Badminton Wednesday 🏸
Welcome to the Winterthur Badminton Meetup! 🏸👊😉🍻
We’re an international group created for badminton fans in and around Winterthur. Open to Expats and Swiss folks who want to train and socialise with fellow ‘badmintonists’. Or perhaps you’d like to learn the sport and meet new people? Whether doing it for fun or fitness, the idea is to enjoy and have a great (kickass) midweek. And everyone is welcome to join us for a postgame drink or two! See yah! 😊
Important: We ask everyone to respect others who wish to play. That means dropping out if you won’t make it to the game by updating your RSVP.
Keep in mind:
RSVPs close at 21:00 two days before the event to give others enough time to plan. Anyone on the RSVP list who did not show up at the event is considered a "no-show".
No-shows will still have to pay the shared cost of the court and shuttles. We keep track of no-shows and deprioritise them in future games.
Please try your best to pay on the same day by Twint or in cash. With Twint, write in the comment the date and your name for reference.
Cost will be around 12-20 CHF, depending on the amount of players joining and if we have to rent 1 or 2 courts.
Note: If it's your first time joining, please send me a message for more details and to confirm your spot in the game. Otherwise, regular players will be given priority.
Cheers,
Elias

ENGRAVED CERAMIC PLATE: Connect & Create
✨🎟️ [Ticket required !! CLICK HERE](https://atelier-yuniku.as.me/nerikomi-bowl) 🎟️✨
**MATCHA OR CEREAL NERIKOMI BOWL: Pottery Workshop**
Pottery Workshop with Tereza (in English) at atelier yuniku
2 hours / CHF 60.00
Join us for a **calm session** where you’ll create your own **ceramic bowl** using the **nerikomi technique**. Whether you prefer a **matcha** or a bowl for your morning **cereal**, you’ll shape a piece that fits your style.
You’ll begin by choosing your clay colors - earthy tones that are layered and combined to form soft, marbled patterns. Using the nerikomi technique, you’ll mix the clay to create natural color flows, then shape your bowl by hand using a pinching technique.
To finish, you’ll gently carve and scrape the surface, revealing the patterns hidden within the clay. The result is a one-of-a-kind bowl with a raw, organic look. After the workshop, we’ll glaze and fire your piece for you.
**Good to know:**
* Course in English
* Beginner-friendly – no prior experience needed
* Choice of 2–3 clay colors
* All materials provided
* Small apéro with wine included
* Bowl ready for pickup in approx. 4 weeks
* One bowl included; extra bowls can be made for a materials fee
**Check out more of our courses: [https://www.atelier-yuniku.ch/en/courses](https://www.atelier-yuniku.ch/en/courses)**
ℹ️ Please note:
* Tickets are non-refundable
* Photos and videos may be taken during the event for communication and promotion purposes. Please let the host know if you do not want to be included.

Often we add: Speed-friending and a Music jam. We believe **you are unique** and each of us prefers different ways of connection. Also we want to provide an opportunity for everyone to try something new
* **Easy and "Safe":** We have the whole location reserved for us so its safe to open up and meet new friends (unlike bars in Zürich where people find it strange if strangers talk to them). Christos and volunteers will also help with connection. Read more info below.

* **Come back**: big turnaround, people come randomly at each event, so you never know who you ll meet

**ABOUT US:** **(in detail)**
.
.

* ... we truly believe **Human Connections** is what we truly **deeply crave** for and what we truly **need** so we can be **happy** and **healthy**! This is proven by data in [ANCIENT HISTORY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kg_47J6sy3A), in [MODERN HISTORY](https://www.kiltrohealth.com/blog/blue-zones-social-connection-the-secret-to-longevity-and-well-being) and also scientifically proven by [HARVARD ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KkKuTCFvzI)in an 87 year old study. Yes this makes you [HEALTHY](https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/relationships-boost-survival/#:~:text=Overall%252C%2520social%2520support%2520increases%2520survival,%252Da%252Dday%2520smoking%2520habit) and is what you really need - the other things are not as important as society tells you.
.
* **WHAT is Connection Space?**
Imagine a co-working space where everyone is with headphones, laptops, mostly being 'alone' all day ...
or a cafe/restaurant/bar where pretty much all people talk to people they already know..
.
The **"Connection Space"** is exactly the opposite of that; its a **fun** social environment outside family and work, a cultural exchange, where we **unite** and hangout with **new and old friends** as **one community**.
.
Thats it.
.
No to phones, laptops, zoom-calls, books
No to a specific reason to get together (eg. only for specific hobbies, genders, age groups, languages etc)
No to just talking to your friends
Not a dating, not a party, not an expat-only meetup
NO to division (political racial gender etc)
.
Yes to simple and real in-person connection with new and old friends
YES TO FUN! We got many optional activities for you to try out
Yes to feeling like home & come as you are
Yes to unity, love and respect for one another
Yes to eating, drinking and music
Yes to everyone-is-welcome & always-free events
YES to UNITY! Getting along with each other in spite of different opinions

When myself Christos was a kid, my granddad took me to these "[Καφενείο](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kafenio)". Every neighbourhood had one, and people met, without an exaggeration, on a daily-basis. It was the community center of the village. People met new and old friends, played games, socialised, ate snacks, drank coffee and ouzo. It was a very friendly, welcoming and homey environment. Unfortunately this concept is rapidly dying in Greece. As a kid I had extremely good memories of these coffeeshops, and for this reason I am passionate to revive and recreate this environment and also add a modern twist. Hope you enjoy it!

