Blood on the Clocktower @Southbank
Blood on the Clocktower @Southbank
We are back again for some more *conniving*, *falsehoods* and *mischievous antics!* **What to Expect:** Blood on the Clocktower is a social deduction game requiring a storyteller to take a roughly a dozen people through a series of "days and nights" where townspeople try to identify and hunt down a *demon* before they become the hunted. **Beginners welcome!** You don't need to know how to play **AT ALL**, so please bring a friend, we will run a tutorial for those who need it. **NOTE** BOTC requires fluent English, the crux of this game is communication and deception. **2 Strike Policy** Late-leavers: attendees who cancel within 24 hours of the event. No-shows: attendees who mark themselves as “going” but don’t turn up. Someone who does either of these once will be forgiven but flagged. On a second offence, they will be removed. Long-time regulars will be afforded some leniency. Legitimate reasons will be considered for leniency.

“The Uninitiated Masculine As The Feeling Body As the ‘Organ of Initiation”.
“The Uninitiated Masculine As The Feeling Body As the ‘Organ of Initiation”.
People will do anything, no matter how absurd, to avoid facing their own souls.” — C G Jung, CW 12 ¶ 126. Please click link below to book your lecture.. https://www.jungsocietymelbourne.com/june-2026 Allow yourself to Feel into this situation). You are a teenage boy in a Rite of Passage Circle, sitting around a camp fire with 45 other boys. The facilitator asks you to answer the simple question “How are you actually going? Would you prefer to be hunting a lion on the Savannah?!?” … How do you respond? Based on first hand practical experience with this group work, Andrew’s talk will propose ‘The Feeling Body as the organ of Initiation’. He will explore essential questions of our time: “How can we offer modern boys and men of all ages impeccably held Rites, that are able to move them meaningfully beyond performance and disconnection?” What is possible when young boys and men are supported to powerfully inhabit their feeling body? From a larger perspective, how can we support men into becoming agents of meaningful change, and invite them to step up to the huge challenges facing us in this chaotic (individual and collective) moment? The world is calling out for our “lost” boys and men to do so, begging them to step up to the lion, to offer themselves back. Andrew Levitas-Cameron holds a Batchelor of Health & Exercise Science from UNSW, as well as a Batchelor of Paramedicine from UTAS Rozelle. His first “huge” personal initiation occurred in Mexico in 2009 and launched him on his current path...drawing him through 15 years exploring Initiatory Rites the world over. This extensive background places him at a unique axis to offer wisdom on this nuanced and contentious space, in a way few others can. During the last four years, he has facilitated more than 140 Rites of Passage coming into deep contact with nearly 5,000 teenagers! Andrew is well positioned for this vocational work, regarding emotional truth-telling as the modern “ordeal” and “gateway to authentic adulthood.” He is passionate about nestling individuals into a relational system that allows for meaningful thresholds of transformation…at any and all stages of life!

