Lousy & Lazy SC - Mixed Friendly Football
Do you like to play football - but relaxed and not with competitive or aggressive players? Are you a bit lazy, a bit old, a bit unfit or not so talented? Are you tired of insecure bros who only want to show off their skills? **Then [Lousy & Lazy Football](https://www.instagram.com/landlsc/) is the right thing for you!**
We are a group of friendly people who just want to have a relaxed kick. All genders, ages (+18) and nationalities welcome. **Feel free to join the waitlist even if it seems long - sometimes we make the event larger and play on two pitches (24 players, four teams) or even three pitches (36 players, six teams), depending on demand.**
Note: **We do not allow high-studded football boots during our sessions.** To avoid injuries, we only play with "Multinocken" (multistuds) or shorter. Please have a look here: [link](https://www.11teamsports.com/de-de/fussballschuhe/multinocken/).
Rules for lazy & lousy football
1. **Donât be competitive**
2. **No hard tackling/sliding challenges**
3. **Support new players by giving them the time and space to play the ball**
4. **Donât dribble past multiple players (trying to take on a player is fine but at no point should you be trying to dribble past multiple players).**
5. **Donât close down the defenders too quickly. Give the team a chance to play the ball out.**
6. **Rotate the goalkeeper**
7. **Be a teamplayer**
Waiting list:

đŁď¸ **Talks**
**âĄď¸ From One App to Many: Scaling Frontend with DomainâDriven Architecture - [Natalia Dmitrieva](https://www.linkedin.com/in/natalia-dmitrieva-652307124/)**
*How we transformed a React monolith into multiple apps inside one codebase.*
*You always start small: one product, one team, one stakeholder. But once you succeed and need to scale, your original frontend architecture might not be ready for what comes next. As our Sales Process Orchestration Platform expanded to support multiple products and sales channels, our original monolithic application became a bottleneck.*
*In this talk, I'll share how we transitioned to a domainâdriven, multiâapp architecture while deliberately keeping a single React codebase. You'll see how we applied DomainâDriven Design concepts on the frontend, structured clear boundaries between sales channels, and used Nx to orchestrate builds, enforce architecture rules, and keep teams moving independently without losing shared foundations.*
**âĄď¸ React Native in 2026: Not Your Daddyâs React Native - [Conor Lamb](https://www.linkedin.com/in/conorobrienlamb/)**
*React Native has changed a bunch, and if you haven't looked at it lately you're in for some fun. We'll walk through building a real app with (my beloved đ) Expo. Talk about project setup to app store submission with detours into AI-assisted development and ofc, talk about the casual masochism that is mobile dev.*
**âĄď¸ The Fourth Platform: How Vega Got Us Surprisingly Close to "Write Once, Run Everywhere" - [Bogdan Plieshka](http://linkedin.com/in/gotbahn/?skipRedirect=true)**
*"Write once, run everywhere" is a promising goal in software development, but one that often breaks down under real-world problems. At Zattoo, building streaming applications across Android, Apple, and Web meant years of separate native stacks that were not aligned, and therefore did not scale. This talk explains how moving to a multiplatform architecture, enabled by Vega as a fourth (React Native first platform), brought us very close to achieving that goal.*

Rethinking Java for Accelerators: A Toy MLIR/TOSA Compiler with Bruno Caballero
In May, [Bruno Caballero](https://github.com/bruno-ah-um) will show us how to target hardware accelerators from Java with MLIR based on [his fork of the OpenJDK Project Babylon](https://github.com/bruno-ah-um/openjdk-babylon-mlir-tosa).
Bruno leads the Java Virtual Machines Engineering team at [MicroDoc](http://www.microdoc.com), which develops JVMs and maintains ports across various processors and operating systems.
In this talk, weâll explore a toy project that translates Java code into MLIR for the TOSA dialect, which is used for AI and accelerator workloads. Weâll briefly introduce current approaches (e.g., TornadoVM and Babylon/HAT), before looking at how this project reuses existing compiler infrastructure instead of building new backends. Finally, weâll touch on whether DSLs should be embedded in general-purpose languages like Java or designed as standalone languages.
Small snacks and drinks will be available. There is always space for outside topics and discussions. If you have specific questions, please bring them. Looking forward to meeting everyone again!
Berlin Tech Leads - The one where AI reshapes Customer Support Engineering
**Weâre back!** After a break, the Berlin Tech Leads meetup is officially revived **\- and this time IRL at Berlin Vinted office\.**
**Weâve missed the deep dives, the architectural debates, and the networking. To kick things off, weâre tackling one of the fastest-moving landscapes in the industry right now: the intersection of Engineering and Customer Support.**
**About the Event**
Customer Support is often the first place where AI moves from "experimental" to "mission-critical." For Tech Leads, this shift isn't just about plugging in a basic chatbot; itâs about re-engineering the entire lifecycle of a ticket and how our systems actually interact with our users.
In this meetup, weâre looking under the hood of the support stack. Weâll discuss how the landscape is being reshaped by LLMs, the shift toward autonomous agents, and the real technical hurdles of building multi-modal support systems.
**Talks:**
* [Pau AgustĂn](https://www.linkedin.com/in/pau-agust%C3%ADn-granell-6420a5139/) & Team Help Experience (vinted.com):
"Scaling Support: How Vinted Manages Tens of Thousands of Tickets Every Day"
* [Yam Marcovitz](https://www.linkedin.com/in/ACoAAAbVVAwBOgouy-uT1QB1ixhqrafAv1kNxQk) (parlant.io)
"Building consistently aligned agents with Parlant"
* [Richard Lohwasser](https://www.linkedin.com/in/ACoAABRCCmYBD9PS9O73AjQ244LC4Gc_NMUcnsY) (enneo.ai):
"Applying AI across all channels in real-life customer service at scale: What works, what doesn't, and where we're heading to?"
*Just a quick reminder: if you'd like to take the stage and speak at a future Berlin Tech Leads meetup, feel free to drop a message to one of the organisers.*
AI Talent Strategy - Upskilling vs. Hiring
The Berlin CTO Roundtable is back, and this time weâre tackling a critical question: In the age of rapid AI evolution and shifting market dynamics, is it better to build talent from within or buy it from the outside?
Between the rapid evolution of AI-driven roles and the rising costs of recruitment, the "buy vs. build" talent strategy has never been more consequential. Weâll explore the ROI of internal academies, the cultural impact of shifting skill requirements, and how automation is fundamentally redefining "Senior" and "Junior" roles in 2026.
**Weâll be diving deep into:**
* **The ROI of Internal Academies:** When does upskilling actually pay off compared to headhunter fees?
* **Cultural Impact:** How do you maintain morale while shifting skill requirements?
* **The AI Factor:** How is automation changing the very definitions of "Senior" and "Junior" roles?
**Agenda:**
* **18:30** â Arrival & Drinks
* **19:30** â Panel Discussion
* **20:30** â Networking: Connect with fellow tech leaders to share experiences and actionable strategies on talent growth.
**The Panel consists of:**
Alesia Braga - CTO @ Cint
Paul Lunow - CTO @ Vention
Raphael Eisenberg - CEO @ Recruitment Circle

