TEA & MAGIC - Chat, do Spells, do Rituals, whatever ... (with lots of tea!)
**Event posted in other places so number shown below doesn't represent how many people will actually come.**
**Saturday 10th January**
Come along ANYTIME between 10.30am and 5.30pm. **Only $20**, pay on the day - BUT PLEASE DON'T COME IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU LIVE WITH FEELS SICK with COVID or FLU!
You know? We know how it is …
You've read the books and looked up stuff online … and you’re bursting with ideas and questions and you want to talk about it with someone … but … your family won’t understand, your friends won’t take you seriously … and don’t even think about your workmates …
That’s why, many years ago, we started Magic Saturdays to provide a safe, comfortable and very pagan space where you can immerse yourself in Witchcraft, Paganism, Magic, Spells, Rituals … everything … nothing is off-limits and there are no stupid questions.
Each Saturday, apart from the obvious conversations, we try to do some magic just so you can get a feel for it. The people that come along range from complete beginners to those that have been living the pagan life for some time. It doesn’t matter. Everyone has something to contribute or some just want to soak up the atmosphere. Either way, whether you come for half an hour or the whole day you’ll feel refreshed, empowered and validated … and you may have even met some of our nature spirits.
Our shop is also open (it doesn’t cost anything if you just want to come and look at the shop), so remember to top up on your magical supplies while you’re here. We now also have a selection of potted herbs for sale including such magical herbs as Mugwort, Rue and Squill.
Tarot readings are also available.
When: Saturday, 10th January …
Time: … anytime between 10.30am & 6.00pm
Where: 130 Boronia Rd., Vermont, Melbourne, 3133
Cost: $20
03 9873 3736
(please note this event is also posted on our website and facebook pages, so the number of people attending shown here does not reflect the number of people that will turn up)

Mindful Movement on South Melbourne Beach + Brunch
This is a weekly event for our community to meet in-person on the beautiful South Melbourne beach for some inspiring mindful movement.
We do this practice online twice each weekday (7am and 7pm) - but this is our community's chance to meet up in real life!
Specifically the practice is called Good Vibrancy and is a fairly concise 30-minute practice involving a sequence of...
\- Breath\-work for inspiration
\- Movement for grace
\- Compassion for love/gratitude
\- Mindfulness for balance
\- Visualisation for intention
\- Qi Gong for abundance
It is designed to align one's whole self (mind, body, spirit) around one's higher ideals - for example freedom and abundance. This not only feels amazing but also, over time, will make success a simple and straight-forward choice - because limitations, distractions and complications will become increasingly irrelevant.
If this is your first time doing the practice you will likely feel highly elated from engaging with your fullest self (perhaps for the first time - and on a public beach). This is not a bad thing it's just part of the process of starting a new practice - stick with it and you will feel grounded and refreshed.
The visualisation part (Life Visualisation) involves reimagining your past "story" and future "script". So please have a general idea of your ideal life/future in mind and note that if you have unresolved trauma it's not a good time to delve into that aspect of your past.
The compassion part of the practice (Heart Invocation) involves a short/silent/personal prayer (because this is an effective method of tuning into abundant, universal love) - if you don't want to pray you can sit this part out but please respect other peoples' choice to pray.
Perhaps around 10.45am we will go to a cafe for brunch for about 45-min - if you are attending brunch please purchase a beverage or something to eat! Thanks
Practice Emotional Intelligence & Deep Connections Together
Ever noticed how rare it is to have a conversation where you feel truly valued and understood? We believe **5-minutes of deep, active listening** is what it takes to build deep emotional connections with others.
This event is a guided experience where you’ll **practice emotional intelligence and building deep connection through structured 1-on-1 conversations**. Each person will alternate between being the *Listener* and the *Expresser*, with 5 minutes in each role.
As the **Expresser**, you’ll explore thought-provoking prompts designed to deepen self-awareness and compassion.
As the **Listener**, you’ll practice listening with empathy and curiosity, without trying to fix or advise.
We will also use **journaling and guided reflection** as tools to help us communicate with clarity and EQ, and end with a group reflection circle to share our unique strategies to improve EQ together!
Through this simple yet profound process, you’ll learn to:
* Build emotional connection by making others feel seen and valued
* Improve self-awareness and compassion in authentic interactions
* Develop core EQ skills like empathy, active listening, and assertive expression
BEWARE: NO MULTI-LEVEL MARKETING SCHEME IS ALLOWED IN THIS GROUP, THAT INVOLVES PROMOTING MENTORSHIP, SELF-HELP DEVELOPMENT, CREATING BUSINESS OR FINANCIAL FREEDOM.
Our aim is to create an emotionally safe, respectful, non-judgmental and growth-oriented environment where you can practice emotional intelligence, build authentic connections, and walk away with a renewed sense of clarity.

