Time for improv fun!
Time for improv fun!
Welcome for some fun improv games together :) About us: We are a bunch of people of all ages and backgrounds, gathering to share the common passion for improv. Improvisation, or Improv for short, is a form of live theatre in which the story, characters and scenes are without a script and made up in the moment, completely different every time. The actors are acting, directing themselves, writing the plot and interacting with each other all at the same time without previous planning. Improvisation can help you with your social and business skills by training your mind to think quickly and react to unexpected situations. In Improvisation, there are no lines to memorize and you play off other creatively challenged fun-loving, global-minded people who loves laughing at themselves. It’s a great way to socialize and make new friends. It’s a welcoming atmosphere, we want you to join in the fun, whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced improviser – come and lets enjoy together! We usually start with some warm-ups that help us relax, listen and focus. Then we move on to doing different kinds of short scene fun games with each other, making characters, stories and our small worlds. In improv mistakes are welcome and you will have goooood times! We charge 50 kr in advance in order to cover our expenses. Swish is king! See you very soon ;) Please come only if you are in good health! P.S. Can Agents fire Arrows?
Can Agents fire Arrows?
Join us for another evening of deep dives into data engineering! This time, we are hosted by **[Heyra](https://heyra.io/)** for two talks that explore the practical side of the "Agentic" shift in data workflows and the high-performance internals of data transfer with Apache Arrow. As always, there will be food, drinks, and plenty of time to network with fellow data engineers in the Copenhagen community. Based on the style of your previous events and the details provided, here is a draft for the upcoming **Agentic data engineering, beyond the hype** *Kilian Tscherny, Lead Data Engineer @ Heyra* Data engineering is changing fast, and the teams getting ahead are the ones rebuilding their workflow around agents instead of just bolting them on. In this talk, Kilian will cover how the team at Heyra has adapted to this shift, sharing real-world examples of how agentic workflows can move beyond the hype to provide actual architectural value. **Taking Flight: Zero-Copy Data Transfer at Scale with Apache Arrow Flight and Friends** *Anders Bogsnes,* *Head of Investments & Trading Engineering @ Nordea Asset Management* We all love Apache Arrow in our DataFrames and DuckDBs - but have you considered how the data is ending up on your machine? Arrow Flight and friends was designed as a way of enabling end-to-end native Arrow communication and in this talk we will go through the motivations behind the Arrow Flight protocol, introduce some of the derived protocols, and we end by building an Arrow Flight server from scratch and demonstrating how to interact with that server from a client. **Agenda** * **18:00:** Doors Open & Networking * **18:20:** Welcome from Copenhagen Data Engineering & Heyra * **18:30:** Agentic data engineering, beyond the hype – Kilian Tscherny * **19:00:** Food, Drinks & Networking * **19:30:** Taking Flight: Zero-Copy Data Transfer at Scale – Anders Bogsnes * **20:00:** Networking & More Drinks
Silvers Dinners Wednesdays
Silvers Dinners Wednesdays
Tickets here: [www.TheSilvers.dk](www.thesilvers.dk) Here in Copenhagen we have started a movement of weekly dinners (on a Wednesday) hosted by the senior generation in their own homes. Seniors with 60+ years of life experience who are community leaders, intellectuals, artists, storytellers, and want to share their experience over dinners for a small group each time. Every Wednesday there is dinner hosted by a different Silver (senior host) who will open their front door, welcome a group of 5-8 people into their home, and share their stories, knowledge, and connections across the table over a themed evening. Each host chooses their own theme and it is the aim to pass on their hard-earned knowledge.
