đŹMovie: Disclosure Day - Food & Drinks after the movie đż!
đŹ Letâs Go to the Movies (and Actually Talk⊠or Not)
Whether you're a film nerd, popcorn enthusiast, or just looking for a chill night out with interesting people â this one's for you.
Weâre heading out to see a movie together, then grabbing food or drinks after. If the film's great (or terrible), weâll probably talk about it forever. If itâs just okay, weâll talk about it for 10 minutes and move on to everything else â books, dating apps, weird dreams, how Toronto keeps getting more expensive, etc.
The vibe is relaxed, friendly, and not too serious. No film degree needed. No icebreakers. No pressure to âperform.â Just come enjoy the film, connect with some thoughtful people, and see where the night goes Click here to watch trailer!

Drumming Circle & Uplifting Discussion đȘâšđ
**NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**
**About Drum & Soul**
Drum & Soul is a participatory community space that combines drumming, singing, reflection and conversation in one shared experience. Through rhythms from different cultures, collective music making and meaningful discussion around a focused theme, we practise qualities that strengthen both the individual and the community.
This is more than a drumming circle. It is a space where people can grow in expression, presence, listening, and contribution, while learning how these same qualities can be carried into everyday life and relationships.
---
...
**Why come**
Come if you want to grow your expressive capacity, feel more at ease participating with others, and be part of a growing space that celebrates the human in us. Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, background or musical experience.
If you feel shy in groups, that is completely natural. Many people arrive unsure and leave feeling surprisingly at home.
---
...
**How it works**
---
We begin with a short breathing and centring exercise, followed by simple rhythm demonstration and call and response drumming. We then move into smaller group discussion around a shared theme. From there we shift into collective jamming and improvisation, and end with a potluck meal and informal connection.
---
...
**Typical meeting flow**
1. đ«±đœâđ«Čđ» Arrival & social time â 15 min
2. đđ»ââïž Welcome, check in and centring â 15 min
3. đȘ Call & Respond **Drumming & demo** â 20 min
4. đŹ Facilitated **Discussion** on the Theme (groups of five-or so) â 20 min
5. đșđœ Open **Jamming** with multiple instruments â 30 min
6. đŠ Potluck **dinner** & social time afterwards â 60 min
*This outline is flexible and may shift to suit the group and the space.*
---
...
**Logistics & what to bring**
We meet in a large and beautiful space. Drums are available on a first come first served basis. We also provide plenty of small percussion instruments so every hand can play. You are welcome to bring your own drum or instrument.
We end the evening with a shared **potluck meal**, an extension of the circle where conversation and connection continue. Since the event is free, we warmly ask everyone to bring a small item to share if they are able. Simple finger foods and easy to serve savoury items are especially helpful, such as fruit, veggies and dip, wraps, sandwiches, hummus and pita, samosas, spring rolls, crackers and cheese, or other meal friendly bites. Sweet items are welcome too, but meal friendly contributions are especially appreciated.
---
...
**Cost & contributions**
---
This is a free event. If you are unable to bring food, you are welcome to make an optional contribution toward refreshments and materials by e-transfer to **hooshmandnyc@gmail.com**
---
...
**Helpful notes**
---
No prep needed. Doors open at 3:45 p.m. Please arrive by then so we can start at 4:00 p.m. sharp and keep the flow. Location and any last minute updates are posted on Meetup and in our WhatsApp group. We recommend joining the WhatsApp group (ask us for the link at the venue) for quick notices.
---
...
**Life Between Gatherings**
Drum & Soul does not begin and end with the monthly session. For those who want to continue beyond the gatherings and go deeper, we also have:
âą **Advanced sessions** for those who want to go further in drumming technique and explore the discussion themes more deeply in a smaller group
⹠**Home or café meetups** for simple in-person connection, where a few participants can continue the conversation more personally and naturally
âą **Ongoing contact** so the spirit of the gathering can carry into everyday life through our own reflection, friendship and mutual encouragement
Over time, these smaller spaces help strengthen connection, shared learning, and community life between sessions. Ask us about these features for more detail.
---
...
**Why this matters**
Our world is like a sick body, and is aching for a lasting remedy. We believe our special mission here is to nurture one another, define our roles in service to our fellow humans, and become living temples of unity. A meaningful growth unfolds through both selfâdiscovery and collective effort, and one cannot truly flourish without the other. Come open and prepared to learn, to offer your gifts, and to be strengthened by the power of community.

An Epic Journey: Dante's Inferno (LECTURE ON THE GO)
**The Toronto History Walks Explorer Pass is available. Get it now for $125.00 for 1 year of unlimited tours, email**
**torontohistorywalks@gmail.com**
**for more information or for signing up!**
We have an amazing "Lecture on the Go" series for 2026. New topics and fascinating stories abound! Join us and learn about the world and keep active and warm and cool during the winter and summer months!
I started this walking classroom when we were under that horrible cloud called Covid. This series was popular and helped people get back into society and life.
The "Lecture on the Go" Series is open to members who have purchased the YEARLY MEMBERSHIP PASS, it's free for those members. If you wish to attend a lecture and you are not a yearly pass member then the price **per** lecture is $20.00.
This fourth lecture is focussed on the writings by the Italian poet Dante Alighieri. We are taken on an unexpected descent into a place where every choice, mistake, and hidden truth seems to have a consequence. Dante finds himself lost, but what follows is anything but ordinary. He enters a world that is imaginative, and strangely familiar.
Dante encounters a series of surprising scenes. The landscape shifts, the atmosphere deepens, and the people he meets add a layer of realism that makes the experience personal. The structure of the story builds in intensity, revealing how each step downward uncovers something new.
What makes this work so fascinating is not just its imagery, but the questions it raises. *Inferno* invites you to think differently about consequences, and accountability, and the way stories shape our understanding. You may find yourself reconsidering ideas in new light.
In this lecture on the Go, weâll explore *Danteâs Inferno* in a way that reveals its surprises. Youâll come away with a clear understanding of the journey, and its themes, and the remarkable way in which it was written. If youâre curious about a story that continues to challenge this is one journey you wonât want to miss.
Upcoming topics in the 2026 series:
\*Philosophy 1: Great Minds of the Western World: Goethe to Kant! - (June 2026)
\*Philosophy 2: Great Minds of the Eastern
World: Chuang Tzu to Dalai Lama - (July 2026)
The 1977 Disaster at Tenerife - (August 2026)
Legacy of Triangle: How a New York Factory Scandal changed North America - (September 2026)
This is the fourth event in the series! So book your plans now!
This event is for all levels and walkers, there are a few steps here and there to navigate, but mostly on one level. This event in a non-walking event.
The lecture begins on the steps of Old City Hall at the northeast corner of Bay Street and Queen Street West, and
has a ticket price of $20.00 per person, but **free with the yearly membership pass**.
**Please note: Please e-transfer the ticket amount when booking your space for this tour! You can e-transfer to the following email at:**
