Not everyone wants their first Dinner Exchange experience to be walking into someone’s home full of strangers. So we’re starting easier - by meeting for a relaxed apéro at Vergani (Löwenplatz) on Friday, 20th March at 19:00. Nothing too structured, no pressure, just a relaxed chance to meet a few real people who enjoy cooking and then having people around their table at home. You’re welcome to join, especially if you’ve been curious about hosting but would rather get to know people first before inviting them to your home. We’ll keep it simple: Vergani serves great wines and nibbles that you will be able to order at the bar and then mingle with the future hosts. We thought of one of the interesting things that can be enjoyed at this time of the year. We will be meeting at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for a "Fish Fry" in Marian Hall on Friday, March 27th at 5:00 PM. It might be fun for you to experience what has become a tradition on the Fridays before Easter. They will have fried fish or baked fish, French fries and Cole slaw, as well as beverages, all for $16.00 for adults. They will have other beverages and desserts available for sale, as well. We have never tried this, and sometimes there are quite a few people at these events so we hope that we will be able to find each other easily. I'll try to have signs outside Marian Hall that Identify our group. We hope to have you join us!

Younkin Branch Library (Ashville) meeting space is now reserved for any and all interested in or enthused by playing a game of chess. The second Thursday of each month, 6:00pm to 7:50pm. She lives in Ohio on an 80-acre wildlife sanctuary, which she said inspires much of her work, including her 2012 novel, The Bluebird Effect: Uncommon Bonds with Common Bird, and NATURAL GARDENING FOR BIRDS The novel is illustrated with 320 of Zickefoose’s colored paintings, life sketches, and drawings, and it was one of Oprah’s 2012 book club reads.