Practical Philosophy Meetup - Copenhagen 🇩🇰
Practical Philosophy Meetup - Copenhagen 🇩🇰
**🏛️ WHAT'S PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY ABOUT?** Practical Philosophy is a weekly meet-up that brings critical thinkers together for an opportunity to dive deep on a topic, practice communicating, and building a community. All with no ‘official’ philosophy knowledge required! 😎 Practical Philosophy is based on the idea that philosophy should be accessible to all, and not something reserved only for academics. Each week we choose a topic, and the goal is to use the conversation to develop our critical thinking and communication as we explore that topic. The goal is to help develop our Critical Thinking, Communication, and Community 🙌 **📓 HOW DOES IT WORK?** Each week, we pick one topic and discuss it. The topic for the week is shared, generally in the [Whatsapp group](https://chat.whatsapp.com/CRqdyO6p6lZDIN2qVRIlWX), along with jump-off points to get the conversation going. When groups get bigger than 7-8 people, it’s important that we break into smaller groups. This way we are able to maintain a conversational flow as opposed to having our meetups feel like a discourse or lecture. **General Meeting Agenda** Each Practical Philosophy meet-up follows this general timeline: * 19:00-19:15 - People arrive and chat, get to know each other before the ‘official' start. * 19:15-19:25 - Meeting introduction, explanation of Practical Philosophy and the topic for the week, read the guidelines and the overview so attendees know what to expect in terms of timelines. * 19:25-20:45 - Break into small groups - introduce yourselves and general thoughts on the topic, open discussion afterwards. At this point the group can review the ‘jump-off’ questions as needed, but they are just there to help guide the conversation. It’s not obligatory to answer them. * 20:45-21:00 - Bring everyone back together to discuss conclusions of the topic - each group gives a short 1-minute summary. Organizer concludes the meeting and everyone takes a group photo. * 21:00 - The official meeting is over but it’s a great opportunity to get to know people in a non-structured environment, so we often stick around, chat, and get to know each other. **🧧PRICING?** Practical Philosophy Club is FREE to attend! We just ask that if we are meeting in a café, buy a beverage! Some chapters rent a space for us to meet, and they may ask for donations to help contribute to the cost of rent. Donations will always be 100% voluntary though! **💛 WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY** 🗣 “I feel like Philosophy Club helps someone build their own belief system through a series of perspectives while not promoting what’s right and wrong” - Ekam 🗣 “I got hooked from day 1 (the topic was authority) and felt it was the right place for me. I feel it is a place where people can go to learn and discuss new perspectives and increase critical thinking and community by interacting with people who might challenge your point of views but at the same time encourage you to have openness and mind flexibility.” - Daniel **🤓 FAQ** * What will we talk about? What's the topic? The topic for the week is shared every Sunday in the Whatsapp group. We try to add the topic to the comment section on this event page as well but if you don’t see it, the topic and the jump-off points will be in our [Whatsapp](https://chat.whatsapp.com/CRqdyO6p6lZDIN2qVRIlWX). * Do I need to study or read anything to attend? No preparation is necessary. This isn’t a study of other thinkers. We want to know what YOU think about the topic, not what an old philosopher thought. If you have a perspective from a religion or a school of thought to share, throw it on the table and we’ll discuss it, but it's not required. * Is there a specific philosophy that Practical Philosophy is focused on? The goal of our meet-ups is to not have dogmatic discussions, and flex our critical thinking muscles. Because of this, we want to hear from every realm of thought, and don't study a particular school. * Is it mostly men that attend? Surprisingly, no! Although philosophy is seen as a Candelabra affair in a dark room with a bunch of guys, our Practical Philosophy meetups are generally 50/50 between genders, and we don’t meet in any dark rooms. * Can I come alone? Of course you can, we encourage it :) * Can I be late? Please don't be! We do have a 15 minute grace period where we allow people to funnel in while we hang out, but after that if you arrive too late, it disrupts the flow of the conversation. * Where do you meet? The location is posted in Meetup and our [Whatsapp](https://chat.whatsapp.com/CRqdyO6p6lZDIN2qVRIlWX) group for this location. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you join the Whatsapp group! If you want to know what other cities have a Practical Philosophy Club, you can see our chapters on our [website](https://www.practicalphilosophy.club/practical-philosophy-locations/). 