Garrett Park Group Walk
**THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO EXTREME COLD AND UPCOMINGMING BAD WEATHER CHECK BACK FOR NEW DATE**Please join the Sugarloafers for a group walk through the village of Garrett Park. The village of Garrett Park began as a railroad suburb, a place where people could live in the country but work and attend cultural events in DC. Many Victorian era "cottages" still exist. In 1977 Garrett Park declared itself an arboretum to protect and manage its collection of trees and to allow for planting a greater variety of species and maintain its sylvan character.
There are 2 trails: a 5k and a 10k
* The 5 k heads directly tothe town of Garrett Park, passes late Victorian era homes, the Town Hall, and the Penn Building.
* The 10 k starts with the 5 k then adds Randolph Hill Neighborhood which features beautifully maintained 1950's brick homes, then finishes on the Rock Creek multi-use trail.
This is a sanctioned American Volkssports Association, American's Walking Club event. Please arrive early to stamp your books. The Sugarloafers charge $4 participation fee for everyone over 12 years old. Please bring cash or Sugarloafer walk coupons.
Please RSVP and we will message in the event of cancelation due to weather.
House Kirtan in Bethesda
Hello friends! Please come and join Peter and Yassmin(Vandya) for an evening of Kirtan as we raise our vibrations together and chant to the divine!
I like to describe Kirtan, in simple terms, as a chanting meditation. When you chant in Sanskrit, and repeat the mantra over and over, it vibrates your vocal chords and resonates through your whole body. When everyone in the room is chanting together, that vibration unifies us on a cellular level and allows us to access and connect with the Divine within ourselves and each other. It is one of the main practices of Bhakti Yoga, which is another path of Yoga, which unites our mind, body, and spirit.
Feel free to bring some food to share or a percussion instrument to play along with.
Any and all are welcome to join!
Time: 7pm - 9ish
Address: 5914 Johnson Ave. Bethesda, MD 20817
This is a private residence - open to the public - all are welcome - bring a friend, the family, the kids, the parents, the spouse - comfortable setting.
If you want to sit on the floor, it might be wise to bring something to sit on - Zafu or pillow or the like.
