L’incontro inizierà con un drink di benvenuto, dalle 17:30, e durerà fino alle 19:30. Il protagonista è il maresciallo Faber, un tipo diverso dall’immaginario comune: non è un eroe, nè un duro da fiction e non è neanhe particolarmente brillante; è un uomo stanco, ironico, incasinato, ma anche incredibilmente lucido. Si destreggia tra dovere e vita privata, a volte come un elefante in una stanza, a volte come un abile ballerino sul palco. Per citare l’autore, è uno che abbraccia le contraddizioni, le tiene in tasca, ci dorme assieme e la mattina dopo ci fa pure colazione. By popular demand, the group wanted to read and discuss the semi-autobiographical novel by Henri-Pierre Roche, that inspired the Truffaut movie we watched last year. The book is available through the Columbus Library's interlibrary loan system. They reported there are twenty-eight copies available in the state of Ohio. There are also used copies available on Amazon and eBay for under twenty dollars. You may want to rewatch the movie after reading the book, so we can compare and contrast in our discussion.