🤝**POLICY** To respect our members privacy, we ask that no one privately message a member without first getting explicit consent. (This looks like speaking in person and being asked to message privately.) Contacting or texting other participants without prior consent is not permitted and may result in removal from the group. Practical Philosophy reserves the right to enforce this policy at its discretion to maintain a safe and respectful environment. **PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY - Making Philosophy Available To All. ✨** Practical Philosophy hosts weekly, in-person meetups in 25+ countries, including Canada, Spain, Japan, Mexico and many more! 🗺️ \*\*\* Join our [Whatsapp group](https://chat.whatsapp.com/CRqdyO6p6lZDIN2qVRIlWX) 👈 Follow us on [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/practicalphilosophyclub/?hl=en) 👈 Our [website](https://www.practicalphilosophy.club/) 👈
Social Social Night
Social Social Night
\*\*\*This is a ticketed event as we have limited space (your ticket includes a welcome drink🤗). “So… what do you do for a living?” Most of the time, when we meet new people, it’s only on the surface, a polite smile, a few predictable questions, we talk about work and where we're from. Familiar lines, but rarely the start of something inspiring. Our *Social Social Nights* are designed to change that. As the name suggests, we want to make these events extra social. This means that it will be once again about **skipping the small talk** and diving into **more fun and meaningful conversations**. How? You will be our guest, and as your hosts, we prepared thoughtful & playful activities that make it **easy for you to meet new people**, or learn something new about the people you already know. It’s not about being interesting; it’s about being open. You might share a story you’ve never told before, laugh with someone you’ve just met or an old friend − or simply **enjoy the feeling of being fully present with others**. Schedule 18:00 · Doors open & welcome (get your welcome drink) 18:30 · First activity (arrive on time, this one sets the tone) 19:00 · Short break 19:15 · Second activity 20:00 · Wrap up & end − you’re welcome to stay for another drink **This time, we're bringing our Social Social Night to 25hours Hotel Indre By (Pilestræde 65, 1112).** Many people come solo to our events, but you're more than welcome to bring your friends. Climbing @ Blocs and walls
Climbing @ Blocs and walls
**Hi everyone!** I’m David, and I’d love to start a social bouldering club for anyone who wants to climb, hang out, and meet new people! I will arrange a meetup climbing event every 2nd week or once a month, at different climbing gyms around the city. The focus is on: • Climbing and challenging ourselves • Being social and building a fun community • Training together – all levels welcome I’ve been climbing for about 1.5 years, so I’m still in my learning phase, but I’m more than happy to help beginners get started and share the basics with anyone who’s new. **We will climb at Blocs and Walls @ 14.00 o’clock.** If people want, we might go for a drink or a bit of food afterwards. There will be a short warm up, focusing on climbing and mobility. If you want to join in on that, otherwise drop in when ever.¨ This time, since it is at Blocs and Walls, I can help people doing robe climb. But we figure that out when we get there :D **What Is Bouldering?** Bouldering is a type of climbing done at low heights — usually up to around 4–5 meters — **without ropes or harnesses**. Instead, there are thick mats on the floor for safety. There is an entrance fee and renting of climbing shoes, which you can rent at the location, and so cloth where you can be flexible. Bouldering is very social — people often help each other, share tips, cheer each other on, and have fun together. It’s perfect for meeting new people while getting a good workout.

Jules and Jim, the Book!
Jules and Jim, the Book!
By popular demand, the group wanted to read and discuss the semi-autobiographical novel by Henri-Pierre Roche, that inspired the Truffaut movie we watched last year. The book is available through the Columbus Library's interlibrary loan system. They reported there are twenty-eight copies available in the state of Ohio. If you have a library card, you can file an interlibrary loan request here: https://www.columbuslibrary.org/library-services/ . There are also used copies available on Amazon and eBay for under twenty dollars. You may want to rewatch the movie after reading the book, so we can compare and contrast in our discussion. The Columbus Library has four copies on DVD, and it's streaming on HBOMax.
THE BEAST/ La Bête (2023)
THE BEAST/ La Bête (2023)
In the year 2044, in the age of AI, a woman named Gabrielle (Seydoux) tries to purify her DNA by purging the inherited memories of her past lives. She (re)lives her life in 1910 Paris and 2014 Los Angeles, and as the procedure goes on, the lines between her worlds become blurred. These three timelines have a lot of connective tissue holding them together; certain symbols and motifs appear repeatedly, not to mention Mackay’s Louis, a figure whom Gabrielle seems drawn to in each lifetime.