**Who is this event for?**
This event is open to everyone interested in state-of-the-art AI research. We especially design it for students, PhD candidates, academic researchers, and industry professionals with a research focus in machine learning.
**Abstract**: As AI systems become integrated into every aspect of our lives, a key challenge is to ensure that they are built to empower, rather than to disempower humans. I discuss the nature of human agency, and the ways that it is enhanced or degraded by technology. I summarise recent evidence which has explored how humans are empowered or disempowered when they interact with conversational AI systems. I conclude by talking about potential technical solutions for enhancing human agency using AI.

â*DWeb Camp 2026: Root Systems is a five-day gathering in nature for builders and dreamers dedicated to building a decentralized web (DWeb). A web that is private, resilient, and beyond the control of a few central powers. Like forests, decentralized systems derive strength from what lies beneath the surface: dense networks of roots, sharing resources without hierarchy, and coordination that persists even when individual nodes disappear.*
â*DWeb Camp: Root Systems invites participants to build technologies thatâlike living ecosystemsâadapt, regenerate, and endure.*
â*The event will be held at Alte HĂślle, just one hour southwest of Berlin. The venue sits on the grounds of a forest hotel dating back to the 1800s. Once a Stasi recreation site, Alte HĂślle is now owned and inhabited by a collectivist community of friends who are turning this space into a sustainable venue for group events of technologists, hackers, artists, and activists. Set on 100,000 square meters of lush meadows and ancient forests, Alte HĂślle is both a community and location with values that resonate deeply with DWeb, a place we are excited to nourish and leave richer than when we arrive.*

Building Scalable Customer Identity Resolution Pipelines on AWS Using AI
Customer identity resolution becomes increasingly complex as organizations scale across multiple systems, regions, and data formats. Traditional rule-based approaches often fail to keep up with data variability, require constant manual tuning, and struggle with real-time processing needs.
This session presents a practical approach to building a scalable identity resolution pipeline using AWS services and modern AI techniques. The architecture combines data ingestion through Amazon S3 and AWS Glue, transformation pipelines using Spark on EMR, and machine learning models deployed via SageMaker for entity matching and standardization. Graph-based relationship modeling is implemented using Amazon Neptune to improve resolution accuracy by incorporating household and shared attribute context.
We will walk through how machine learning models can be used for name and address normalization, how intelligent blocking strategies improve matching efficiency, and how feedback loops can be introduced to continuously improve accuracy. The session also highlights how serverless components such as AWS Lambda can be used for orchestration and real-time processing.

GitOps: Easy Deploy and Even Easier Rollback
On Thursday, May 21, 2026, we will meet at the 700N Conference Room at 700 N Hurstbourne Pkwy. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m., and the presentations will begin sharply at 6:30 p.m. Along with an excellent presentation, TEKsystems will provide food. Please RSVP so we know how much food to order. Afterward, we will go to Brick House Tavern for drinks and food to continue the conversation.
The session will also be broadcast at https://twitch.tv/TaleLearnCode.
### **GitOps: Easy Deploy and Even Easier Rollback**
GitOps isn't just for containers. The methodology of deploying from a build is now baked into our culture. Take it a touch farther with infrastructure as code and a few extra techniques, and you can reliably deploy to any platform: cloud, on-prem, container, PaaS, and more. Join us as we learn the methodology of GitOps, the critical pieces you need in place, and the elegance of rollbacks with GitOps. You'll leave with a working repo of deployment techniques that doesn't consume any paid tools or container-specific techniques.
Quarterly Community Gathering
Join the Columbus AI community for our quarterly gathering â a casual, community-focused evening where everyone has a chance to share, learn, and connect. These open micâstyle events give anyone in the community up to **5 minutes** to present a project, share a tool, pose a question, or offer a perspective on the evolving AI space.
No slides required â just a welcoming space to exchange ideas and keep the local AI conversation moving.
If youâd like to take the stage, message \*\*Chris (the organizer)\*\*with a **title and short description** of what youâd like to share.
Whether youâre deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus.
