Delectable Social Stroll: Full Yarra Bend Circuit 12km - Dights Falls - Moderate
**đ Delectable Summer Social Stroll: Full Yarra Bend Circuit About 12 km Moderate to Difficult**
**Easter Monday 6 April- 12 PM..Arrive at 11.45 AM please**
Join us for a long, lazy, laughterâfilled Autumn social stroll tracing the full Yarra Bend circuit â a gorgeous loop of river bends, bushland, boardwalks, and iconic Melbourne nooks. This is our expanded version of the smaller Yarra Bend walk many of you enjoyed, now stretched into a full, flirty, scenic adventure. This has a couple of difficult sections where you may need to use your hands.
***+++Ensure you read the rules at the end before joining. Registering = agreeing to them+++***
Weâll begin at the Abbotsford Convent, (or more specifically st the Collingwood children's farm entrance), wander past Dights Falls, pause for snacks at the Studley Park Boathouse, and follow the riverâs contours through some of the most beautiful natural pockets in inner Melbourne. Expect birdsong, breezes, shady gums, and plenty of social mingling along the way.
Bonus or not, we'll be going through the section where the many thousands of flying foxes roost during the day.
We will also make a diversion to the golf course cafe which is much more manageable to get a snack.
You can choose your own finale:
- 11 km Full Yarra Bend Circuit ending back at the Convent, or
- 14 km Extended Merri Creek Trail Option finishing at Rushall Station for those who want a little extra autumn sparkle in their step.
đ **Timing**
The Convent Bakery is rumoured to have iceâcold smoothies worth writing home about, and weâll swing by at the end for anyone who wants a refreshing treat.
- Meet at 11:45 a.m. at the gates of the Collingwood Childrenâs Farm (about 50m from the Convent entrance at the end of the road).
**- Walk begins at 12:00 p.m. sharp. Prior to the heat of the day**. Arrive by 11.45 a.m.
- Expect 3â4 hours depending on pace, weather, silly jokes, banter, and snack enthusiasm. My priority is having a relaxing time so I'm not following a strict timetable.
**â MidâWalk Pause**
Weâll stop at the golf course cafe for coffee, cold drinks, or a light bite. Bring a little cash or card if youâd like to indulge. Hopefully it's open, much better than stopping at Studley Park boathouse.
**đś Route Highlights**
- The leafy bends of the Yarra
- Dights Falls lookout
- Riverbank boardwalks and shaded bushland
Abbotsford Convent
- Studley Park Boathouse
- Optional Merri Creek extension to Rushall Station
- Plenty of photo spots, conversation pockets, and natureâsoaked moments
**đ Getting There**
- Train to Victoria Park Station is the easiest option, followed by a short walk to the Convent.
- Parking at the Convent can be a gamble on weekends â arrive early if youâre trying your luck or choose elsewhere.
**đż What to Bring**
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Suitable clothes for a lengthy walk
- Water 2 litres
- Sunscreen and a hat
- A light snack if you like
- Curiosity, good humour, and your best summer social energy
**â ď¸ Group Rules and Event Etiquette â ď¸**
These are basic, commonsense standards that keep events safe, smooth, and enjoyable for everyone.
**Fitness Requirements**:
This should be a moderate to difficult walk for people with average fitness.
There are ssmall ections requiring easy scrambles requiring the use of your hands.
Ensure you can walk around 4km/hr for about 4 hours with breaks. Walk 15km comfortably with a small pack.
We walk at a relaxed pace. Please ensure you meet the fitness level for the event. If the group is forced to wait excessively, you may be asked to leave the event.
**âšď¸ Pace: Too Fast or Too Slow**
Small social group events rely on staying together. If you prefer a very different pace, consider attending solo, joining a faster/slower group, or choosing events that match your fitness..
**đŠâđź Time Constraints**
If youâre on a tight schedule, this may not be the right event. Social activities rarely run exactly on time
**â ď¸ CRITICAL EXPECTATIONS â ď¸**
**đť NoâShows**
Noâshows block waitlisted people from attending and disrupt small-group events.
- Remove yourself at least 24 hours before the event.
- Noâshows will likely be removed and blocked from the group.
- Lastâminute cancellations (âflakingâ) may also result in removal, especially when there is a waitlist.
**đ Attending Without Being on the Going List**
This is a security issue.
**Do NOT turn up unannounced**.
If youâre not on the Going list and havenât arranged it with the organiser beforehand, you will be asked to leave. Event checkâins are being introduced
**â° Late Arrivals**
If youâre late, the group will not wait.
- You may be marked as a NoâShow and removed from the group.
- Itâs your responsibility to communicate and catch upâthis may not be possible for some events.
**đ˛ Second Chances**
If something goes wrong, attempt to communicate with the organiser. Silence + poor behaviour = removal. Communication + accountability = second chances.
This may not be possible during the event as the organiser is busy organising.
1 Hour Breath & Sound Class
**A 1-hour guided breathwork session to help you slow down, release built-up stress, and reconnect with yourself in a calm, supportive space.**