Lunch at Yiaga
Our wonderful host LeAnn held a meal at Yiaga in early November shortly after the restaurant first opened (credit to those diners for the featured photo). For those who missed out, this is your chance to experience Hugh Allen’s new venture (you’ll know his name from Vue de Monde), set in the beautiful Fitzroy Gardens.
The restaurant itself is a masterpiece, crafted almost entirely from Australian materials and traditions of local craft. You’ll enjoy a multi-course lunch degustation that celebrates Australia through its farmers, fishers, growers, makers, artists, and creatives. You can read Broadsheet’s write up here:
https://www.broadsheet.com.au/featured/yiaga-opens-fitzroy-gardens
I’ve booked for 6 Fine Diners to enjoy the set menu at $295 per person for lunch from 12pm on Saturday 10 January.
There are options on the day for drink pairings - see the website for more detail on price points for the various matching choices if you are interested.
Join the waitlist to express interest.
Once I have names in the waitlist, I’ll send you a ‘Meetup Message’ to confirm you have a spot and how to pay. You’ll need to send me $295 to secure your place (the restaurant charges the full menu price for cancellations with less than 72 hrs notice - this will be deducted from your bill when we settle up).
Once paid I’ll move you from the waitlist to going.
Any dietary requirements must be advised in advance or Yiaga may not be able to accommodate, so please note these when you join the waitlist.
Please check that you don’t have your settings blocking messages; if I can’t contact you I’ll have to move on to the next person. Also if you don’t respond to my message within 3 days, I’ll let you know that I’m offering the seat to the next person on the waitlist.
Thanks and looking forward to trying Yiaga with you!

Inclusive Grief Circle: Honouring Loss Through Ceremony, Community & Creativity
Read reviews from past participants [here](https://www.greenhousecreativesanctuary.com/inclusivegrief)
“Grief has never been private, it has always been communal.
Subconsciously, we are awaiting the presence of others, before we can feel safe enough to drop to our knees on the holy ground of sorrow. For the most part, grief is not a problem to be solved, not a condition to be medicated, but a deep encounter with an essential experience of being human. Grief becomes problematic when the conditions needed to help us work with grief are absent.” - Francis Weller
Our primary association with grief is the loss of a loved one but there are so many kinds of losses that don't have formal ceremonies that are important to honour. Unprocessed grief can accumulate in weight, dulling our senses and capacity for aliveness.
This is a safe, supportive space for all shapes, sizes and textures of grief- for the loss of our loved ones, for the childhood we did not get to have, for the parts of ourselves that have been rejected and exiled, for friendships and relationships with ambiguous endings, for homes and communities we are distanced from and miss, for the suffering of the world and our fellow beings.
This inclusive grief circle is also an advocacy for compassionate and attentive grief work, for reshaping our understanding of and relationship with grief. It is a holding space, a container, a time and a deep permission to acknowledge our emotions, our connections, the ways we have been touched and transformed, and our humanity.
We will make art in response to the Grief Deck, share and witness each other’s stories and journeys, and co-create a group nature mandala together.
**Please bring a jar and 8-10 similar natural objects (8 flowers or 8 sticks or 8 stones).**
If you are facing financial hardship, please key in CONCESSION as a promo code for a discounted price of $25. If that is still difficult, please email me at greenhouse.arttherapy@gmail.com. No one will be turned away.
**Please also note:**
* This is an art-therapy informed community-based creative workshop, and is not intended to replace individual or group therapy, and is also not for emergency crisis support or intervention.
* If you are comfortable with me taking photos of you and/or your artwork for learning and supervision purposes, and to offer others a sense of what the workshop is like, please let me know at the start of the session. Your participation would be greatly appreciated!

Humanist Program
Our January program is privileged to have Kristen Tregar as our speaker. Ms. Tregar is the co-author with John de Lancie (the actor who portrayed the character Q on Star Trek next generation) of a radio play depicting the events surrounding the Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District trial. The trial decided the issue of some of the Dover school district board members attempting to insert creationism disguised as "intelligent design" into the 9th grade biology curriculum. She will discuss the trial and the process of writing the play. (Bob Leonhard has seen the play and it is riveting and tense). Ms. Tregar's bio is below:
Kristen Tregar is a dramaturg, director, playwright, and theatre teacher. She earned her Ph.D. in Drama and Theatre from the UC San Diego and UC Irvine joint program. In addition, she has a MS in Forensic Science from City University of New York- John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a MA in Educational Theatre from New York University- Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. In 2013, in collaboration with Irish colleagues, she founded *The Ireland Project*, an intercontinental devised theatre work with high school students in New York and Tallaght, Ireland. Her original short story "Far From Here" was recently published in *Stay Awhile Longer: More Scenes From Temecula Valley*. She has two rescued dogs (Kira and Harry) and she rides, competes, and foxhunts with her horses, Andromache and Baker Street Irregular.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.

Contra dance Jan 24 (First Unitarian Universalist Church) note new time!
# **Band: The Pegheads; Caller: Liz Burkhart**
Beginner lesson at 1:30, regular dancing begins at 2:00 pm
NOTE THAT WE ARE TEMPORARILY DANCING IN THE AFTERNOON INSTEAD OF EVENING. Dance with us in the afternoon then you can still go out in the evening!
**Sponsor: All Soles Contra and Square Dancing, First Unitarian Universalist Church, 93 W. Weisheimer Rd., Columbus OH 43214**
WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing!
Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 1:30 - 2:00, followed by dancing 2:00 - 430. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot.
Please bring your own refillable water bottle.
