Rhetorik Training - Mut & Rede TM Neukölln - wg.
**Was macht unseren Club besonders?**
www.mut-und-rede.de/kontakt#anfahrt

Monday of Holy Week - Worship in English with Holy Communion
Holy Monday takes us to a quiet, intense scene before everything breaks open: Jesus is at dinner, and Mary pours **costly perfume** on his feet and wipes them with her hair. The room fills with fragrance. It’s tender and shocking and beautiful—and it points straight to Jesus’ burial. Judas objects. Jesus defends her. And the story asks us what love is worth when the hour is near.
This is **old-school worship**—Scripture, hymns, prayer, **Holy Communion**, and silence. No hype. No pressure. Just a steady place to begin Holy Week.
### What to expect
A candlelit service centered on **John 12:1–11**—a night for anyone carrying grief, longing, gratitude, anger, or questions… or for anyone who simply needs a place to sit with Jesus before the cross.
### Tonight includes
* **Scripture: John 12:1–11** — Mary’s anointing, Judas’ protest, and Jesus’ strange, steady response
* **Reflection** — costly love, the scent of burial, and what it means to honor Jesus when it’s easier to critique from the sidelines
* **Holy Communion** — bread and wine at Jesus’ table as Holy Week begins
* **Prayers for the world** — for the poor, the grieving, the conflicted, and all who need mercy
* **Silence** — space to pray, breathe, and let the story settle
### Explicit welcome
**All people are welcome—no exceptions.**
That ALL people, skeptics, seekers, the burned-out, longtime church folks, first-timers, English speakers and non-native speakers, families with kids, and anyone who’s not sure what they believe but knows they need grace.
### Good to know
* Dress however you like.
* Participation is always your choice—no spotlight, no pressure.
* Photos/recording: not during the service.
Come as you are. Let the fragrance fill the room. And begin Holy Week with the kind of love that doesn’t flinch.

--
Whether you're poetry-curious or a seasoned performer, join us for our monthly open mic night at Hank Chinaski! This event is brought to you, for free\*\*, by the [Re(a)d VVedding Collective](https://www.instagram.com/readwedding/), who organize regular events for all phases of the writer's journey, all in the northern Kiez(es) of Berlin.
Join us for our core event which has been going on in Wedding for over three years. You are most welcome to share your work (or that of writers you admire) & meet fellow enthusiasts through this event. All written works & languages are welcome, though bigotry, racism, transphobia, Islamophobia, antisemitism (which *is not Anti-Zionism*), and so on are not welcome in this space.
**Format - 3 sections:**
* Sections 1 & 2: ≈12 performers (≈6 per section, kicking off at 19:30)
* Section 3: Around 21:30, we'll hold space for a writing session and optional sharing afterwards. This open mic is not only about already “finished“ work! For the readings, priority is first given to those who haven't read earlier in the evening & especially to first-time readers!
**\*\*Donations:**
* While our open mic will always be free, we do happily accept donations [via Eventbrite](https://www.eventbrite.de/e/read-wedding-berlin-open-mic-for-poetry-storytelling-tickets-670852075617?aff=oddtdtcreator) or at the door.
* Donations do not guarantee a reading slot, but help support us in putting in this event, others around Wedding, Pankow and Moabit, and our ongoing zine publications. We appreciate it deeply and as a small collective, will put it to good use!
**RSVPs & Sign Up:**
* RSVP via Meetup, Eventbrite, or just show up. Online RSVPs DO NOT save performance spots
* Sign up at the door between 19:00-19:30
* 5-minute performance slots. Please respect this limit to avoid cutting off your work

Offener Leseabend
## Wo & Wann?
**BEGINN**: 20:00 Uhr
**ANMELDUNG zum Lesen: ab 19:30 Uhr**
beim Moderator des Abends – siehe [Termine](http://autorenforum-berlin.de/wordpress/termine/);
Die Teilnahme an der Veranstaltung ist kostenlos.
**SCHWARTZSCHE VILLA**
**Großer Salon**
Direkt am S/U Rathaus Steglitz
Grunewaldstr. 55
*Unfortunately at the moment, it's only possible to present German texts. Unpublished texts that are already translated into German are highly welcome!*
## Was erwartet Sie?
Also – nicht gleich verschwinden! Dranbleiben.
**Was habe ich gehört?** (Zusammenfassung (Nacherzählung))
**Was blieb unverstanden** (akustisch oder logisch)
## **Unter der Lupe**
**Was ist das für ein Text?**
(Prosa: Genre? Lyrik: Welche Art lyrischer Text?)
**Thema**
**Sprache**
(Welche Bilder sind stimmig / welche nicht?
Was lässt sich zum Rhythmus sagen?
Sind die Sätze syntaktisch und grammatikalisch korrekt?)
**Dramaturgie**
(Schafft der Text es, Spannung zu erzeugen? In welcher Reihenfolge werden die Dinge erzählt?)
**Bedeutung**

