## Details Hello everyone! We climb at Crystal City Movement every Monday. Please read rest of the description carefully. We mostly do tope rope climbing but we can arrange bouldering sessions as well. If you prefer lead climbing please post on the comments to find your belay partner. \#\# Requirements * If you are not a Movement member, you'll get a daily pass. If you are totally new to climbing and want to do top rope, then you have to have a belay certificate. The test takes around 15 mins so it can be done before the climbing session. We will meet around the benches next to climbing walls.

**Bring a flash light.** Some of the walk is lit with street lights. Some is not. **YOU WILL NEED SPIKES. TRAIL IS ALL ICY !!!!** We will be hiking along the historic Alexandria waterfront down and through scenic Old Town to the Wilson bridge and back. Lovely views of the river, as well as of Old Town. Part of the walk is on the Mount Vernon Trail bike path. Hike is mostly flat, and on paved surfaces or board walk. Please note the hike leaves at 600PM sharp. There are bathrooms at the halfway point. **Meet at the small parking area closest to the bike path. First left on Marina Drive. Not the large marina parking area that is further along.** We walk pretty briskly around 3.4-3.8 miles an hour. I assume if you can’t keep up, you can always find your way back to the starting point. Hope you can join our group of stalwart regulars and cheery newcomers. Happy hiking. Most of the walk has street lights, but not all so, but bring a light.

This PGCC Hand Dance class is taught by the "7" Step Hand Dance Academy. The "7" Step Hand Dance Academy is a non-profit organization, dedicated to teaching, preserving, and promoting the African American art form of D.C. Hand Dancing. If you have ever wanted to learn how to hand dance, come join us. Not only will have fun learning how to hand dance, but you will make new friends in the process! This is a 8-week course. In the first 30 minutes of class, Qi Gong(5 organ and spirit enlivening)exercises are taught. In the last hour, the class is divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced groups and are taught Lao (old) Yang Tai Chi Chuan.

**Greetings Empty-Nester Ladies!** Let's meet at the Annapolis Rock Trailhead for a 5.1 mile (800 ft elevation gain) hike to Annapolis Rock. This is considered a moderate, out-and-back trail with great views along the way. The estimated time of the adventure is 2.5-3 hours. If you are a woman, looking to hike with other women in the same "empty-nesting" season of life, this outing might be for you. Whether a versed outdoor women or hoping to identify as an outdoorsy woman this year, come join us! We will meet at the Annapolis Rock Trailhead in the Appalachian Trail parking area, directly off Rt-40 near Myersville, MD (near the 11275 block). Be mindful to park in designated area, as police have been known to ticket illegally parked cars. The parking area is small; If full, there is paid parking at the Greenbriar State Park entrance, west on Rt-40. We **WILL** hike in the cold weather, but refer to this post for any possible weather cancellations before you head out. Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing! Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor. Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 1:30 - 2:00, followed by dancing 2:00 - 430. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