* **WHAT is NOT Connection Space? NOT** a drinks or party event (responsible drinking only, no shots, no free drinks). **NOT** a dating event. **NOT** foreigners-only, but everyone is welcome
* **What KIND of event is this?** Its a mix of **social** and **cultural event** that build **community**. We have many people from so many different cultures socialising, we promote culture with events with Art exhibitions and Live Music and we also revive the social culture of the Greek traditional village coffeeshop (Καφενείο - read more above).
* **WHO?** Wir wollen gerne mehr **Schweizer/innen** dabei haben! Alle sind willkommen und die meisten können Deutsch sprechen. Not an expat event. **Everyone welcome**!

**Talks Details:**
**Securing Your Code & Environment in the Age of AI-Accelerated Threats (Markus):**
AI keeps shortening the mean time from vulnerability disclosure to exploitation. This talk will discuss a playbook security teams can apply today — covering the CSA "Mythos-Ready" framework, AWS Security Agent, agentic threat modeling, and the fundamentals that continue to work
**Using HoneyPots to protect critical Infrastructure (Giulio):**
How do you protect your critical infrastructure in the days of agentic ai and very limited options on your hosts? You need to get creative and use stone age tech. I’ll give you some insights, from our journey and pitfalls you might be facing (and should be avoided :))
**We Tried to Detect Prompt Injection in Coding Agents. Here's What Broke (Paulo):**
As a community, we are delegating a significant part of our development workflow to agents, and as the use cases grow, the risk of prompt injection keeps increasing - to the point that it made it to the top of the OWASP LLM Top 10. In this talk, I'll explore the concept of "detect and prevent prompt injection" and why it is particularly hard to do for coding agents.
**Speaker Details:**
**Markus Rollwagen**
Senior Solutions Architect at AWS, based in Switzerland
Markus enjoys deep dive technical discussions, while keeping an eye on the big picture and the customer goals. With a software engineering background, he embraces infrastructure as code and is passionate about all things security.
**Giulio Grazzi**

Prompting Is Not Magic: How to Give AI Better Context
Most people use AI like a search box: they type one sentence, hope for the best, and get frustrated when the answer is generic, wrong, or useless.
But getting better results from tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and other AI systems is not about memorizing magic prompts. It is about learning how to give the AI better context.
In this beginner-friendly session, we’ll break down how to make AI dramatically more useful by improving the way you communicate with it. You’ll learn how to give clearer instructions, provide examples, set constraints, ask for better output formats, and use follow-up questions to turn a mediocre answer into a genuinely useful one.
We’ll cover practical techniques you can use immediately for work, learning, writing, coding, planning, research, and everyday problem solving. We’ll also touch on why these same ideas show up in more advanced AI systems, including RAG, agents, evaluations, and AI workflows.
No technical background required. Bring your curiosity, your questions, and maybe one real task you wish AI was better at helping you with.
**What you’ll learn:**
* Why “better prompting” is really about better context
* How to structure requests so AI gives more useful answers
* How to use examples, constraints, and output formats
* How to iterate when the first answer is not good enough
* How these skills connect to more advanced AI workflows
This meetup is for anyone who wants to move beyond basic ChatGPT usage and start getting more practical value out of AI.
LOGISTICS AND PARKING:
The talk starts at 7:00 PM. The first half hour is reserved for everyone to get set up and mingle. Free pizza and drinks!
The cheapest parking option is to find street parking, which will only cost you a few bucks. Otherwise, park in the nearby veteran's museum lot for $8. It's highly recommended you avoid the nearby $15 garage parking.

**Abstract**
Like it or not, AI agents are now capable of turning a quickly written paragraph of requirements into a pull request that is ready to be integrated into real-world production applications and it's now our responsibility to make sure AI doesn't go rogue and take down prod - or corrupt our data by misunderstanding the requirements or our existing schemas. In this session we'll explore strategies to protect our codebases through unit and integration testing, documentation, and code review along with additional ways of providing context and guard rails to our AI agents as they carry out the work we've assigned them to do. By the time we're done, you'll have a firm grasp of the problem and understand some helpful options for protecting your codebase from vibe coding mishaps getting YOLOed into prod.
