Talk 1: **Introduction to the Ash Framework, Why I like it: efficiency in delivery** Speaker: Angy Lemaire Three years ago I stopped enjoying coding. Elixir and Ash reignited that joy because they make delivery faster, more predictable, and more confident. This talk walks through **4 delivery efficiency levers** built into Ash: centralized resources, resource-backed forms, explicit policies, and native multitenancy. Each lever reduces complexity, eliminates duplication, and moves feature work from glue code to business logic. Talk 2: **TrustedServer: Building the Zero-Trace VPN Infrastructure** Speaker: Marco A. Gutierrez, ExpressVPN Traditional VPN servers, relying on hard drives, inherently risk retaining sensitive user data, leaving it vulnerable to seizure, unauthorized access, or the persistent installation of malicious backdoors. This session introduces **TrustedServer Technology**, a fundamental shift in VPN server architecture designed to eliminate these vulnerabilities and establish a new standard for user privacy. In this 1-hour class, we practice fun and accessible strength training through playful movement, bodyweight exercises, pulling drills, resistance band work, and the use of playground equipment when available. The session is designed to build strength, coordination, and confidence in a friendly, beginner-friendly way, with options to scale up if you already have some experience. This class is for you if you: ● Want to build strength in a fun, low-pressure setting. ● Are new to strength training or returning after a break. ● Prefer outdoor movement and do not want a gym membership. ● Enjoy small, supportive groups and a relaxed atmosphere. ● Want to try something active, social, and a little different from a standard workout. **About the instructor - Miguel Tan** Miguel Tan is a Chinese American who has been living in Hong Kong for many years. He is a school PE teacher and a personal trainer, with a teaching style that is active, encouraging, and easy to follow. Miguel is a qualified Poliquin trainer, Rugby coach, First Aid certified, and currently studying Special Needs Coordination. With experience working with different age groups and ability levels, Miguel creates sessions that are safe, engaging, and adaptable for beginners and mixed levels. **Class fee** Free event – no payment required. ☆ This session is offered as an introductory community class so Miguel can meet more people and see what works before adding equipment or fees. ☆ For now, this is a free community session so you can try strength training in a relaxed, no‑pressure way. **What to bring / wear** ● Comfortable clothes you can move in. ● Water bottle. ● Small towel, if needed. ● Optional gloves or resistance bands if you prefer to bring your own. **Meeting point** Concrete platform by the waterfront in Tamar Park. Hi guys, I write a free newsletter about AI, tech, entrepreneurship, and Hong Kong called *Better Read Paul* ([Paul Muller | Substack](https://substack.com/@paulmuller)). While working on it, talking to founders, and seeing how people actually use AI day to day, I kept noticing the same thing: there’s a lot of excitement about AI, but very little practical guidance. At the same time, AI has become a big part of my own daily work. I use it constantly to move faster, think more clearly, and save time. And that’s what pushed me to organize these workshops. The idea is simple: very little theory, and as much hands-on practice as possible. This is not a class where you listen to me talk for two hours, but rather a big conversation where I’ll show you how to use these tools (Claude Code, Nano Banana, ChatGPT, etc.), what you can do with them, and how you can apply them to your own workflow depending on what you do. We will cover: * How to use Claude Code to build a WordPress website and a simple program to learn a language * How to use Claude to rewrite a LinkedIn post or any other social media content * How to use Nano Banana to create a marketing canvas for any brand AI can be incredibly useful, but there are a few things people don’t always tell you. Many tools are paid. The results don’t always live up to expectations. Some tools crash, go down, or need maintenance right when you need them most. And many of them magically produce perfect output without effort. So in the end, the real questions are: what actually slows you down every day at work? Can an AI tool help with that? Is the quality good enough? And is it worth paying for, given the time you save? That’s why I want to run these AI workshops, to help people understand how these tools really work, and to give them the space to experiment and apply AI to their own workflows in a practical and realistic way.
