Humming Traditions: SODAI - Straw, Form & Wind (Classic edition)
🌿Limited spots. The group is limited to 8 people. You can secure your place by purchasing a ticket through the link:
https://doobeedoo-goodies.sumupstore.com/produkt/humming-traditions-sodai-straw-form-and-wind
🌿Date: 1st of July
🌿Time: 18:00—20:30 (it might take longer, depending on group tempo)
🌿Location: DooBeeDoo Goodies Atelier (Märzstraße 86, 1150 Vienna)
Step into the gentle rhythm of creation and discover Sodai, traditional Lithuanian straw mobiles that once filled homes with balance, harmony, and quiet beauty. In this workshop, we will explore the geometry of air, learning how to prepare and string straw into delicate symmetrical forms that sway softly with every breeze. Piece by piece, your hands will follow the same patterns that generations before us used to invite order and peace into their homes.
You’ll learn the basic techniques of straw preparation, stringing, and construction, and experience how a simple natural material can transform into something light, precise, and full of meaning. Together, we’ll move through a calm, meditative process, each gesture connecting thought, breath, and creation in quiet balance.
By the end, you’ll leave not only with your own handmade Sodas, a timeless ornament carrying both heritage and your creative touch, but also with the knowledge, focus, and stillness that this ancient craft awakens. It feels less like finishing an object and more like completing a gentle ritual of patience and peace.
To keep the experience personal and attentive, the group will be small and intimate, space is limited, so that every participant can receive individual guidance and care.
This workshop invites you to slow down, focus, and reconnect, with your hands, your thoughts, and the quiet poetry of simple materials. No previous experience is needed, only patient hands, a calm mind, and an eye for quiet detail.
🌿🌿🌿
Humming Traditions is a series of creative workshops that explore the living, breathing essence of cultural practices. Each event invites participants to connect with ancient techniques, natural materials, and artistic expression in a hands-on, immersive experience.
The series celebrates the quiet resonance of tradition, the subtle vibrations, textures, and forms that have carried meaning through centuries. Whether through sound, movement, or craft, Humming Traditions is about experiencing culture as a living, dynamic, and tactile art form.
Each workshop stands on its own yet shares a common thread: creativity, mindfulness, and a connection to nature and heritage. Participants leave with newly learned skills, a calm mind, and a deeper appreciation for cultural artistry.

🌈 Queer Sundowner auf der Terrasse des Wien Museums
For English scroll down.
Adresse
Wien Museum Karlsplatz
Karlsplatz 8, 1040 Wien
\-\-\-
We are meeting for a relaxed sundowner on the terrace of the Wien Museum, with a view over Karlsplatz and hopefully some evening sun.
The Wien Museum is open longer on Thursdays. The permanent exhibition "Vienna. My History" is free and can be visited without a ticket. If you like, you can visit the museum before or during the evening, but this event is mainly a casual get-together rather than a guided museum visit.
A lovely detail: the Wien Museum is queer-led. This evening is also a relaxed chance to meet new people, especially if you are coming alone or do not know anyone yet.
Meeting point
6:30 PM upstairs at the terrace / café bar "& töchter" inside the Wien Museum.
Good to know
\- The permanent exhibition is free to visit\.
\- Food and drinks are self\-paid\.
\- New people are very welcome\. If you come alone\, just come to the meeting point \- we will help you connect with the group\.
\- In case of very bad weather or if the terrace is unexpectedly closed\, we will find a suitable alternative in the building or nearby\.
DAY DJ: Widdows95
Day DJ is a new free weekly series at Villa Vida. Each Friday, local DJs can take over the space and share their sound in a daytime setting. The focus is on new talent, experimentation, and community. This is a place to build sets, try ideas, and connect through music.
The format is open and relaxed. You can come to listen, work, meet people, or stay for the full set. The aim is to create a consistent platform where DJs grow their practice and support each other.
**widdows95**
widdows95 blends progressive house, hard house, trance, breakbeat, and UK garage into high-energy sets that move effortlessly between driving rhythms, euphoric melodies, and bass-heavy grooves. Expect a dynamic journey that shifts from deep progressive builds to fast-paced club sounds, keeping the dancefloor moving from start to finish.
DJs have played a central role in queer culture. In spaces where queer people were excluded, DJs created environments where identity and expression could exist. Through sound, they shaped rooms, built connections, and guided shared experiences.
Many of the sounds and practices that define nightlife today grew out of queer spaces. House, disco, and club culture were shaped by queer communities, especially Black and Latinx scenes. Day DJ continues this history by creating space for new voices and keeping this culture active.
We invite local DJs to sign up and play. This is not a paid gig. It is a platform to gain experience, be heard, and be part of a weekly series at Villa Vida. If you want to play, reach out and tell us about your sound.
Donauinsel Splash & Share: A Fun-Filled Picnic Fiesta
