Let's be tourists for one day! Vol. IV 🚌 SATURDAY CITY EXPLORE with JakFri
Hey, friend in Jakarta! Now that you joined JakFri... **are you a member of [Jakarta Writers (former Creatives)](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-creatives/) yet?** Want to see **pictures** of past events? **[Take a look here!](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-friends/photos/)** And feel free to upload a few pictures you might take at the event 😊 JakFri and JakCre are **the** biggest, first, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta... and we invite you to join us for a **FREE CITY EXPLORE & dinner in South Jakarta!** Everyone is always welcome to join our events. Our community is all about creating authentic in-person connections in this urban jungle. Come as you are... It’s the best version of yourself. **ABOUT THE EVENT** Let's play tourists for a day. On March 14th this year, **BENDERA PUSAKA PARK** was officially opened by the Governor of DKI Jakarta along with Megawati Soekarnoputri, the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia. This Park in South Jakarta combines three iconic parks—Ayodya Park, Langsat Park, and Leuser Park—into a single, integrated 5.6-hectare green open space (RTH). They have a beautiful Skybridge, free sports facilities + playgrounds, and are open 24 hours. We'll start from **Gate D** (in front of Tuang Coffee), and then take a break at **Ayodya Park** watching the sunset before heading to the restaurant for dinner. Here is the meeting point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/BDtDzXPgo9Cg6wco7 If you want to join only for dinner at the venue (see below 👇🏽), it's possible, but it's your responsibility to find the group and wait to have a free seat at the restaurant, etc. (the group cannot wait for you!) **We have organised this event before! Take a look here:** * [Let's be tourists for one day! Vol. III 🚶🚶🏻‍♀️ A walk in the park with JakFri](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-friends/events/313921106/) * [Let's be tourists for one day! Vol. II 🚌 SATURDAY CITY TOUR with JakFri](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-friends/events/313184303/?eventOrigin=group_events_list) * [Let's be tourists for one day! Vol. I 🚌 SATURDAY CITY TOUR with Jakarta Friends](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-friends/events/312589863) **ABOUT THE VENUE** After exploring the **Bendera Pusaka Park**, we'll stroll over to an Indonesian cuisine called AROEM (a roughly 5-minute walk). We can choose to order food to share or select individual dishes; we’ll make that decision together when we get there. See their social media presence here: https://www.instagram.com/aroem_mahakam?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw== **ABOUT THE HOST** Your host for this event will be Gina, a seasoned local with a lot of knowledge about the city and eager to welcome new friends to our community. **HOW TO REGISTER TO THE EVENT?** To register, just click “Attend”! There are a few simple rules * We kindly ask attendees who cannot manage to join to **update RSVP at least 24 h before the event** as a courtesy to other attendees and event organisers. * Don't be late! We need to hop on the bus together * People in the waitlist **cannot** attend, and are encouraged to check a few hours before the event to see if they got a spot * 3X no-show = removal from the group. * Attendess who bring a +1 need to make sure that the guest understands and agrees to our rule of mutual respect and inclusivity * Cancellations within 2 hours of the event are unfiendly to organisers, venues, and fellow attendees, and will be **considered as a no-show**. Writers' Club: GIVE & RECEIVE FEEDBACK on your writings 📖✍️🤓 with JakWri
Writers' Club: GIVE & RECEIVE FEEDBACK on your writings 📖✍️🤓 with JakWri
Hello, Jakarta Writer! **Are you a member of [Jakarta Friends](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-friends/) yet?** Want to see **pictures** of past events? **[Take a look here!](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-creatives/photos/)** And feel free to upload a few pictures you will take at the event 😊 JakCre and JakFri is **the** biggest, oldest, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta… and we invite you to join us for this **WRITERS' CLUS: Give and receive FEEDBACK** **on your writing! 📖✍️🤓** Everyone is always welcome to join our events. Our community is all about creating authentic in-person connections in this urban jungle. Come as you are... it’s the best version of yourself. **ABOUT THE EVENT** What's one of the most difficult part in writing? Getting high-quality feedback! This event addresses exactly this! Plus, writers will have the chance to be part of a friendly community and a support system for fellow creatives. **We want to help and elevate each other!