750 Crystal Dr (Entrance by Morton's Steakhouse) before walking over to the Crystal City Water Park and run on the Mt. Vernon Trail alongside the scenic Potomac River. LOCATION: Meet at 1750 Crystal Dr (Entrance by Morton's Steakhouse). Link to location on map: http://i.imgur.com/3yN0lwN.jpg NOTES: Photos taken during the event may end up on Instagram, Meetup, Strava and similar platforms. Let's meet at 6:50 PM, leaving by 7:00 PM. We will do 50 minutes, so 25 minutes out and 25 minutes back. You're welcome to do more if you'd like. Just before the run we decide whether we'll go NORTH (DC) or SOUTH (Old Town) on the trail. Once we're done, we meet back up at the Crystal City Water Park area. After the run please feel free to hangout and socialize with the group or join us at National Landing Water Park for a beverage and/or food. https://g.co/kgs/AErMQZ All paces are welcome! We run by time, not speed so bring a watch to monitor your time and turn around at the halfway time point. If you need to run/walk, that's ok! We average anywhere between 7-13 minute/per mile pace. First Time? Start out slow to find someone around your pace. The different paces tend to automatically gather, so you won't be alone! Metro: Crystal City on Blue/Yellow lines, 2 blocks from metro exit. Parking: There is plenty of paid parking options (parking garages, street parking, or parking lots) in the area on Crystal Drive or Long Bridge Park. Post-Run: A lot of times we have a little social outing after the run. You can bring a change of clothes if you'd like (though most people just go as is). We'll finish up the run, meet back at the Water Park, pick up our wallets and walk to wherever we decided to go for a beverage and/or food. If you have a suggestion for a place to check out, let us know!

What Rich Families Teach Their Kids About Money
What Rich Families Teach Their Kids About Money
Most families work hard for years yet still struggle financially because they were never taught the principles of building, protecting, and transferring wealth. While schools teach people how to earn money, very few teach how to make money grow, protect income, reduce financial stress, and create long-term stability for future generations. In this exclusive Private Financial Blueprint Session, licensed financial professional Sandy Osei will walk attendees through practical financial concepts and strategies commonly used by financially successful families. This workshop is designed to help individuals and families better understand how money works and how to make smarter financial decisions in today’s economy. During this live online session, participants will learn: • The financial habits wealthy families teach their children early • Common money mistakes that keep families financially stuck • How to protect income and prepare for unexpected life events • Strategies to begin building long-term wealth and financial security • Ways to create more financial freedom, options, and stability for future generations • Important financial concepts many people were never taught in school This is not just another motivational webinar. The session is focused on education, real-life application, and actionable steps attendees can begin implementing immediately. Because this is a private session, seating is limited and available by application only. The workshop is open to serious applicants located in the United States and Canada who are ready to improve their financial future and gain valuable financial knowledge. Whether you are starting your financial journey, trying to break generational cycles, or looking for better strategies for your family’s future, this workshop was created to provide clarity, education, and empowerment.