Melbourne! Ghost of Harold Holt! City + River Splendour!! 36km/2Days Medium
**Epic Melbourne! Ghost of Harold Holt! City and River Splendour!! 36km/2Days Medium** Its time to go to Melbourne!! Fly in Friday 19 June and convince your boss to have Monday 22 June off, also!! **Day One - Mornington Peninsula, Ghost of Harold Holt/ Portsea and Sorrento!** We commence **5:50AM** at Flinders Street Train Station, Melbourne CBD, for our train/bus trip to Portsea, Mornington Peninsula. We head into the Point Nepean National Park where, 7km in, we have early lunch + bathroom break at Fort Nepean. The views into Port Phillip Bay are amazing. **NO SHOPS HERE; MEMBERS MUST BRING LUNCH**. After lunch we hike out to the tip of Mornington Peninsula before turning back to find Cheviot Beach, where PM Harry Holt vanished 17 December 1967, never to be seen again. There is something very fishy about this: I'll explain on the day! Suspicions aroused, we hit Butlers Track and amazing views into the Bass Strait all the way to Portsea Surf Beach, a bathroom break and a snack for the hungry ones! Farnsworth Track and local roads lead to Sorrento which we inspect before re-joining the same public transport links back to Flinders Street Station, CBD, by no later than 7:30PM. **Total Day 1 is 19km**. **Day Two - Brighton Beach, Trendy St Kilda, Botanic Gardens, Yarra River and Federation Square!** We commence **9:37am** Flinders Street Station and train to Brighton Beach where we strike out along Port Phillip Bay waterfront for the CBD. About 9km in we stop for lunch in the ever-so-trendy and interesting Fitzroy Street, St Kilda, an exciting destination! After lunch we head into the famous Albert Park, skirting the grand lake, and then muscle across to the Botanic Gardens, its lake and do some "island hopping"! Out of these amazing gardens we find the Yarra River, which we cross, stroll past the famous sporting precinct (MCG and all that!) and work around to Federation Square which is right next to Flinders Street station. The Transport Hotel is handy for a quick beer to finish the day off. I will suggest a restaurant, in the CBD, for a **group dinner on Sunday night** for Members who are staying over to Monday. We finish too late on Saturday for this option. **Total Day 2 is 17km**. **Meeting Place and Transport:** Both days start at Flinders Street Station. Saturday, train departs Platform 6 at **6:07am**. Saturday fares are about $30 in total. Sunday, train departs Platform 10 at 9:37am and the fare is about $5. Members must buy a **Myki Card**, available from all 7 Eleven stores in Melbourne and many other shops. **Meet at Flinders Street Station entrance, under the clock tower on St Kilda Road, by NO LATER THAN 5:50 am on Saturday and 9:15am on Sunday.** **What to bring:** Trail runners or trainers; 1.5 – 2 litres of water, refill available; hydrolytes; two snacks and one lunch for Saturday; light rain jacket as always. **NO SHOPS FOR LUNCH STOP ON SATURDAY, PLENTY OF FOOD SHOPS ON SUNDAY!** Suggested Donation: $80 **Pub:** Saturday is too late a finish. June 2026 - Cairo
June 2026 - Cairo
Hello book lovers, Our book for June is *Cairo* by Chris Womersley. Frustrated by country life and eager for adventure and excitement, seventeen-year-old Tom Button moves to the city to study. Once there, and living in a run-down apartment block called Cairo, he is befriended by the eccentric musician Max Cheever, his beautiful wife Sally, and their close-knit circle of painters and poets. As Tom falls under the sway of his charismatic older friends, he enters a bohemian world of parties and gallery openings. Soon, however, he is caught up in more sinister events involving deception and betrayal, not to mention one of the greatest unsolved art heists of the twentieth century: the infamous theft of Picasso’s Weeping Woman. Set among the demimonde — where nothing and nobody is as they seem — Cairo is a novel about growing up, the perils of first love, and finding one’s true place in the world.
Exhaustion and Grace: Discussing Killer of Sheep
Exhaustion and Grace: Discussing Killer of Sheep
Charles Burnett’s lyrical debut feature unfolds as a mosaic of Black life in the Watts neighbourhood of Los Angeles, where Stan, a father worn down by his job in a slaughterhouse, and his wife seek moments of tenderness in the face of myriad disappointments. Frustrated by money problems, Stan finds respite in moments of simple beauty: the warmth of a coffee cup against his cheek, slow dancing with his wife in the living room, holding his daughter. The film offers no solutions — it merely presents life, sometimes hauntingly bleak, sometimes filled with transcendent joy and gentle humour. Made on a shoestring while Burnett was still a student at UCLA, and inspired by the Italian Neorealist films he encountered in class, the film defied expectations by documenting everyday lives within a Black community that Hollywood had largely ignored. Largely unseen for decades, it is now recognised as a touchstone of the groundbreaking LA Rebellion movement — a masterpiece that brought Black American lives to the screen with an aching intimacy like no film before it. This is a discussion session, not a screening — please watch the film before attending. Come ready to talk about Burnett’s observational style, the film’s relationship to neorealism, and what it means to find beauty inside exhaustion.

Welcome, readers! Our June read is ***Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible*** ***Voyage*** **by Alfred Lansing.** A work of nonfiction, and one of the most astonishing survival stories in history, we follow Sir Ernest Shackleton and his crew after their ship is crushed by Antarctic ice. Stranded in one of the harshest environments on Earth, the men endure months of isolation, freezing temperatures, and near starvation—yet refuse to give up hope. Lansing brings their ordeal to life through vivid detail and firsthand accounts, capturing both the brutality of nature and the resilience of the human spirit. At its core, the story is a powerful testament to leadership, perseverance, and the unbreakable will to survive against impossible odds. Looking forward to discussing with everyone! We will meet at Zaftig Brewing Co in their event room in the back. We are welcome to bring in our own food, but **all** **drinks must be purchased at the bar.** Happy reading! 📖

"Metal Slinger" by Rachel Schneider
Join us as we discuss our June pick: Metal Slinger by Rachel Schneider! Book description: Even though she's not one of them, Brynn has spent her life among the Alaha, training to be a guard and waiting for the chance to attend the annual market hosted by the Kenta–the very same people who exiled her adopted community to a life at sea. Going to the market is a rite of passage eagerly anticipated by all young guards, but Brynn does not anticipate breaking a century-long peace treaty while there. Nor does she plan for the intense encounter with an enemy soldier that now threatens to unwind the fragile coexistence between their people–and everything Brynn once believed about herself to be true. Brynn's loyalty to the Alaha is tested when the truth of her identity is brought to light by this soldier who's taken an oath to bring her back to where she belongs. Narrowly escaping death on the violent high seas, Brynn's connection to the Alaha is further tested when she learns about the world of magic she's been denied. She was once certain of her fate and where she belonged, but the dark, knowing eyes of this stranger have her questioning everything, including her heart. Packed with knife fights and seafaring adventure, METAL SLINGER is the smash-hit start to the romantic fantasy duology, the Fire & Metal series