** This is what we will do: We will meet at the indicated time (please don't be late) and everyone who wishes to can drop their name on a box for a lucky draw. One person is selected by chance and will need to have a text **of any kind** (poetry/fiction/non-fiction/essay/article/script/blog/music lyrics/whatever!) ready to share with everyone on a Google drive folder. Then everyone will take their time and read the piece(s) on their own. We allocate **about 90 minutes quiet reading time**. Readers will take notes on what they wish to give feedback to. The author is also welcome to brief readers on what they should pay attention to or give feedback on. People who wishes to be there as readers only (that is, without putting their name in the lucky draw box), are most welcome to! The crucial part is that everyone needs to be respectful of each other's craft and give **polite, constructive feedback**! After reading time, there is the feedback time! **For about 90 minutes, we will discuss what we have read, and give feedback to the author.** Sounds easy, fun, and productive? It is. Everyone will have the chance to learn something new! This event doesn't require any preparation! We will read and give feedback on the spot. It's important that everyone is **on time** and **ready to share their text on Google Drive** for everyone to read, so that we can start without delays! This will be a unique occasion to receive a feedback on your writings (of any kind) and to practice your ability to give and receive feedbacks on texts! Just be ready to share (not mandatory) **a piece of your writing of about 2,000 words** (1,000 to 10,000 words is OK, too, but be aware that a shorter piece is more likely to receive plenty of feedback) as a Google Drive link and grant people access to read. **We have done this event many times before! Take a look here:** * [GIVE & RECEIVE FEEDBACK on your writings 🤓 (May 2026) ](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-writers/events/314031386/) * [GIVE & RECEIVE FEEDBACK on your writings 🤓 (Feb 2026)](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-writers/events/313180424/) * [GIVE & RECEIVE FEEDBACK on your writings 🤓 (Jan 2026)](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-creatives/events/312723598/) * [GIVE & RECEIVE FEEDBACK on your writings 🤓 (Dec 2025)](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-creatives/events/312032052) * [GIVE & RECEIVE FEEDBACK on your writings 🤓 (hybrid) (Nov 2025)](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-creatives/events/311725541/) * [GIVE & RECEIVE FEEDBACK on your writings 🤓 (hybrid) (Aug 2025)](https://www.meetup.com/jakarta-creatives/events/310122815/) * [GIVE & RECEIVE FEEDBACK on your writings 🤓 (online) (Aug 2025)](https://www.meetup.com/how-to-become-a-writer/events/308662343/) **ABOUT THE VENUE** **Mikkro Espresso Jakarta** is a lovely café and eatery with ample space inside in their semi-open terrace space. After the event, some of us might feel like going at Mad for Laugh, acomedy event just around the corner, where they have regular comedy shows Sundays at 4 PM. We need to start together.** * People in the waitlist cannot attend, and are encouraged to check a few hours before the event if they got a spot * Repeated no-show (3X) without updating RSVP will be removed from the group. * Cancellation at the last minute is unfriendly for other attendees, organisers, and venue. Feel Good Friday: POWER BALLAD at the Gateway Film Center + SHAKE NO. 8!
Join us as we get together to see Paul Rudd in the latest comedy-drama-musical from John Carney, POWER BALLAD! The film follows a washed-up wedding singer, a fading boy band singer and a stolen hit song. Here’s a description, trailer and plan for this event: DESCRIPTION: Rick, a washed-up wedding singer, and Danny, a fading boy band star, bond over music and a late-night jam session. When Danny turns Rick's song into a hit, Rick sets out to reclaim the recognition he believes he deserves. Power Ballad is written/directed by John Carney, the master of the modern musical and creative mind behind Once, Begin Again and Sing Street! It stars Paul Rudd, Nick Jonas, Peter McDonald, Marcella Plunkett, Havana Rose Liu and Jack Reynor. BUZZ & ACCLAIM: The film premiered to rave reviews at this year’s Dublin International Film Festival where critics call it “a sure-fired crowd-pleaser” that “just might be the feel-good hit of the year!” Others say, “Paul Rudd delivers a career-best performance in this charmer” that’s both “hilarious and deeply moving!” SUMMER OF ICE CREAM, VOL 2: SHAKE NO. 8! Ranked the #1 Ice Cream Shop in Columbus in 2024, this is the perfect place to kick off our Summer of Ice Cream and grab a sweet treat after the show! Their menu features an array of traditional, specialty and vegan shakes, hot cocoa, and more! This group has been meeting every Tuesday evening for over a decade. Many attendees do not RSVP on meetup. Please don't let the small number here discourage you. Anyone/everyone is welcome to come. We'd love to have you join us. COTA bus #5 comes to W. 5th and Wyandotte Rd. And it's a minute walk to the restaurant.