Christmas Events This Week

Tuesday of Holy Week - Worship in English with Holy Communion
Holy Tuesday brings us to a turning point in John’s Gospel: **“The hour has come.”** Some outsiders come looking for Jesus—*“Sir, we wish to see Jesus”*—and Jesus responds with words about a seed falling into the earth, about losing and finding life, about glory that looks like a cross, and about **light shining while there is still time**.
This is **old-school worship**—Scripture, hymns, prayer, **Holy Communion**, and space to breathe. No pressure. No insider knowledge required.
### What to expect
A calm, candlelit service centered on **John 12:20–36**—a night for anyone who’s searching, tired, curious, or simply trying to make it through Holy Week with honesty.
### Tonight includes
* **Scripture: John 12:20–36** — “We wish to see Jesus”… and Jesus speaks of the coming “hour”
* **Reflection** — the seed that falls, the strange promise of life through surrender, and the call to walk in the light
* **Holy Communion** — bread and wine at Jesus’ table in the deepening of Holy Week
* **Prayers for the world** — for those who are seeking, those who are suffering, and those living in fear
* **Silence** — room for prayer, grief, clarity, or simply being still
### Explicit welcome
**All people are welcome—no exceptions.**
That includes ALL people, skeptics, seekers, longtime church folks, first-timers, English speakers and non-native speakers, families with kids, and anyone who isn’t sure what they believe but wants a place to sit with the story.
### Good to know
* Dress however you like.
* Participation is always your choice—no spotlight, no pressure.
* Photos/recording: not during the service.
Come as you are. Bring your questions. And walk with the light, one night closer to the cross—and the dawn beyond it.

The Three Days: Maundy Thursday
Step into Holy Week with a candlelit, “old-school” service that’s honest, tactile, and deeply moving. Maundy Thursday is the night we remember Jesus’ **Last Supper**, hear his **new commandment** to love one another, and follow him toward the cross—ending in **Tenebrae** (darkness) as the sanctuary is stripped bare.
### What to expect
This is traditional worship—hymns, spoken prayers, Scripture, silence, and a slow, reverent pace. You don’t need to know what to do. You can participate fully, participate quietly, or simply observe.
### Tonight includes
* **The Last Supper** — Scripture and reflection on Jesus’ table and his love “to the end”
* **Individual Absolution (one-on-one option)** — a brief, private moment to hear a personal word of forgiveness (optional)
* **Footwashing** — a simple act of service and humility (optional; we also offer a more comfortable “hands-only” option if you prefer)
* **Holy Communion** — bread and wine at Jesus’ table
* **Tenebrae** — the altar is stripped, lights dim, candles are extinguished as the Passion is read, and we leave in silence
### Explicit welcome
**All people are welcome—no exceptions.**
That includes ALL people, skeptics, the spiritually exhausted, longtime church people, first-timers, English speakers and non-native speakers, families with kids, and anyone who isn’t sure what they believe but knows they need grace.
### Good to know
* Participation in **holy communion, individual absolution** and **footwashing** is **completely optional**—no pressure, no spotlight.
* Dress however you like.
* Photos/recording: not during the service.
Come as you are. Leave in silence. And let this night carry you into Good Friday.

Humanist Program
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.
We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online

Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 – 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process.

• Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell).
• Show up and try it out.
• Complete application, etc. later.
Normal process
• Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/).
• Attend orientation in advance.
• At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility.
• Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM.

The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014.
Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.

Contra dance with Big Scioty April 11 - Clinton Heights Lutheran church
**Caller: Kim Thompson**
**Band: Full Moon Country Dance Orchestra**
**Clinton Heights Lutheran Church**
**15 Clinton Heights Ave, Columbus, OH 43202**
WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing!
Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