Let's Create an Improvised Musical!
Like Improv Storytelling, Music or singing?
In this session we will combine these elements to create an improvised musical blending the story of theatre, the fun of improv and the magic of music.
We'll start off with some singing and improv warm up activities, do a quick rundown of story structure, suggest a topic and then get into exploring the world and characters a (musical) scene at a time, hopefully reaching some sort of satisfying conclusion!
This time I would like to practice having a clear and simple chorus.
Based on interest, we'll take turns acting and singing in the scene or being musicians. Some level of experience to improv theatre, music, role-playing games or similar is recommended (but not compulsory). for people who want to do music- If you know basic chord progressions you're qualified enough to do music!
I will bring a keyboard and acoustic guitar, but BYO other instruments, voice and snacks.
Last time it was a lot of fun, so we hope to recreate that magic again!
attendance fee is $10, payable on the day
Also, if you do plan on coming, us know instrument if any you're wanting to bring! However just bringing your voice is fine as well
See you there! đ
Dying Consciously: How to Plan and Have Your Preferred Death
**Dying Consciously** \- it's not something most of us think about very much\. But some ancient teachings tell us that our state of consciousness at the time of death will determine the conditions of *our next destination*. And this idea is indeed supported by *some parapsychological evidence*.
**In this unique interactive session,** Candace Ohanessian will walk us through the many considerations and questions one needs to align this most important life-event with our innermost values and wishes.
**Candace will introduce us** to the key foundational concepts, parapsychological aspects of dying, and then the practical foundations of a preferred (conscious) death. She'll then cover in depth what conscious dying is all about, how to be in a supporting role with others who may be dying, and then finishing with some closing reflections and discussion.
Certainly **a thought-provoking and eye-opening** discussion, and one you rarely get the opportunity to explore in a safe space with an experienced expert in the field. When we face up to our greatest fears, we become empowered.
**About Candace:**

Contra dance with Big Scioty April 11 - Clinton Heights Lutheran church
**Caller: Kim Thompson**
**Band: Full Moon Country Dance Orchestra**
**Clinton Heights Lutheran Church**
**15 Clinton Heights Ave, Columbus, OH 43202**
WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like youâve seen in period films such as âPride and Prejudiceâ, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. Thatâs English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like âswing your partnerâ and âdo-si-do,â like youâve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alĂĄ âRiverdance.â Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THATâs Contra Dancing!
Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
Cost is $10.00 adults, $5.00 ages 12-26. Under 12 free. Free parking in church lot.

Disc Tues / Choose Your Movie: THE CHRISTOPHERS vs NORMAL at the Gateway!
Join us as we get together for a Discount Tuesday / Choose Your Movie event to see your choice of two great new films! Option 1 (and the one I'll be seeing) is the top-reviewed comedy-drama, THE CHRISTOPHERS! The film is set in the art world and follows the estranged children of a former artist who hire a forger. It is directed by Steven Soderberg, stars Ian McKellen and Michaela Coel and has been earning rave reviews on the indie circuit. Option 2 is the latest action-thriller starring Bob Odenkirk, NORMAL! The film follows a temporary small-town sheriff who uncovers dark mysteries after a local bank robbery. Here are descriptions, trailers and our plan for this event:
THE CHRISTOPHERS: The children of a once famous artist hire a forger to complete some unfinished, long ago abandoned canvases so they'll have a better inheritance when he dies. It is directed by Steven Soderbergh and stars Ian McKellen, Michaela Coel, Jessica Gunning and James Corden. BUZZ & ACCLAIM: The film is earning an excellent 97% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes where critics call it a âdynamic, emotional and surprising journeyâ and a âcompelling chamber piece that works like intellectual comfort food.â Others call the film, an âincredibly funny, comedy drama with plot reversals that make it feel like itâs on the verge of a thriller!â TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H79-EqzmdwY&t=20s
NORMAL: This action-crime-thriller follows a man who comes to the sleepy town of Normal, Minnesota to serve as the temporary sheriff. But a bank robbery leads him to a criminal underground reaches throughout the entire town. The film is directed by Ben Wheatley and stars Bob Odenkirk, Henry Winkler and Lena Headey. The film comes from the same team that brought us Nobody and the John Wick series, so expect an over-the-top, action-filled thrill ride! TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rmm-lM33Qw0&t=19s
PLAN: Weâll plan for a 7pm-ish showing of both films and will meet in the lobby area about 30 minutes before showtime. Once showtimes are announced, advance ticket purchase is advised (GFC website preferred)! Please list your movie of choice and seat number in the Comments section of this event. Showtimes and complete details will be confirmed/announced as the date gets closer.
PARKING: Close, convenient parking is available in the nearby garage (located between 9th and 11th, just off High St). Bring your ticket with you and have it validated at the theater and for $2, youâre covered for the night!
Look forward to seeing you there, Dan
