Did you know that unwanted emotions like anxiety, depression, unhappiness, loneliness, hopelessness, anger, fear, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not due to a chemical imbalance in your brain from some nebulous chemical reaction "by chance". Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you. The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life. Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life. Join The Black Nonbelievers of Chitown with The State of Illinois African Descent-Citizens Reparations Commission (ADCRC). They will convene a public hearing in Chicago to advance statewide efforts toward reparative justice for Black Americans who were harmed by policies descended from American Slavery. The hearing will be held at the DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center on April 25, 2026, at 10 a.m. A livestream will be available on the ADCRC YouTube page: www.YouTube.com/@IllinoisADCRC. Expert speakers Clayola Brown, Dr. William A. Darity Jr., A. Kirsten Mullen, and Rev. Dr. Jonathan Brooks will join the commission to discuss findings from the harms report, including the racial wealth gap, the role of religious imperatives, and the economic impact of stolen labor. We meet to learn and practice American Sign Language and to grow our familiarity with Deaf culture. Facilitated by hearing folks (with a connection to a professional interpreter) using Deaf-created content. People of all ASL skill levels are welcome!
